Aoki-diaz-shirt-2

Shinya Aoki rocks a Nick Diaz t-shirt at the DREAM 16 pre-fight press conference (Pic).

It reads:

"Nick Diaz - Coming from a troubled past of delinquent and criminal behavior, he has changed his life for the better by finding a different path. With the introduction of jiu-jitsu, Nick was able to shed the image of old and start anew. Now known as an intelligent fighter coupled with explosive striking skills, Nick can claim what very few can, Welterweight Champion of the World."

GSP is the WW champ of the world

that SF strap don’t mean shit

"Long shall we remember
He who walked the road of danger
Master of revenge
Death's no stranger

Blood and death lived on his sword
The god of war his only lord
Into the depths of hell
Go all he fell"

sure it does

would gsp dominate nick in a unification bout if it took place probably, but nick is still a ww champion

You're right, Nick is a WW champ.

However, GSP is the WW champ. Big difference.

A SF WW belt...

doens’t mean much. They give title shots to losers and nobodys.

Lesnar isn't the most skilled fighter but until somebody beats him he is the #1 HW in the world. It's obviously not Fedor and sure as hell isn't Werdum!

I don’t give a crap what Buffer says. UFC is not the world, either. But I agree that it was a pretty cool compliment from Aoki to Nick.

so...

has diaz now sponsored aoki? or did aoki lose a bet or something?

never have any regrets, because at the time, thats all you wanted to do

by child on Sep 5, 2010 9:21 PM EDT reply actions

Yea, why is he wearing that???

Anderson Silva is by far the number one P4P king!!! Even when he is losing a fight he still comes back and finishes for the win! GSP dominates the whole fight and still can't finish! LOL

"Welterweight Champion of the World."

GSP would beg to differ.

NICK IS A GREAT PERSON

behind the image he has built in the mma world he is actually a great person…i met him at arco arena at faber vs accencio "spell check..he had a very kewl additude and was definately a people person…it might of had to do with the fact that he was loaded on greenbud but that shouldnt matter lol..jk he was actually hella kewl that night ..and everyone loves a stand up brawl so you gotta love his fight style.

by THACKER on Sep 5, 2010 10:35 PM EDT reply actions

Dude, If you were a chick Id fuck and chuck you. What do you know about someone meeting them once?

He deserves ridicule, you must see why. I understand what your saying, but lets be fair, youre playing the devils advocate here, no?

Nick is ok

I know of nick through high school BJ athletes from his gym that I also coach in wrestling. They say Nick is good guy and instructor even though he gets fired up at times, everyone likes him at the gym and if they don’t he kicks their ass. jk…. I wouldn’t want any of my wrestlers acting like Nick but he’s ok to the people around him… I laugh at the shit he says all the time and sometimes get pissed off at the way he acts I think he’s deserving of the thug reputation he gets, its mostly highly entertaining.

you're in Stockton?

he is definitely misunderstood. It’s a stockton thing though, it’s one of the worst places in the country!

I really like the Diaz brothers and understand they’re from a bad area, but what will be next, a fighter constantly reminding us he was molested by his dad? We get it already, they’re bad ass. Stop plugging the “209” and just kick some ass.

I live in sac kev

My brother n nephews live in stockton and the last one wrestled and graduated from there… I still go there twice a week as a volunteer coach…. yeah it’s a rough place considered the armpit of Ca in many ways. My nephews have never had any trouble growning up there, seems like all the good kids have better things to do than find trouble.

He was able to shed his criminal image? When? Last i seen… he was admitting to cheating drug tests, was seen gang jumping jason miller on live television, disrespects most of his opponents ( i know its not criminal but it just shows a little more of his character). Now, i understand people say how cool he is in real life. Im just saying, his image has never been good.

by Tr8k on Sep 5, 2010 11:20 PM EDT reply actions

Cheating a Drug test for sports is not criminal...

The state of California allows Medicinal Marijuana. He legally, by the state of California is allowed to smoke. So the only near criminal act of his ever portrayed on TV was jumping Jason Miller and to many that may not be so criminal as much as it was putting someone in place. He also had te one incident with Riggs, where the general consensus was that Riggs pushed Diaz first, then Diaz pummeled him to his knees, then Double Dragoned him till the police came. Other than that, he may have a thuggish image (but given the way and area he was raised one would/might expect that) but criminal is far a cry for a guy who has had 2 incidents in nearly 11 years as a pro-fighter.

That is only because he won.

He pouts, ‘salutes’ the judges and crowd, and bitches when he doesn’t. I enjoy him as a fighter but I will never defend Diaz’s character. The excuses about coming from a bad area is pure stupidity. Basically, if you don’t want a shithole, don’t shit in the hole. Stop contributing the same broken down mentality that wrecks the area.

To be honest, I would as well. I think if I rocked the Aoki one, the response of the general public will be as follows:

1) CBA to read your t-shirt, its too long
2) (After reading) Who is Nick Diaz?
