Frank Mir still interested in dropping to light heavyweight -- if the opportunity arises (Video)

Would a loss to "Cro Cop" on Saturday night help expedite the process?

Of course he is

He can talk all the smack he wants but he wants no parts of the top 4 HWs in the UFC.

Lesnar – would maul him again
Carwin – would kill another huge sum of brain cells
Cain – could follow Lesnar’s game plan from 100 and have the same results
JDS – would KO him in brutal fashion
Nelson – would expose him as not being as good on the ground as he says he is and yes I am saying that Nelson would beat Mir.

I can understand why he wants to drop to 205. I just think he would have the same trouble there. He is just plain not talented enough to be a champ in the UFC right now. Sad think is Overeem, Fedor, and Barnett would own him also in Strikeforce.

The 1st 2 are a given.. But you can not put Cain,JDS and Roy as a gaurantee victory over Mir.. Cain struggled w/ Kongo,JDS struggled w/ putting Roy away …We’ll see if they ever fight .. But Mir can hang w/ most Hw’s it is just the two best in the world he can’t match strength with..

MMAth doesn't work here....

The fact that both hit hard and that Mir doesn’t have enough wrestling to take either of those two down means that he’ll be forced to strike. Add in the fact that he wilts as soon as shots start landing – you got another brutal bashing.

Exactly

Even if he got Cain down I do not see him being able to hold him down or do anything and he would be scared to death of JDS.

I still think Nelson would truly expose him. Would be great especially because Mir has been vocal about Nelson needing to go down in weight and kind of putting himself above Roy

Great post ASR!

I think he loses to all of the ones you mentioned including Nelson!

Anderson Silva is by far the number one P4P king!!! Even when he is losing a fight he still comes back and finishes for the win! GSP dominates the whole fight and still can't finish! LOL

First Couture, now Mir considering… the heavyweight is up to Lesnar, Carwin, Velasquez and Dos Santos only?

Future light heavyweights:

Cro Cop, Big Nog, Roy Nelson, who else?

''A man is not finished when he's defeated; he's finished when he quits'' Richard M. Nixon on Fedor's loss

CroCop is gonna retire after thus Saturday.

Roy will never lose the weight. Big Nog will also retire when he is done at HW in my opinion.

Mir is just covering his bases for future money fights regardless of weight.

Yea Nog intimated that once he got the real UFC HW

belt that he would retire. Doesn’t seem likely now even though his optimal fight weight is around 231-235lbs. Cutting that shouldn’t be an issue seeing how his identical twin does it. But yea not likely that he would. Roy is definitely out. Mir is just babbling as always – he would never ever make it in the shark tank of 205; i doubt too many HWs aside from the top 4 could. Kinda sad when you think that the money weight in combat sports is one with generally the least skilled out of all the weight divisions.

Mir would get eaten

He has no hope of fighting effectively at 205. Even if he can get down to the weight he would be so depleted that his already questionable cardio would be even worse.

ASR is obviously another dumb Mir hater.

NOBODY wants to fight Fedor, Except: Brock Lesnar, Shane Carwin, Frank Mir, JDS, Roy Nelson, Cain Velasquez, Matt "Kimbo Killer" Mitrione(by popular demand) and the rest of the UFC heavyweight division.

Obviously

What was I thinking any 245 pound guy can cut down to 205 and have tons of energy to fight two days later.

I don't see hate at all, just truth!

cro cop will never drop the weight at this point in his career… it is apparent he is happy just plugging away and accepting a paycheck..

lol easy nostradamus

There was a whole month of discussion when Belfort got injured and we all were weighing in on who Silva might get. Back then Mir already mentioned he would fight Anderson at 235 or potentially catchweight.

And by the way:

That bashed me for making the comment Mir should drop to LW?

Mir as a lightweight? You must be very confused…

Mir as just a head can make LW.
