Ring of Combat (ROC) 31 results from Atlantic City

Redline-wins_medium

Lou Neglia's Ring of Combat (ROC) blew the roof off the Tropicana Resort and Casino last Friday night (Sept. 24) in Atlantic City, New Jersey, featuring another stacked card of established and up-and-coming fighters from the East Coast and beyond.

ROC 31 played host to the continued rise of top welterweight prospect Chris Wing. "Redline" improved to 2-0 with a devastating knockout win over Yusuf Yoldas in the opening fight of the night.

The much ballyhooed main event between Chris Weidman and Urijah Hall did not disappoint, as the Serra-Longo standout found a home for his powerful left hand that led to a technical knockout stoppage late in the first frame.

The loss was Hall's first on the pro circuit while Weidman remains perfect at 3-0.

Full results from ROC 31 after the jump.

Red Line

This fight doesnt count for Red Line with his great amateur backround, he should be fighting better competition. Yusuf was an 0-2 amateur fighter getting knocked out in 10 seconds and choked out in 30 seconds. Surprised it took Red Line a 1:21 to finish him. Lets see u fight someone better next time bro.

They tried

Chris was offered a very prominent name — who turned them down. Can’t blame “Redline” for that — but I too am interested to see him take a step up.

It is not enough to succeed. Others must fail.

Red Lines Opponents

Hey Vic…this is Red Lines manager. Before we were given Yoldas were were offered George Sullivan who was 6-2 at the time. Chris had just won his first pro fight. To match him with a guy with 8 fights was too much. We were offered a second guy who had 6 fights, again too much.
We passed and were finally offered Yoldas.
When Chris gets 5 pro fights he’ll be ready to fight the very best regional guys…..
He’s young no need to rush him.

HDNet

Anyone know why HDNet stopped carrying Ring of Combat? They always put on a great show, and a lot of current UFC fighters have made stops there.

Red Lines Opponents Part Two

Yesterday we were offered Eric Oganov for a December fight. Oganov is 8-10, but check his record. He’s fought all over the world,…tons and tons of experience. My goal is to get Red Line to the UFC…..not destroy his pro career by overmatching him this early.

0-2 amateur record

Yes instead of testing urself, ur goin to face terrible competition. I mean u beat a guy who got knocked out in 10 seconds then choked out in 30 at the amateur level. How can u think thats a true pro win. Say what u want to say but ill be on ur ass til u impress me with a real win over a real pro. Go to the UG or facebook and post more stuff about urself. Ur amateur fights were ten times more impressive. So i guess u turned down Oganov ? Im a 1-0 amateur mma fighter, u wanna fight me ? or am i to qualified.

Red Line

Vic…I’ll say it again SLOWLY. I am Chris’s manager. Chris does not post under his name I do. I pick his opponents. Of course I turned down Oganov…..did you go to mma.tv and check his stats???? Do you think every fighter with a losing record is a bad fighter?
Maybe you should be asking the following:
1. Why did Yoldas’s camp turn him pro with such a short ammy career?
2. Why did they take the fight against Chris…….
Answer to 2. above….oh yeah they were “testing” him, and in the course of his “test” he got ko’d and now sits on a 0-1 pro record. Unlike ammy losses that don’t count. Pro losses are forever. Great way to test their fighter.

Chris will be on liguid lightning radio tonight at 8:00 http://llenergyradio.com/

I’m not sure if you can call in but if you can…..call in. If not I’ll try to address your concerns.

I am not hating on Chris Wing, I respect all fighters. Especially Mr. Wing, I followed his amateur career and was amazed how well-rounded he was. His wrestling and stand up are sensational for an ammy fighter. I was very happy to hear him turn pro and I know he has the potential to become a UFC fighter. So this where i bring in the controversy, hes ready for big time fighters, u dont think so trainer guy ? The kid is a beast. Chris Weidman took fights against big names early in his career and look at him now. 3-0 ROC middleweight champ. You dont think Chris Wing is ready for that ? if he wouldve face Oganov and can win in dominate fashion, he might get a shot at the belt after that or just have one more fight to reach that success. I feel like getting a fighter ready is important, but chris has so many ammy fights and has two pro fights. I’d like to see him in a war, instead of building up a record. He’s a pro now so get use to some jerkoffs saying shit.. I’ll call tonight if i remember.

Red Line

Vic……appreciate your support. You are certainly entitled to your opinion. I don’t want to mention names on this post. I constantly get calls from promoters that want to match Chris with guys that already have lots of experience. Sure Weidman is a stud look at his last fight. But for every Weidman that took “big” fights and won there are 5 guys that did not. Really good fighters with really bad records because they were handled poorly. A guy that I think is a good match for chris is, James Frier he just lost to Sullivan Frier is 3-2 excellent matchup for chris. Sullivan is 7-2……still too much for Chris
You are absolutely correct Vic……I can’t build Chris’s record to 10—0 against all bums…Joe Silva is not a retard……try to call in tonight….be nice to talk to you. I can explain in more detail….also go to chris’s fan page on facebook "Chris Red Line Wing. I’ll be leaving a post there for you….
Peace.

Red Line

Sounds good man, lets not forget that I’m a huge fan of MMA and a fan of Chris. When he knocked out James Funaro back when he was an amateur that was awesome. He’s faced the best amateur fighters on the east coast, their is no doubt in that. I just expected the same when he turned pro, but hey im just some guy on the computer. Ur the trainer, u no whats good for ur fighters. Ill call in tn, good luck the rest of the way.

Red Line

I always enjoy “lively” discourse Vic.
Yeah by Chris’s fourth ammy fight we were looking for the best that was out there. Chris fought and lost to Harley Beekman who I think is 3-0 as a pro and is now playing pro lacross. Yeah it was nice chris winning the three championships…..helped very much in marketing him. Ammy loses don’t count. When I speak to you tonight I’ll tell you more.
I was really scared for Chris going into the Yoldas fight….we had EVERYTHING to lose and not much to gain…….i don’t want to go thru that again anytime soon.
