UFC 118: Gabe Ruediger likely to return despite Aug. 28 shellacking

Quoteworthy:
"I took this fight with 2 weeks to prepare and I truly felt that I would be ready. Would it have been different with a full camp? I'll probably never know. I am very disappointed with my performance and have a LOT to work on when I get home. I spoke with Joe Silva from the UFC and he told me I would have at least one more chance and next time I would have the proper time to prepare. For that I am happy, but I still cant believe how bad that fight was for me. I have 4 staples in my head and some bruising, but the real pain deeper. Ill be back to the gym as soon as I can to work out what went wrong and to prepare to come back stronger. For those that support me, I am very sorry for this performance. It wasn't deserving of any support."
Former TUF 5 contestant and unofficial cake boss Gabe Ruediger is expected to get one more chance to prove he belongs in the UFC after getting dominated by Joe Lauzon at UFC 118 last Saturday night (Aug. 28) in Boston. "Godzilla" stepped up on short notice to replace the injured Terry Etim and hopes to have a better performance in his next fight. Anyone think he's got the goods? Or can we expect more of the same his next time out?

Its athletes like reutiger...
That make me realize I could have been in the big show if I took the right routes…. seriously, I know its gonna sound cocky and maybe called a keyboard arrior or whatever.. but im 100X the natural athlete than reutiger.. believe that, hes a joke.
It looks like not much has changed...

Lauzon took it to him
I think part of the problem for Gabe was that Lauzon went out like the stadium was on fire and he needed to finish the fight and get the hell out. I noticed that Lauzon left absolutely no time when transitioning between moves. I see a lot of fighters work in more of a slow methodical stepwise progression (get the takedown, get comfortable in guard, try to pass etc.). Lauzon was mad fast and awesome to watch and I’m a big fan now after that performance.
I sometimes wonder why other fighters don’t go balls out like Lauzon did. I know you could gas but the 155’ers can go pretty hard for a long time if they train for it. I’m wondering if ANS or any guys that fight can tell me, do fighters tend to train cardio as much as they could?
I’ve always believed a lot of fights come down to cardio and the guy to gas first loses. I noticed that the Diaz bro’s who have both recently been competing in triathlons are doing very well lately.

I think that is a huge risk for a guy to come out that hard and fast to start a fight. A guy could easily gas themselves out. The thing about it is, if the is the game plan, you prepare that way for sprint-speed action. So when it comes down to your opponent, unless he trained the same way, if he fights at the same speed to keep up he will probably drain faster. And if he tries to ride the tide and let you gas yourself out (dangerous against a guy with finsihing skills like Lauzon has demonstrated), he runs the chance of taking massive damage (like happened to Gabe).

It wasn't that Joe threw punches in bunches, but rather each one was thrown very heavy.
Terry Etim would have been a better fight. I can’t wait to see who Joe fights next. That YouTube video of Jens and Gabe is funny. Speaking of Jens he’s still trying to figure out what went wrong when he fought Joe. Gabe will be haunted by this too. It’s simple Joe was at the top of his game.
