That's according to "The Voice" Michael Schiavello, who made the announcement during the Sept. 17 King of the Cage (KOTC) "No Mercy" event on HDNet:

October 2nd in Seoul, live on HDNet, in a superfight making his K-1 debut, former UFC Heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski, yes we will have live October 2nd from Seoul only on HDNet. Andei Arlovski makes his K-1 debut.

No word on who yet on who his opponent will be but the "Pitbull" has dropped three straight as a mixed martial arts competitor under the Affliction and Strikeforce banners.

The K-1 World Grand Prix Final 16 will go down on October 2 from Olympic Park in Seoul and feature Alistair Overeem vs. Australia's Ben Edwards along with Jerome LeBanner vs. Kyotaro.

More on information on this still-developing fight card as it becomes available.

We already saw what happens to Belarus when it goes up against Russia

For AA sake we dont need to see it happen again.

AA just needs to get a streak going..

whether it be K-1, MMA, boxing, whatever. He just needs to string a few good performances together to get that confidence back.

Win, lose or draw, I’ll always be an AA fan.

Karaev would absolutely wreck him

Karaev is a beast offensively, he could have been champ numerous times if it wasnt for his godawful defense/chin.

you are overrating karaev

The present karaev doesnt have his heart in fighting anymore (just like crocop)

He doesnt put in the training and focus that is needed on this level.

Karaev vs Arlovski with be a great and exciting matchup and more competitive than you would think.

drew look in the fanshot section just b/c i want a reliable witness to the tickets.

I'm all about covering the spread and moneylines. Glory favors the bold. Chance favors the prepared mind. Luck, well i have that too. University of Utah goes to the Pac-12 conference in 2011. I expect them to compete immediately for the conference CG. Brock Lesnar will defeat Cain Velasquez. The most hated and misunderstood person on the MMA blogs.. Utah and Boise take care of business in week one. Don't be surprised if they both go undefeated.

oh come on eddy

Badr would trounce AA. I would bet almost anything on it.

As we always suspected - Jackson's MMA secures another victory under suspicious circumstances. Freenow82 called it and is seldom wrong when pre diagnosing a Lay n Pray / Vaseline victory before it happens. Free 2 - BZ 3... I smell a come back.

badr has way too much on his plate to even be in the event.

love it

Always thought AA had a great standup and mixes everything well up. And in the Silva fight he showed that his chin can take a punch.

BADLY!!

Ever seen the Jerome Le Banner vs Don Frye fight from Pride under k1 rules?? I see a frye type fate befalling AA if he’s given anyone remotely near the top of the K1 food chain.

Yup

Suspect chin in MMA doesn’t bode well for K-1

by PetrozellisJab on Sep 18, 2010 12:19 PM EDT up reply actions

why all the chin talk?

Any K1 fighter will get KO’d just the same if hit clean.

^^This

And I would say the same thing if he was to try boxing. Any high level boxer would put his lights out with ease.

by PetrozellisJab on Sep 18, 2010 12:39 PM EDT up reply actions

Exactly the same with boxing

Having decent MMA standup holds no water against professional strikers in striking sports. I remember when people were argueing AS could beat RJJ, same applies as there – no chance!

It feels weird commenting on this site now after so long. I still look at the posts, but the amount of retards commenting just puts me off now, Mania is bigger, but not better.
AA is 1st a kickboxer with sambo skills. He will have no problem being highly competetive in K1, even against the big guns like Hari.

by Insain on Sep 18, 2010 1:34 PM EDT reply actions

Think you've got that the wrong way round

AA is primarily a sambo fighter with some kickboxing experience.

To compete at K1 you need to be a TOP class striker. Having a bit of background in this and a bit in that isn’t a recipe for success. Your bread and butter has to be STRIKING and for AA it isn’t. To suggest that because he’s done a bit of kickboxing he could instantly hang with Hari et al is ludicrous.

AA would get raped by all the top guys – FACT!

+1

you said it bro, but it’ll be cool to see if AA can get a few wins in K-1 tourney, give him some confidence

by jason*bourne on Sep 18, 2010 2:51 PM EDT reply actions

Hold up wait a minute let me put sum HARI IN IT!!!

Go big or go home! AA will get mauled by any decnt K-1 fighter. So let’s see him go head up w/hari, schilt, or ghita! U can’t tell me those fights won’t be exciting. I’m sure badr won’t have. Problem welcoming a mMA fighter 2 k-1.

by d*locc on Sep 18, 2010 2:53 PM EDT via mobile reply actions
