Strikeforce champ Alistair Overeem wants to see Fedor Emelianenko fight 'Bigfoot' Silva ...

... according to a few recent Twitter transmissions from the "Demolition Man" (@alistairovereem) directed toward Antonio Silva:
"Everybody is talkin about me and Fedor, it’s not fair to you. Fedor should fight you in December, then problem is solved..... The real reason M-1/Fedor called me out is to distract attention of a possible match with Silva. He wants Fedor but M-1 don’t want Silva."
Apparently Strikeforce Heavyweight Champion Alistair Overeem agrees with Antonio Silva that Fedor Emelianenko should fight "Bigfoot" next. Silva has asked for this fight, but the Russian's cagey camp doesn't seem interested. Overeem has already stated that because Fabricio Werdum defeated Emelianenko, and because he's currently out of commission recovering from elbow surgery, that he intends to enter the 2010 K-1 Grand Prix tournament and wait until he's healthy. Emelianenko's camp recently attempted to goad Overeem into a fight, releasing a statement essentially calling him out, but the Dutchman is not biting. Are there any other options left or is an Emelianenko-Silva showdown the only one left on the table?

Overeem playing the matchmaker role. Very nice.

How's that conflicting? He'saying he still is doing K1 and Fedor will have to wait.
Fedor wants to fight before the end of the year so the best match up Fedor can get is Big Foot. And as far aas the Overeem and Fedor fight happening in the future., I’ll believe it when the papers are signed.

How destroyed would Fedors legacy be if he lost to big foot? The guy that got out struck by Fabricio Werdum.
You just proved yourself wrong.
You say losing to Bigfoot would’nt be bad and then you explain how Bigfoot isn’t very impressive.
Triangles don't dodge Fedor.
I think he was saying it WOULD be bad for Fedor’s legacy…but Bigfoot is certainly no can and he had that fight against Werdum won…
Goldberg on Leben: One thing's for sure--he really did break that door on the Ultimate Fighter.
Rogan: uh...yeah.
Opps read that wrong, sorry Jared.
Big foot is more bark then bite, But he does have a shot to win..
Triangles don't dodge Fedor.
It wouldn't be he still would be the greatest of the Pride Days and old UFC days and greatest HW ever.
Times change though and MMA has evolved as has the fighters, so it’s going to be tough for any HW to continue a winning streak like his. Back in Pride there were very few fighters that could train full time and just focus on MMA, and those are the guys that did well in there sports. Now days most fighters have the ability to fight and train full time. As well back then there were many lopsided fights with fighters that had very little MMA experience that many of these guys fought but it goes with the time and era of MMA.
We even see guys catching up to BJ and Silva who once were thought as untouchable in their divisions a year ago. There is better training, from being able to bring different coach’s in from different styles of MMA, to better equipment to train with and most importantly the time to train.
Fedor back in Pride was one of the best trained fighters and it showed, now he is in norm. The fighters that have evolved and got better that fought back in Pride were mostly young guys but the older guys that did most likely had better training after.
Fedor is a legend and one of the many fighters that helped pave the way and evolve the sport to were it is, we should show respect to the man for that. If you think he would lose to so and so thats fine and not disrespectful even if some of Fedor fans tell you otherwise. Lets just enjoy the fights that he has left. I hate M1 and the way they do business and I feel tarnish Fedors legacy more than Fedor can losing to anyone ever by not facing who the fans want to see him face. Losing does not take away what you have accomplished just look at CC he is still very well respected as is the greatest MMA fighter ever period(any division)Wanderlei “The Axe Murder” Silva!

Fuck Fedor
Im sick of hearing about him and M1. He lost and in NO WAY deserves a title shot after a loss. Fedor/M1 fucked up his career and continue to do so. Sure he dominated in Pride but thats about it. If he is the best ever, like you say, then why dodge the UFC and dont tell me its promotion crap. If anything his promotion, M1, knows he would get bombed on by Brock, Carwin, Cain, Dos Santos and thats why he hasnt signed with the UFC. Who’s he fought since Pride, a bunch of cans. Sure, tell me he beat Tim Sylvia and Arlovski whom both got dropped by the UFC. He won’t come to the UFC because any top HW in the UFC would beat Fedor, even Randy. He may have been the best at one point in his career, but not even close now. The best ever fights whoever, whenever, wherever and beats the fuck out of him. That’s not Fedor, maybe in Pride but that was how many years ago? Anderson Silva fights anyone, BJ Penn fights anyone(despite 2 back to back losses), GSP fights anyone. Fedor’s legacy is tarnished, for all the bullshit with the UFC and then loosing to Werdum. The only reason he wants Reem is cause he has the belt and if he looses he can just say I lost to the HW champ its not that bad. Now if he fights Bigfoot and lost, then what. After Pride, Fedor hasnt fought anyone that would last a month in the UFC or that’s were they’d be. I used to love Fedor but the past 3 years have really made me hate him
Fedor, just retire so we can stop talking about you and fire everyone at M1

First, no one "fucked up" Fedor's career, as it is one of, if not the most storied in MMA history currently.
Second, when Fedor was a free agent Brock, Carwin, Cain and Dos Santos were relatively or nearly completely unknowns. I agree it’s M-1’s shenanigans that has kept Fedor out of the UFC, but don’t act like he was ducking fighters that no one even knew of at the time when he signed his contract. That’s just BS. Third, Fedor has said time and again he doesn’t care about being the best ever, he doesn’t want anyone to look at him as a god as some crazy fans have, he says he just fights for a living, and fights who he’s told to fight. So while you do have a point about the best going out and looking for the best, Fedor has never claimed to be the best or anything like that. I understand the frustration as a fan, because I share that frustration, but I can also try to understand Fedor’s position. Also, Fedor was scheduled to fight Couture when he was ranked 2nd or 3rd, and he was scheduled to fight Barnett when he was ranked #2. That’s two examples post-PRIDE where he was to fight the best guys in the world in the division. Let’s not pretend like all M-1 has been setting up are Hong Man Choi’s. We can all agree that M-1 blows, but you can’t use revisionist history to make Fedor sound like a fight dodger, because that’s not a fair assesment of the events that transpired.

Good post Dice
And honestly the hong Man fights every once in awhile are just entertaining fights “freak shows” if you will and not ment to be championship or top contender fights and this one even showcases that skill is more important than size. The part that pisses me off most about M1 is when they set up a fight like Hong Man or Sylvia even is they try to promote as if this fight would prove he’s #1? Do you think we are that stupid M1?

Thanks, I appreciated yours as well. M-1 is a joke. I really wonder if the rumors of mob connections are true, and if that's one of the reasons Fedor has stuck with them.
Considering Alek’s alleged mob ties, and everything else, I wouldn’t be shocked if there was a lot of baggage in that whole arrangement. And I agree, freak shows are what they are, I personally don’t dislike them so long as they are not supposed to make some sort of statement. It’s kind of like watching the Harlem Globetrotters. It’s entertaining, but don’t dress it up to be something meaningful.
"It's not what you know, it's what you can prove."
What do you think of a possible Big Foot & Fedor fight?
Besides Werdum and Overeem, is this the best possible match up that can happen this year?
"Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth - Mike Tyson
I think so, outside of a Barnett fight in Dream. I think it would be a good fight, but would give Fedor the advantage in probably all areas besides size, but I don't think the advantages would be as great as some may initially think.
I honestly think that Bigfoot is around Mir’s caliber, with Mir holding the ground advantage. I think they’re standup is about equal, and they’ve both come a long way recently in that department. I was really impressed with the way Bigfoot looked on the feet against Arlovski. Bigfoot spent a lot of time on the ground with Werdum so he’s certainly no slouch in that department. I think he gives Fedor a good fight, with Fedor finding a way to win. Now that I think about it, I’d really like to see a Bigfoot-Mir fight. I may be overestimating Bigfoot a little, but I guess we will see how good he really is after a couple more fights. I believe he broke into the top-10 recently. Maybe a bigger version of Gonzaga is a more appropriate comparison. I don’t know, what do you think?
"It's not what you know, it's what you can prove."
I like the GG comparison and feel thats farely accurate.
He’s not great at any one phase he’s jsut good at pretty much every phase. His biggest weakness is his speed were I think Fedor will pick him apart and for BF to win I think he needs to get Fedor down were he can use weight advantage, but becasue of the lack of speed I can’t see this happening. He’s one of those fighters that impressed me but he needs to find a way to finish and push the fight. Standing I think Fedor will use a similar style that he used against Sylvia and could easily have the same sucess.

Fuck that the fans want to see the Reem fight Fedor
August 28th was an emotional day for me. Two events occurred that brought me to my knees:
1. BJ Penn lost to Frankie Edgar for the second time, proving to me that he is nowhere near the caliber of man that I made him out to be.
2. I found out that the cardio portion of Frankie Edgar’s training camp consisted of Frankie banging my mom while the arm.bar.bandit played the spanish guitar and sang "Eye of the tiger" by Survivor.
It would but none of the MMA companies M1 /strikeforce would benefit
Under K-1 it would be only standing of course
