UFC 119: What did Mirko 'Cro Cop' say to Frank Mir in round three?
Sounds like even they were getting bored...
Cro Cop: Let me go, lets go to the center and fight
Mir: Let's go to the mat
Cro Cop: OK - if I'm on top
Mir: We'll stay in the clinch"I'm sorry like a dog! I could eat myself alive! I can only congratulate Mir, he really caught me with that knee. But taking all circumstances in to consideration I think I did a pretty decent job. Its too bad because there was only a minute left to go [when I was stopped]. I had him against the fence and that was my chance. The deal with my coach was not to go in any hard exchanges until the third round because I thought I was not as prepared as him. But it turned out that I was more prepared than him. I felt more powerful than him in the third and I went after him aggressively. Too bad I caught that knee, but that's what this sport is about. I want to thank everybody for their support and apologize to the ones I've disappointed."
Mirko Filipovic apologizes to the fans for his main event performance against Frank Mir at UFC 119 on Sept. 25 (via Fighter's Only), but will the UFC give "Cro Cop" another televised fight to make it up to the them? More on their snoozefest by clicking here.

It isn't the UFC's choice in giving him another fight
he can’t be cut due to this loss.

maybe
but they can bury him on an undercard like they did to Arlovski

In this case, he buried himself and so did Mir, IMO.

I think CC's days of big fights in N.America are over
They might keep him on to shift some tickets on European Spike Cards.
CC will still sell in markets outside the US. I see Dana treating him like Hughes and giving him “interesting” fights “for the fans”. If Hunt isn’t retired, I could see Dana setting that fight up.
We fight, get beat, rise and fight again.
except Hughes is still far from done as a fighter and is a contender

eh
I am not comparing CC to Hughes in regards to talent, but Hughes has been picking his opponents for a while now. Hughes would not be a stiff challenge to anyone in the title mix at 170.
We fight, get beat, rise and fight again.
He knowes that
He knowes he wont be champ again, but hes still has the skills and HEART to keep fighting moderate opposition. No problem there.

i totally agree Cali
Just because you can’t be top 10 doesn’t mean you should retire. Hughes has been looking good against non-top 10 guys, because he is a non-top 10 guy himself. The same should go for Chuck. He wants to keep fighting, but cannot keep up with the top 10 dudes. So put him as a Co-Main against some guys more of his degrading level. Dont force retire anyone. Cop can still put some good fights together. I’m wanting to see Cop vs Nog 2. Similar decaying abilities, epic 1st match, interesting rematch.
It was funny at first, but its worked against me too many times now. FUCK the LATE TAKEDOWN!!

Its not about forcing anyone to retire but when you’ve lost more fights then you’ve won you need to take a major step down in competition and that usually means not fighting in the UFC.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic !
In Liddell and Hughes' case though, the UFC wont let them go.
Hughes is getting the fights around his current talent level, but Chuck is still taking on some of the guys who are near the top of the division. He needs to get rid of this one last title run dream and just start winning fights.
It was funny at first, but its worked against me too many times now. FUCK the LATE TAKEDOWN!!

Well Chuck got Franklin, and that was his first fight at 205
So not really a guy close to the top of the 205 division.
"NOBODY wants to fight Fedor." - Wanderlei Silva, former Pride MW Champion and GP winner
Franklins fought Hamill and Hendo at 205
but yeah I guess i didn’t mean to say top of the division, but Rich is considered one of the more skilled fighters, and is still very relevant in his career.
I failed to learn my lesson, once again ignoring the advice of David W-S and making myself look foolish. Clearly he knows a lot more than me, he wins 2-1.
Oh yeah those were at 205, my mistake.
Ya Chuck deserves a can now… he has been fighting good people forsure.

That is the only fight that makes sense. If he has to fight someone, that is the one they should make. He can still make that blond his bitch.

I wouldn't be so sure
The way chucks chin is now, even tito and his awful standup is more than capable of KOing Chuck. I really dont want to see Chuck end his career being knocked stiff in the centre of the octagon with tito doing his gay gravedigger mime act.
Give him Forrest Dump. He’s a name, popular, punches like a fairy and’s still semi-relevant. Someone you wont be gutted about if he loses, unlike tito.

I blame Mir more than I blame CC
There was a lot of hugging going on up against the cage after he failed again and again to get a TD. I don’t think a whole lot of people were expecting a lot of CC, the odds and the fans made it pretty clear who they thought was gonna win; so it was on Mir to win and win impressively and imo he didn’t do that.

Correct. But Ayotollah Dana White makes up the rules as he goes along. Just looks really unprofessional and reeks of a one man dictatorship.
Disagree
He isn’t required to give them out. I don’t believe there is a formal process. He just gives bonuses based on his own opinion of who deserves a little something extra. That is the problem with bonuses though, you give enough of them, they become expected.

I apologize to everyone I argured with, that was the worst main event I've seen in a while.
That being said I still give MIrko credit and Frank did come out with a very conservative gameplan, and Mirko took a fight with a top 10 HW without a full training camp.

I really have no idea if it was the worst card ever
On paper- it wasn’t something that got me excited, and so I didn’t order it. There are many, many fans (whose opinions I respect) who have indicated it was a terrible card (from a PPV perspective). It should have been a free card.
We fight, get beat, rise and fight again.
IMO the only really shitty fight was the main event
Guillard vs Stephens and Lil Nog vs Bader weren’t barn burners but they weren’t god aweful. Lytle vs Serra and Dunham vs Sherk were awesome.

I think too much attention is being put on Crocop. The guy took the fight on short notice against a top HW (in some people’s opinion… not mine).
It was a pretty boring fight, that I believe should be blamed on both fighters. In my opinion, I blame Mir more than Crocop. Mir was the one pushing him to the cage leaning on him. Not even trying to take him down or anything.
