Chael Sonnen to appeal failed steroid test

You didn't really think Chael Sonnen was going to take all this without putting up a fight, did you?
From Sonnen's manager Mike Roberts, via MMA Fighting:
"It is our policy not to comment on pending actions by the Athletic Commission. Chael is consulting with his legal advisors and physicians and will have a statement in the near future. Chael will file an appeal with the CSAC and looks forward to working with the Commission to resolve this matter."
Mr. Sonnen is currently starring down the barrel of a one-year suspension plus a $2,500 fine, assuredly nixing the rematch with Anderson Silva. Chael's appeal to the California State Athletic Commission will be heard on December 2 in Sacramento.
That gives the brash-talking middleweight approximately two and half months to work up a believable defense, certainly no small task. Any thoughts on the angle he'll take to try and save his career?

Even if it has never happened you have a policy. There are plenty of policies and procdures people/business have in place for things that may have never happened before. LIke sexual harassment policies or evacuation plans

I thought that it was already established,
that it wasn’t a banned substance per se. Instead it’s a PED that lead to higher levels of testosterone. Doesn’t sound like any normal flu med I’ve seen.

but my coach swears by it so i take his advice. it sure aint easy, and the girlfriend isnt a fan of the rule, but i just look at it as part of the discipline needed to be a fighter. and its only once or twice a year, i fight as a hobby not for a living.

Would you consider not having a tv license the same as murder since they are both crimes, DJ is just making a valid point, a normal joe bloggs would fail a test like this without ever having taken a PED, that is all he is saying is it not? If you went to the chemist and got something over the counter for lets say…‘the flu’….. and someone told you that you would fail an olympic style drug test PED’s if you took them, without even thinking you would say gtfo with that shit………..anything could set of alarm bells, that is all he is saying imo. This may not be fair to say...
But I’m a little sick of all the appeals that happen with PED’s and failed drug tests. Is it seriously that hard not to take something that will cause you to fail a drug test? There are pretty specific things they look for as far as I know, because it’s actually difficult to trace PED’s you haven’t encountered in the past. So the question is, we’re all grown men here, why can’t we keep track of what we put into our own bodies?? Of course Chael Sonnen will appeal, as have others in the past, because by taking these PED’s they have already disregarded the rules on the premise that they are somehow the exception and shouldn’t be held to the same standards as everyone else. Chael Sonnen’s appeal will undoubtedly look very similar to every other appeal of the past, and will include a whole bunch of “I didn’t know” testimony, as it is the only grounds to appeal the inexcuseable FAILING OF A DRUG TEST. I understand training is hard, but your opponent likely plays by the rules, so out of respect for the competition, you should do the same.. But I digress, I don’t care to debate the philosophy of PED’s.
