Josh Koscheck still hopes to fight 'sorry ass' Tito Ortiz -- if he has the guts to accept the fight

Kos-smiles_medium

Props: Bleacher Report

Quoteworthy:

"His head is on the block and next on the list. I walk around a solid 193 or so- I would be happy to fight (Tito Ortiz) at 205 if he would just find the guts to accept the fight. He never will but a man can hope. Don’t insult a man’s friends the way he insulted Mark Coleman (at UFC 109) and expect to not get smacked around for it. In fact I think I am going to learn open palm technique just for his sorry ass ... I’m the bad guy who will fight anyone. I want to be hated by my opponents and I don’t give a rat’s ass what anyone thinks about that. I just tell it how it is."

UFC welterweight number one contender Josh Koscheck hasn't let his pending rematch with Georges St. Pierre keep him from calling out Tito Ortiz. "Kos" was critical of "The Huntington Beach Bad Boy" for giving a laundry list of excuses for his UFC 106 loss to Forrest Griffin. Koscheck also called Ortiz a "douche" for trying to clown Mark Coleman after "The Hammer" was submitted by Randy Couture at UFC 109. Does anyone have a desire to see these two hash it out inside the Octagon? And could Koscheck hang at 205-pounds -- even against a past-his-prime Ortiz?

He wouldn't be a WW, he would be a LHW!

I wouldn’t care who won! Used to be a big Tito fan, but I can’t support a fighter that can’t give any kudos to his opponent and just offers up excuses! The “broken Face” excuse was the last straw for me! And when he speaks I feel embarrassed for him. I want my money back for 2 Team Punishment T-shirts that I have. And why Do they give him the mic when he loses??? Like the last Forrest fight! WTF!?

Anderson Silva is by far the number one P4P king!!! Even when he is losing a fight he still comes back and finishes for the win! GSP dominates the whole fight and still can't finish! LOL

You're missing the point.

He’s a natural welter-weight in the same way that Tito is a natural light-heavyweight. That is, he cuts 20-25 lbs the same way Tito does.

Not sure why he is talking about anyone else right now. GSP may be boring to some but I do not see anyone coming in and beating him unless his long layoff results in a ton of ring rust

I think so also

Just stating that is pretty much the only way I see someone coming in and beating him. He is too dominant when it comes to controling the fight. He can keep it standing if he choses or take it to the ground and control them there also. Someone is going to need to throw something crazy at him to take him off his game to beat him.

St-Pierre moves excellently on his feet but

his head movement is still his main flaw. Too many unnecessary punches find their mark. Fortunately he has very good chin but one day again, he could get seriously caught. that is the most probable way for a GSP loss to happen again.

Agreed

I just think it will have to either be the first shot or that the first shot rocks him bad enough to get pounded out immediately. Whenever he even comes close to taking the bad end of an exchange he goes for the TD. Very smart on his part but your right that will be the way he eventually loses again.

Tito would have to chop his head off and fight with only that, since his head actually weighs 193 lbs.

Wouldn’t have to be a catchweight. Tito just needs to cut down at his normal fighting weight and Kos not cut anything. LHW 186-205. But Tito’s head actually doesn’t weigh 193. It is empty.

because forrest fucking sucks. Forrest is the worst excuse for a champion ever inthe company’s history he’s good at nothing and has no power. The only reason tito fought him is because they’re both part of the LHW money circuit. Tito is not that powerful either and if you think about kos isn’t much smaller than machida who is really a mw and handled Tito easily, even without a wrestling background. Kos’s fight to lose.

Sick of people giving Forrest credit for the Shogun fight!

God I hope they fight again, but doubt it bc unless Forrest gets lucky again, there is no way he works far enough up the ladder to reach Rua! It is so clear that Shogun had cardio issues due to his injuries. Not hating on Forrest, it’s just a fact! Shogun would murder him now!!! Well, maybe not now, but you know what I mean. lol Oh and an indication of what kind of shape he was in, watch the Colmen fight.

2 sides of the same coin.

I find it annoying when people completely discredit all of his wins. Beating Rampage, Shogun and Tito is impressive regardless of the conditions in which they fought. Forrest certainly doens’t have any dominant skills, but he’s very well-rounded and it’s foolish to deny credit for some very impressive victories. I can’t stand when people make endless apologies for losses by fighters like BJ and Rampage, and in the same vein I can’t stand when people go to ridiculous lengths to discredit other fighters’ wins.

Forrest has been nothing but protected by the UFC. This is a guy who got knocked out by Jardine for Christ’s sake. He beat a clearly unprepared Shogun, a Rampage (who I also think is terrible) who had never seemed to have heard of these things called “kicks” and has 2 split decisions over the ufc marketing product/ walking clown tito. So yes, i believe the 3 champions u mentioend are all awful with the exception of shogun, who would destroy him if he were at 100%. And he can’t even convincingly beat a washed up Tito!!!

Every time ppl try to defend forrest they bring up all these supposedly huge wins but how about looking at him as a fighter instead of a record. Forrest would probably be an underdog against any top 15 opponent he was matched up against because his skills are just shitty. He’s slow, unathletic, has no chin, no punching power, and no wrestling. The best part of his game is probably his bottom game jj but even that isn’t great. If the UFC stops protecting him he will get destroyed in bout after bout.

Protecting him? I'm sorry, but that is just plain stupid.

He was scheduled to fight Machida, but got staph. He stepped up to fight Shogun when he came from Pride and was supposedly #1 in the world, fought Rampage at his peak, fought Anderson fucking Silva for christs sake, was scheduled to fight little Nog. How the hell is that protecting?

He does not have the best skill set, but has done unbelieveably well with the skills that he does have and shows more heart than most. I may joke about some of the things he has done, but he will always have my respect.

by BNF on Sep 20, 2010 4:29 PM EDT up reply actions

He’s protected in the sense that he gets to continuously fight big names so he only has “good” losses rather than getting exposed as an overhyped UFC product. If he fights someone like Brilz, Jones, bader, hell even Vera or COuture, I will not say he’s being protected.

Instead he chooses high-reward, low-risk fights like Tito over fights with people who are perhaps less well-known but much better fighters. For example, fighting AS is being protected in the sense that your stock can only drop so much with a loss to Silva. It’s all reward and no risk, like virtually all of his matchups.

By the way, the UFC knew Silva was going to destroy forrest because of forrest’s aggressive brawlin, lack of a chin, lack of good technique in defense, and slow/unathletic striking…which is why they made that fight to repair Silva’s reputation after the Cote and leites debacles.

I don't understand this argument at all.

You hate on him because he takes fights with guys that are better than him on paper. He should be commended for that. If it were the other way around he would be a can crusher that is also being protected my the UFC.

The UFC also knew he was going to lose to Shogun and Rampage, but that didn’t work out so well for them.

of course they did. matching shogun up with forrest was a win-win and matching him up against rampage was also a win win.. the UFC makes a ton of money and Dana is never going to sell Forrest out, hell Stephan Bonnar is still getting main card fights and he looked like he could beat Forrest in his last fight.

by RoBerto. on Sep 20, 2010 8:06 PM EDT up reply actions

He wouldn’t be a can crusher because he would be destroyed by the cans he fought. I honestly don’t think I’d bet on forrest over anyone in the top 20 in the world. Instead he fights “only against” elite guys so he “only has elite” losses which is just fucking bs. a loss is a loss and people dumb enough to buy into this whole “elite of the division” hype are fools. if he were ifghting lower “ranked” guys like he should after two KO losses in a row he’d be thought of as totally irrelevant now like he rightfully should.

After losing two in a row, instead of taking a step down in terms of risk reward he gets another big name who poses no threat (or should not, amazingly forrest is so bad that even tito arguably beat him or at least should have gotten a draw) in Tito. The ufc is protecting him by continuously giving him big names to prop up his image as a top fighter.

Jardine got the opposite treatment, actually having to PROVE he belongs at the “top” and failed miserably. Despite beating CHuck and forrest, he had to fight the Alexanders, Vera’s, Silva’s, Bader’s, and Hammill’s of the world (all of whom would beat forrest) and looked awful in all of those fights.

Blatant Forrest hate

where does this come from?

Point to the place on the dolly where he touched you.

I don’t understand how you don’t recognize his wins against rampage and shogun. I’m the biggest fan out there of shogun (vai brazil!) and yeah, he wasn’t 100%, but Forrest beat him. He beat rampage. 2 guys he was brought in against TO LOSE. And that’s why he’s beloved by fans- he’s the underdog. And he consistently puts on awesomely entertaining fights…in fact…isn’t he involved in the number 1 fight of all time (according to dana white, of course), and credited as helping to save the UFC in putting on an incredible fight?

I don’t get your argument both guy fought top talent and Jardine is proving himself while Forrest isn’t? Holding wins over two of the top five guys in the division is pretty good if you ask me, and Forrest has hung in there with other great fighters. I can understand not liking Forrest (well no I can’t but to each their own) but the guy has proved himself to me and I believe his spot in the top ten is justified. frosnt1 is right..

a win is a win and a loss is a loss. any top 20-30 fighter could’ve won over Shogun hell Mark Coleman almost beat him and that should be fucking enough said. Forrest was getting his brain messed up in the 1st round against Rampage who was in terrible condition, his eyes rolled back on the knockdown and the fight should’ve ended there if Rampage knew better than to jump into the guard position, he was later saved by something that rarely ever happens, Rampage’s leg gave out, still he arguably beat Forrest, not impressive at all. Does anyone have a desire to see these two hash it out inside the Octagon? And could Koscheck hang at 205-pounds — even against a past-his-prime Ortiz?

I’m more than OK with this fight eventually happening. No matter who loses, the fans win.

…Kos vs. Ortiz…that’s way too much bleach-blonde hair for one fight… couldn’t handle it…

lol

Anderson Silva is by far the number one P4P king!!! Even when he is losing a fight he still comes back and finishes for the win! GSP dominates the whole fight and still can't finish! LOL

Tito won't take the fight with Kos

Tito won’t risk the chance of getting embarressed there’s no upside for Tito expect getting the opportunity to elbow Kos in the face
