Kinda getting sick of hearing about...

Anderson vs GSP honestly. The hardcore’s know that Anderson vs Shogun would be a much better and more exciting fight but the Silva vs GSP topics need to die like the Fedor coming to the UFC topics did.

Lesnar isn't the most skilled fighter but until somebody beats him he is the #1 HW in the world. It's obviously not Fedor and sure as hell isn't Werdum!

Okami sucks ass

Boring and unimpressive, he should not and will not fight for the title.

GSP would dominate Silva if he bulks up alot.

yeh the only problem there is he wont fight him

August 28th was an emotional day for me. Two events occurred that brought me to my knees:
1. BJ Penn lost to Frankie Edgar for the second time, proving to me that he is nowhere near the caliber of man that I made him out to be.
2. I found out that the cardio portion of Frankie Edgar’s training camp consisted of Frankie banging my mom while the arm.bar.bandit played the spanish guitar and sang "Eye of the tiger" by Survivor.

I don't think

GSP wants Silva either and I really don’t see what’s wrong with that. Silva is a big MW and fights at LHW…I think anything can happen in a fight and the rematch will tell if wrestling is Silva’s kryptonite or if the “injury” affected him as much as he says it did.

Personally, I’d like to see GSP set the record for the most title defenses by a WW champ. That way nobody can say that GSP isn’t the most successful WW because he didn’t have the most defenses…All the GSP haters would point to that.

I don't think GSP has ever said he won't fight Anderson?

It’s more of a time factor for GSP.. He wants time to bulk up and what sounds to be a permanent move to 185..

by RayRayJr on Sep 4, 2010 10:12 AM EDT up reply actions

Even if GSP bulks up...

he could never pretend to stand with Anderson. Chael’s a bigger stronger guy wiht better GNP against and injured Silva and still couldn’t put him away. GSP can’t even finsh any real WWs so he’d never stop Anderson.

I don’t think GSP could finish by TKO but a sub is possible and he certainly wouldnt get subbed by Silva. He’d put Silva on his ass for 5 rounds without breaking a sweat.

Anybody can want to fight anyone. Wanting is easy.

Only the talented, dedicated and smart ones can want to fight anyone and win. GSP is smart and when he does take on Silva, it won’t be a half-ass effort resulting in defeat. He will be triumphant.

If I am willing to fight Lesnar and get destroyed, that doesn’t make me a great fighter. It does only if i win.

I really don't know who i would pull for in this fight. I may pull for GSP in this one.

But i really don’t think this fight will go down while they are both in their prime. And that’s the only way i would want to see this fight.

It doesn't matter who you root for in a GSP/Silva fight

BUT if you want to make money, you better be BETTING on GSP.

He is 2 fights away from that.

Hughes had 7, I think after Koscheck, he would have 6. That is if they include him having the Interim belt and then beating Serra. That leaves A rematch with Fitch, Shields, and then what? I don’t think he has many challengers. I don’t think any of the prospects are really going to be top dog anytime soon. The closest thing is Hathaway and I can’t see him getting past the top 5 guys.

I really like Kos's chance...

He may have the best chance.. He is the last fighter to actually take down GSP, stand with some ease, and imo actually took round 1 of their first fight. I am not to sure about FItch. GSP is the better wrestler and with Fitch’s absolute lack of stand up and power in his hands, I think GSP will batter him again. Shields is the one I am not sure of. I don’t like Shields that much but his ability to submit is what I like. I am not sure he could submit GSP, but the threat will be there. The problem for Shields is his Granny style Stand up, that chin up and stiff stance that may very well make him the most rhythmless fighter on their feet that I or anyone has ever seen. I think GSP will absolutely batter him at will on the feet. GSP has great stand up just better wrestling than almost everyone. There is no need for him to play in to Shields strength when he obviously lacks all the necessary tools to fight GSP n a stand up match.

But you assume it’s GSP that doesn’t want to fight. Maybe it’s AS (unlikely) or Dana (way more likely) that hasn’t wanted the fight yet. GSP is a company guy, so if Dana had booked it we would have been watching it by now. I’m glad to see that you’re OK by the way after what happened at 118. I will admit I was suprised by what happened, and not too happy myself.

How is it in his court? He doesn’t make the fight scheduling and he’s not the type of fighter to pick and choose. If the UFC made the fight he would be there. As of now, I think Dana wants to cash in on signing Shields first. I think after GSP beats Kos and Shields or Kamp (Kos being the best of the 3) then the UFC will make the fight.

And again, I know what it’s like to have a fav lose (GSP to Serra), and it’s not fun. I was angry watching the BJ fight cause he looked terrible and I usually love watching him fight. He needs another camp and to hit a treadmill for sure. It’s annoying to see someone with talent like his wilt so quickly. His cornermen are idiots as well and I hope they’re happy with the ‘advice’ they were giving cause I wasn’t. GSP should invite BJ to Tristar and Jacksons ;) Can you imagine how much the threads would light up if that happened.

That would stun everyone.

I try to use the word “impossible” a little as I can because very few things are. In this scenario of Penn heading to Tristar, I could almost use it. The thought of it is interesting though. GSP helping Penn get his title back. Now that’d be wild.

I would say impossible or at least very improbable as well. It would be a movie in the making though. Hell, Apollo Creed helped Rocky get his title back, so I guess anything is possible.

This is a much better story and movie than Kenny going to Tristar. It has to work. BJ’s problems are he doesn’t have cardio and has yes men. He would be much better off in a place that pushed him and made him accountable.

I just moved from the big island earlier this year and while I was there, I heard marv had problems with the way the rest of bj’s trainers were running things. I heard he packed up his shit and left. I think he left right before the first edgar-penn fight. Sucks huh?

I didn’t watch the video but I think its hilarious that Dana is considering a Silva V/S GSP fight. I honestly think he didn’t want them to fight because he thought GSP didn’t have a chance. Now that he seen what a world class rassler can do he wants GSP to fight him. IF Silva beats Sonnen again and GSP somehow beats Silva in a lay and pray 3 round non title fight it would bring GSP to God Like status. Dana would then be able to say, GSP beat B.J and now Silva, how can you not say he is the PvP best and possibly the greatest Mixed martial artist of all time. Just wait.

Why do you think that?

I mean yeah if it was a sanctioned fight at 185 then yes it would be. But what makes you think it has to be at 185? It very well may be and I guess if you think about it, it would add to Dana’s amazement if GSP held both belts at the same time. I’m assuming if GSP did happen to beat Silva he would abandon 170 and fight at 185 full time. That is a big If though. I am still not convinced Silva isn’t trolling everyone and Sonnen getting the better of him on the feet wasn’t a ploy to get Dana to feed him GSP. Maybe I am talking crazy but something just didn’t seem right in that fight.
