Silva had an intercostal muscle strain in the right lower anerior chest (ribs 8-9 and 9-10 were affected). Anybody here ever have a true muscle tear between the ribs? Every breath hurts as does every twisting motion of the torso…i.e. every punch, kick, faint, elbow and breath caused severe pain. Watch the film of the fight. Are you seeing the Anderson Silva of old? He’s running on guts guys. I am no fan of Silva’s past antics but I am an MMA fan and that fighter is a FIGHTER! Sonnen too is a great fighter, but I now want to see him fight after a few months of random drug testing of BOTH blood and urine, because I want to see who he is when he isn’t cheating.

The main symptoms are:
-Running your mouth to ridiculous levels to keep yourself relevant and make up for your lack of talent/excitement.
-Making delusional claims and boasts and failing to back them up.
Sonnen sold the last fight pretty well (although the numbers weren’t great) but by the end, his schtick was all getting VERY old and tired, and I’m personally dreading another bout of Sonnen trash talking. We’ve heard it all before twice over now and it’s sooooooooo stale.
Bisping has never ran through guys as good as Marquardt or Okami,
and he will never get the opportunity to fight for a title shot and completely dominate, a P4P champ. He doesn’t have to run his mouth to remain relevant, his beatdown of Silva did that for him. Silva should have asked for a rematch after that match, just to prove a point and to show that his victory wasn’t purely down to Sonnens error, but he and his camp wanted nothing to do with him. I would have given him more respect if they hadn’t of done that. There was nothing especially great about Silvas last few performances and Sonnen made made him look pretty average and not like some sort of Phoenix rising from the flames that his fans seemed to have convinced themselves of. Sonnens last three fights have convinced me he will be the one walking away with the belt more so than anything I have seen from Silva of late.

I hate both fighters personally, what I want to know is if Silva’s alleged rib injury was genuine and if he was legitimately hampered first time round.
If it was genuine then I believe he wins easily second time. But if the same Silva turns up again, not even Sonnen and his atroscious sub defence could possibly be daft enough to throw another fight away.

On one hand, I can understand that despite his douchebaggery, Sonnen has his fans and Andy his detractors who are in love with the notion that Chael might dry hump Andy to death and take the title, and Dana wants to appeal to that base. Plus, there aren’t really that many strong contenders who Andy hasn’t beaten already or have the wins to get a title shot. On the other hand, it would have been nice if Dana had made Chael earn another title shot. He was clearly beaten with no controversy – that doesn’t scream ‘immediate title rematch’ to me.
Andy could have recovered from his injury and waited for the winner of Vitor/Okami.
Or he could have taken a fight at 205. IMO Chael should have had to prove he has improved his sub defense and beat Maia in a rematch to get another title shot.

He made Silva fight an exciting fight, which he hasn’t done lately, and the rematch will probably do more buys than the first fight, so it’s gonna happen. Its not like Chael deserves it cough LOSER cough but it’s an intriguing fight and it should be a good one. They need to test silva in any way they can, and who knows, Chael may have broken Andy’s spirit more than we know.

I love how emotional people get when it comes to Sonnen just imagine once he beats Silva he’s going to talk even more.
Personally I think it’s great like Sonnen said last time he destroyed the myth, next time he’s going to destroy the man. Silva fans can make all the excuses and justifications that they want but the rematch will play out the same except this time there will be no last minute subs to save the day. Silva WAS injured...Confirmed
Silva had an intercostal muscle strain in the right lower anerior chest (ribs 8-9 and 9-10 were affected). Anybody here ever have a true muscle strain between the ribs? Every breath hurts as does every twisting motion of the torso…i.e. every punch, kick, faint, elbow and breath caused severe pain. Watch the film of the fight. Are you seeing the Anderson Silva of old? He’s running on guts guys. I am no fan of Silva’s past antics but I am an MMA fan and that fighter is a FIGHTER! Sonnen too is a great fighter, but I now want to see him fight after a few months of random drug testing of BOTH blood and urine, because I want to see who he is when he isn’t cheating.
