The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 12 premieres to 1.6 million viewers

Tuf12bannergeneric_medium

The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 12 premiered this past Wednesday featuring coaches Georges St. Pierre and Josh Koscheck with an average of 1.6 million viewers tuning in.

Spike TV officials reported the ratings earlier today.

The debut episode, as has been the case recently, saw potential "official" cast members fight to get on the show and into the house. 28 lightweights threw down in the most important bouts of their life with 14 of them coming one step closer to realizing their ultimate goal of becoming a UFC fighter.

The premiere ratings are in line with past seasons of TUF, all except of course TUF 10 which featured one Kimbo Slice and saw 4.1 million fights fans tune in who apparently couldn't help but see what the bearded brawler was all about.

TUF 12 will serve as the lead up to the welterweight title fight between GSP and Koscheck, which is set for UFC 124 on December 11 in Montreal.

Kimbo > GSP

Not only does BJ Penn quit on his stool versus guys that are bigger than him...He gets tooled by guys that are SMALLER than him. BJ should just stick to jumping out of pools, not fighting. I shoulda listened to Ulf.

Does it really surprise you at all?

Where else in pop culture does it matter how good you are (other than the actual competition sports)? Does it matter what a good musician you are? No what matters is you look good and can be marketed and what producer you can get a hold of. The mass public do not care about how good you are, they care about how good publicity spin and package make you look/seem.

Agree. I should have been more specific I guess. I was making a joke about Kimbo being better in mma than GSP. I like to poke fun of GSP. I guess my joke failed. And no, it does not surprise me that there are that many dumbasses out there. The world is full of them. Jersey shore is considered a “good” show. We shouldn’t really have to say anything else.

the Jersey Shore phenomenon pisses me off

It's possible that Santiago might have been injured as well, I lost because my best was insufficient, only mortifying thoughts remain now. you'd have a ratings winner there

next TUF, team jersey shore vs team survivor villians. who needs actual fighters? better yet, make them eat roaches and fight on a giant swinging nerf ballsack

10 million viewers right there. it’s sad that a tv show is judged on how many people it will get to sit through the commericials in it’s add breaks

you know the producers have to be going crazy after GSP's persona in that first episode

After the few people who have come out and said that its the spike producers of the show making the final choices about who gets on and who doesn’t based on personality, you know they have to be going nuts having to put up with GSP’s extra bland personality

lol...

like when he crossed out that one fighter before the fight even started? MAAAAAN, they ran with that. Kos all over it, too. I immediately tweeted GSP, Kos, and Dana and asked if he crossed him out cause he doesn’t like the “rugged” look and wasn’t cute enough.

no response lol

i was jumping fo joy over it

i find gsp very smug and arrogant. he just oozes it. witing off that guy in that manner on a tv show in an uppity way when you talk about repecting fighters. at least with kos it’s out there and he makes no apologies or tries to hide the fact that he’s a douche.i can’t believe i’m actually saying this, as i do hate kos, but i’m routing for him all the way on this. i woud love for him to beat gsp in the show and in their fght…then i want kos to immediately lose to another fighter, and maybe dissapear off my tv forever

by Totomamma on Sep 17, 2010 3:51 PM EDT up reply actions

ha

your sentiments are too far off from my own. GSP comes off the same way to me as well. I don’t hate on Kos as much. He plays the villain very well, but I think he is actually much more of a level headed type guy in person.

Not only does BJ Penn quit on his stool versus guys that are bigger than him...He gets tooled by guys that are SMALLER than him. BJ should just stick to jumping out of pools, not fighting. I shoulda listened to Ulf.

I agree on KOS w/ Deuce

although I’d like him gone from my TV as well lol.

On GSP I fall somewhere in the middle. i think GSP is a great athlete who believes very much so in his own ability. he’s naturally quiet and introspective, unless, probably, in a very comfortable setting. But he does seem to have believed his own hype and seems to be very full of himself…I want him off my TV as well lol

i don't think he's naturally quiet

i think he’s learned to keep his mouth shut in a self censoring way so he doesn’t put his foot in it. he goes on about respect and he’s trying his hardest to erase the matt hughs cage storming incident. but he slips, and it shows through. writing off a fighter based on nothing in his smug way, all proud and joking with dana about it. after matt serra beat him, i vaguely remember him making excuses and tryng to belittle matt’s victory in an interview, he showed serra respect on the night to his face then snivvled about it later

by Totomamma on Sep 17, 2010 4:18 PM EDT up reply actions

i agree actually

i think if you spent enough time with both of them…and this is my opinion based on how my own brain works, not on any sort of factual evidence before i get jumped by guys who are all “i met gsp and he was cool”

i think if you spent a large amount of time with both fighters, with kos you’d come out thinking better of him and gsp you’d come out thinking less of him.

by Totomamma on Sep 17, 2010 4:12 PM EDT up reply actions

agree 100%

Again, none of us really have no clue what any of these guys are like, but my brain processes GSP the same way you do. If it weren’t for the fact that he is gay, he would totally be slapping everyone else’s girls asses.

Like, I get it

There’s a lot of meat heads that watch this sport. Thank you Deuce, Totoma, and Onemansyn for making that quite clear. Now, it’s just a reality show, and if you’re really so concerned with their personalities then just consider this: in the end, in the UFC, the loud mouth dousche bag fighters always end up being the real gay pussies (especially since Kos gets poked by phantom fingers during fights). GSP will destroy! He seems humble and not narcissistic like fighters like Tito.

For as much as Dana has expressed his love for GSP, and not have to much care for KOS.. On this episode did you see during all the fights, Dana kept turning to KOS and would say things like “wow did you see that?” and “damn this kid has a lot of heart” what not.. He barley even turned to talk to GSP. And im pretty sure GSP was getting butt hurt! ha
