Evan Dunham gets bit by "The Muscle Shark" at UFC 119 in Indianapolis. Where does Dunham's cut rank on your "worst of" list?
Thanks to Alex Garant for the tip.

Nasty
And now, I will move on from this thread and never return. I don’t need to see 15 more gifs of head gashes….
We fight, get beat, rise and fight again.
Even after a close call loss, and a NASTY! cut, bleeding like a stuck pick, this kid still ends the fight and yells “I love this sport.” I became a fan last night.

That is a good one; but I still think what Belfort put on Eastman was the worst

Who
Was that one fighter whose daughter had a brain tumor? That dude had the worst cut I’d ever seen. Fight was stopped like 3 times and he just keep screaming at the doctor " let me fight! This is nothing compared to what my daughter is going through" that man had the worst cut I’d ever seen, a flap of skin was hanging off. Guy was a stud and hope his daughter is alright, most emotional fight I’d ever seen

I don't know that it was the worst looking cut but the one I remember bleeding the most was
Edwin Deweese on TUF the comeback.

I only really remember him because
he was having a dig at Leban for being one dimensional and only being a brawler before their fight, and then Leban ends up subbing him. I thought that was hilarious.
sounds right

This cut alone wins Sean the fight.. It doesn't even matter if he was to get dropped 10 times, he wins. Fights should be judged on cuts and blood..

nasty cut
I don’t know a guy keep pushing through with his face basically falling off
Facial laceration and it's consequence
There is the potential for facial nerve paralysis and functional impairment. The face has a total of 23 paired muscles around the area of the eye. Severity dictates the timing if any is to be done. The surgeon should initiate reconstruction as soon as possible, generally within the first month. On the other hand, a patient with an intact nerve can be monitored for recovery for up to 12 months. The duration of the facial paralysis is essential. The reconstructive options for acute paralysis, paralysis for less than 18-24 months, and paralysis for greater than 18-24 months differ significantly. Dunham’s injury goes beyond the superficial layers. His injury should not be taken lightly, with up to a year of recovery time.
The surgeon need to establish realistic expectations and determine whether the patient is willing to expend the time and financial resources required for a successful result.
come on now, way to go ruin the party.

It would've sucked to cut off the fight
but if the fighter’s safety is really a priority, let’s be honest, it should’ve been stopped. that was terrifying to see.
Yeah, he won the fight to imo which sucks even more. Would have been a nice comeback victory.

The cut on Abe Wagner on TUF 10 was pretty nasty
but Dunhams looks worse than that. Struve had a nasty one, obviously Eastman.

Nick Diaz is a example of reckless abandon
Many fighters do not allow their injures sufficient time to heal following repair prior to sparring or actually fighting without head-gear. Often re-injuring the same wounds. This results in a vicious circle of injury and re-injury without true healing ever occurring. Let Them Fight
I first met Nick Diaz as a guest in my home. He and mutual friend were there to watch a televised UFC event. This was shortly after his [Nick’s] bout against K.J. Noons. Nick was obviously disgusted with the outcome, and unlike his TV persona had very few words on the matter. The fight was stopped due to the severity of the lacerations that Diaz sustained over his eyes during that fight. This was not the first time that this problem (cutting) has plagued Nick or other fighters.
Having seen the fight, I offered Nick a possible solution to his problem. A solution that would give him the best opportunity to finish fights without stoppage from cuts. He seemed very interested…this got his attention! I explained that as a reconstructive plastic surgeon, I have solid experience in treating facial trauma and complex wounds. Being an avid boxing and MMA fan, I had conceptualized a technique from several reconstructive facial that could be adapted for this purpose.
I began by explaining why I believed this was happening to him and other fighters. The mechanism is simple, the superior orbital rim, or bony ridge above the eye socket, acts as a sharp edge.(Figure 1A) A blow to the eye, usually straight punch or upper- cut, generates tremendous force against the skin over this bony ridge. The result is what is often referred to as a "blast type" laceration or cut. This occurs when these forces exceed the bursting-strength of the skin.
Every fighter’s skull is unique, and as a result, some fighters seem to be more prone to this type of injury than others. Nick Diaz is one of these fighters. What makes matters worse is the inadequate care that many of these fighters receive as treatment of these cuts. Skin is a multi-layered structure that should be closed (stitched) in several separate layers when injured. Most on-site fight doctors or emergency room physicians will close facial lacerations in one simple layer with a nylon suture that is then removed in 7-10 days.
(Figure 1A)
The normal skin healing sequence is as follows:
• At 2 weeks the wound has achieved about 20% of its pre-wound strength.
• By 5 weeks it is at about 50%.
• By 10 weeks it is at about 80% of pre-wound strength.
• Remodeling and maturation of the scar will continue for a year or more.
This is the actual assessment by Nick Stile, plastic surgeon who shaved scar tissue from around Nick Diaz’s eyes. He still bleeds from these areas around his eyes and he surely isn’t getting any prettier.
.........
wtf do you think you’re doing?

He's a new kind of troll that coyoteye
OJR said he was attempting to be the smartest guy in the room on another thread, and here he is again. Thank you Professor Troll!
Troll
a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into a desired emotional response1 or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.
I fail to see how Coyoteye fits this description. Long winded for sure but he seems to be adding to the conversation not just an off topic hit and run like an actual troll. And by the way OJR said he was attempting to be the smartest guy in the room, that was in this thread. A professor? Maybe. A troll? I think not. IMHO we can use all the intelligent posters we can get here on mania.
Do not. I repeat, do not, go to mma-core.com. I made the mistake of watching a couple UFC 108 bouts on there and I am still trying to get all the viruses of my computer. Ridiculous! You've been warned.

That's why I said "a new kind of troll"
I’m just messing around. He keeps posting these long informative fact oriented posts.
I just called him out because his first post was wrong. No nerve endings in the forehead to cause any facial paralysis. How do I know this? I am currently seeing a nurse who worked in the post surgery ward. I don't mind smart posters - just be real.

No offense to anyone
No offense to any of the posters. I am a RN in ER medicine and have witnessed the devastating effects of facial trauma. I was simply attempting to share a little and I mean a little bit of knowledge about facial trauma that I know.. By the way, the word “potential paralysis” not that this fighter had paralysis as a result to his injuries from Sherk. Again, if I hurt or demeaned anyone on this particular subject, my sincerest apologies. Thank-you, Fender for your most welcome response to my post.
you're insight is appreciated
I personally was just messing with you :). You’re posts are appreciated. We’re not easily offended around here!
worst cut?
Miguel Torres, went all the way down to the skull.
