Lyoto Machida: 'I’m going to exploit Rampage where he isn’t totally dominant'

Quoteworthy:

"[Rampage] couldn’t be a better opponent and the date is great, too; it gives me time to prepare ... I’m happy to be back and to prove I’m in the mix with the best of them. I’m working hard, I’m correcting a lot of things and putting a lot of effort in. I’m doing all aspects of fighting, the takedowns, ground fighting and striking ... A fight between two former champions couldn’t be more fitting, two fighters who want their place in the sun. He’s a strong guy who has good boxing and wrestling. I feel he’s a bit limited standing, but he’s really strong and, although he may defend well on the ground, he’s not that good there, either ... I’m going to exploit Rampage where he isn’t totally dominant. But I’m prepared for anything, whether it’s standing or on the ground."

Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Lyoto Machida looks to get back into the title hunt when he collides with another ex-205-pound champ, Quinton Jackson. "The Dragon" plans to exploit "Rampage" where he isn't dominant. Clinch? Ground? Or will the Brazilian play keep-away until "B.A. Baracus" gets frustrated and makes a mistake on his feet? Let's hear some predictions Maniacs, how do you see this one playing out?

Lyoto will look to

Make this fight Rampage vs. Evans II

Do not. I repeat, do not, go to mma-core.com. I made the mistake of watching a couple UFC 108 bouts on there and I am still trying to get all the viruses of my computer. Ridiculous! You've been warned.

Seems like a good attitude coming off of the Shogun ass whoopins

I still think Machida attacks the head and body with kicks, till Page gets caught with a 2 punch combo and gets hurt with a straight left and covers up against the cage throwing a random power hook or 2 while Machida flurries and the fans go crazy. Machida either stops him late, or wins a decision.

I should never have doubted the wisdom of David W-S or the talent of Junior Dos Santos…and screw Dana White

LATE TAKEDOWN FTW

if Lyoto hadnt have been caught in the 2nd Shogun fight

i wouldve given it to Rampage because no one throws that hook better than him.but theres no way Lyoto gets caught the same way twice the only downside being i expect the old methodical decsion Lyoto to be back,i cant see him taking any chances.

He's going to "exploit Rampage where he isn't totally dominant?"

To do that all Lyoto has to do is actually train for the fight.

Like I've said many times already, Rampage is going to be embarrassed.

This will be fight #2 in his 3 fight losing skid on his way out the door.

Correct. It’s not hate either. Rampage was a great, exciting fighter, but his best days are simply behind him now. He can’t compete at the highest level anymore.

Love the picture here.

Reminds me of those “dramatic photos” that were popular in the 80’s. You know the ones…in one shot they would have a floating head of the person looking off into the distance in the corner to compliment the main photo. Classic.

HATERS

dont understand all the hate for Rampage. The dude gets us all pumped for fights. He takes a year off and gets out wrestled by the # 2 lhw in the world and now hes terrible? The dude put rashad on his ass in the 3rd and has put the last 7 of 9 opponents on their ass too. Everyone knows he just comes out throwing and for some reason these guys cant avoid getting hit by him. So to say he shouldnt be ranked high and this and that is not valid.

rampage did well in his k-1 fights vs abidi. machida fought sam greco in mma and greco was kicking his legs over and over and he only won that fought with wrestling

I understand the hate...

lots of fans don’t respect Wolfslair and they don’t respect Rampage’s conditioning methods, he really hasn’t evolved that much and it shows… However, he was just 1 big punch from KO’ing Rashad after he went down… I was amazed Rampage didn’t land one of the 3 or 4 punches that barely missed Rashad… I watched it several times…It was pure luck for Rashad that Rampage missed…. but that’s what happens when you don’t properly train, you miss golden opportunites for moments like just that.

they should have given thiago silva to quintin rampage

And it would make a exciting fight.

Rampage vs T silva (so that rampage and silva can stand and bang after both being humped by rashad)

Lyoto vs Bader ( to see if bader is the real deal and if lyoto’s elusiveness and karate style has been figured out)

Lil Nog vs brandon vera ( a decent grappler who isnt afraid to stand, bader would outwrestle lil nog)

Now the ufc is just destroying lil nog and rampage

My Top MMA Talents

2. Anthony ''Showtime'' Pettis
3. Phil ''Mr. Wonderful'' Davis
4. Terry Etim
5. Patricio ''Pitbull'' Freire

Rampage is going to get whooped.
