Not a Warren fan at all

but that was great KO. I think Soto got way too cocky during that first round.

Absolutely got cocky...

He had his hands down at his side half the first round. I am not even sure that first shot really got him. It looked like it clipped him, but I guess that is all it takes sometimes. That knee was vicious though!

and im guessing that it did suck

especially when you think you have the fight on lock and then catch a knee to the face.

nice to see a knock out in the featherweight division

never have any regrets, because at the time, thats all you wanted to do

I said this in the other post too but just wondering

Watched it a few times. They only show one angle and it looks like the initial overhand right misses. Maybe he catches him with the left but I can’t see. Anyone know what rocked him first?

It was the right, but...

It was an overhand right that caught Soto behind the ear. That’s where your equilibrium is, and that’s why his legs were squirrely for about a minute. It’s similar to Serra’s KO of GSP where he’s not fully unconscious, just on dream street.

by Collin4mma on Sep 3, 2010 7:11 AM EDT up reply actions

Cheers lads

I get that about the equilibrium behind the ear and what not, but it looks like it doesn’t hit, glance at the most. I never thought that’d be enough. Not claiming Soto took a dive or anything either, just looks weird

I agree.

The shot didn’t look that powerful, it must have just been well placed………

That's What You Get.....

For dropping your hands, disrespecting your opponent and thinking you have this in the bag.

Exactly!

I mean I kind of feel bad for the guy given how dominant he was the first round…but..when act cocky like that….like you said

Finish Him!

Agree, Soto had no respect and was clowning around. Warren can take a punch, thought he was going down a couple times and had zero chance. Laughed hard when Soto went down.

Rec'd

I was against Warren until Soto started showboating. Then I laughed my ass off when he got KO.

i think everybody who pricks about like that show boating deserves to be KTFO

including Nate Diaz i’d love him to put his hands in the air & someone chin him

Oh I Hate it When Nick Does That.

Granted I hate it when Nick Diaz does anything. But I’m just waiting for KJ to clip him hard when he’s putting his ’sghetti noodle arms up in the air like an orangutan.

Shogun's knee will explode for the final time when Rashad shoots for the takedown.

Joe Warren may be a douche before and after his fights

but there’s something to be said about keeping it outside of the actual fight. Soto deserved to be KO’d for clowning around like that. I think that level of disrespect is uncalled for, specially when your opponent isn’t some fly by night asshole. Joe Warren may be a “dirtbag” but he’s put in work. At times, I like his confidence. Soto got for clowning around what most wish Anderson Silva would have gotten for all his clowning around. I for one am satisfied even though I was rooting for Soto.

Can’t believe I missed the fights! Pissed at myself.

It's possible that Santiago might have been injured as well, I lost because my best was insufficient, only mortifying thoughts remain now. I think I would've entered the ring even if I lost one of my legs, I'm a fighter who fights, not with technique, but with heart."

with Nick though..

it’s more style and less cocky, compared to this guy who was pure cocky

Finish Him!

by bigGcastle on Sep 3, 2010 12:20 PM EDT up reply actions

^^ this

I was just gonna say that. Nick does it to confuse, annoy, etc. his opponent – and it usually works. Soto was doing it just to dick around and showboat.

That happened to Nate at UFC 118

He got his chi checked while taunting marcus davis and almost got ko’d, got up and went right back to teasing

Wow...that was nice

You can never count that dude out. I dont agree, tho, that Soto’s striking was all that great. It looked good because Joe was just trying to grab a hold of him instead of throwing punches back. Of course he was landing because Joe’s arms were just sticking straight out while he tried to wrestle. If you cant hit someone like that then you suck haha
