IM CONFUSED!!!
is it hughes?he said 155 whats going on?
"whats the difference if Bruce Springsteen is his shidoshi?"
he said a guy he was SUPPOSED to fight at 155 couldn't cause of injuy
but Dana NOW offered him a fight he couldn’t resist. He’s 165 now and he now needs to do what he needs to do to be ready….that’s going to be interesting though. I’m scared for BJ. He’s 165, needs at least 3 more pounds but needs to train and get in good physical condition….hmmmm

cheers mate the sound was a bit dodgy andi could only make out bits and pieces thanks buddy

I don't care too much for the hughes fight....
Hughes will have nothing for him. Frankie beat him because he’s awesome at chain wrestling and has developed slick boxing and counterpunching style not because he can hold guys down and donkeykong them. I want to see him fight Fitch. I mean if it’s only for the sake of interest.

id rather see penn-gomi
"whats the difference if Bruce Springsteen is his shidoshi?"
I wonder if Gomi is the hurt fighter at 155

I don't know...haven't heard of any 155ers talking about injuries
the only one definitely hurt and can’t fight right now is Dos Anjos….but it was obvious he wouldn’t be fighting for a while.

Well isn't there a rumor about Guida-Gomi?
And Gomi hasn’t said anything about being injured. I can’t think of a big name LW that BJ would want to fight either at least top 10 ranked.

AS LONG AS BJ STAYS IN HILO...
He won’t progress and will never be the same…. BJ needs to train elsewhere, WITH AN ELITE CAMP. To bad… he’s going to lose to Hughes.
those of you in Rosemead
BJ will also be at the opening of the new UFC gym this weekend
mondaymorningblackbelt.com
mondaymorningblackbelt.com
where the hell is Rosemead?
Is this a common city name that I have just completely missed out on?
Not only does BJ Penn quit on his stool versus guys that are bigger than him...He gets tooled by guys that are SMALLER than him. BJ should just stick to jumping out of pools, not fighting. I shoulda listened to Ulf.
Rosebud?
Anderson Silva is by far the number one P4P king!!! Even when he is losing a fight he still comes back and finishes for the win! GSP dominates the whole fight and still can't finish! LOL
Yea psycho, it is.
It’s also the sled in that Citizen Can movie.
Anderson Silva is by far the number one P4P king!!! Even when he is losing a fight he still comes back and finishes for the win! GSP dominates the whole fight and still can't finish! LOL
just seemed like he shoulda said
if you live near LA…Rosemead was confusing to me, but I may just geographically challenged.

Great fight.
I hope Bj trains hard for this one.

Man I hope bj wins!
I wanted 2 see gomi vs Penn better. Last time cardio kicked bj ass against Hughes he better train his ass off or Hughes will beat him again.

another reason why he is the best
Not only does BJ Penn quit on his stool versus guys that are bigger than him...He gets tooled by guys that are SMALLER than him. BJ should just stick to jumping out of pools, not fighting. I shoulda listened to Ulf.
Do you want retribution? I got Hughes if you are interested in a chance for redemption.

I will take it
But this time, no 3-1. Hughes may come out the favorite in this one. But, I will go even with ya.

i can't watch vid...apparently he said at 155.
I need to see who he is fighting, if it is not Hughes.

Man, I hope that is true
That makes so much more sense to me.

I'd be ok with Gomi...too bad Deuce won't get a shot at redemption.

you wouldn't take that bet?

no chance in hell
I took Griffin over Gomi, and I am still not convinced it was not a “lucky” punch.

imo gomi has a better chance then hughes to beat penn.
deuce you really think hughes will be favored?

lucky punch? from Gomi
COme on Ulf.. it’s not like Damien Maia knocked someone out.
Gomi did what he does. KO’s foolios.
Vitor is coming. Somebody better polish up that MW belt.
Okami = Lindland & Franklin
his performance against florian was more surprising then his performance against griffin.

I don’t like the term “lucky punch” I just don’t think Tyson respected Gomi like he should have.

I only went there for a short time while Mania was banned at my job.
It took a short minute for me to get in it with the “regulars” over there. I hated it and thanked God when I was able to post on Mania again. I had the slowest job in the world and Mania made it go by. Now I moved back to Long Island and can’t find work, so again, Mania helps me get through the day. Maybe I should be out looking more than I’m on here……na.

Gomi did what he did
Tyson came in with a bad game plan and set himself back 3 years in the trying. The punch in question was another looper thrown from the hip trhat Gomi made famous in Pride. No decent striker, in 2010, gets caught that badly. Just my take.
I took BJ in 2006 (?), I will take BJ in 2010 versus Gomi, all day, every day.

i took tyson as well and will be taking guida if it comes to fruition.

I do
based on the fact that Hughes is coming off 3 wins and BJ is coming off 2 losses to a smaller wrestler. Plus Hughes TKOd BJ last time out (rib or no rib) and that will play into it as well. I could see this thing coming out around -150

Do you guys remember the line on this the last time they fought?
And Hughes won.
Matt Hughes -225
BJ Penn +195
Different time for sure, but what has BJ done at 170 to change your mind about him there? Also, him coming off two losses at 155 makes me think Hughes will be favored here. Personally, I think BJ will take it, but that doesn’t change the fact that I believe the lines will be favoring Hughes.

lol, if that will make you feel better
You stumped me by saying that 4 years ago matt hughes, the ww champ at the time, was the favorite over BJ who had just lost to GSP.
There!
"NOBODY wants to fight Fedor." - Wanderlei Silva, former Pride MW Champion and GP winner
jesus that was 4 years ago wasn't it?
Man, I am getting old. Time flies. Point taken. Has there ever been a mania bet about what the odds will be?
Not only does BJ Penn quit on his stool versus guys that are bigger than him...He gets tooled by guys that are SMALLER than him. BJ should just stick to jumping out of pools, not fighting. I shoulda listened to Ulf.
haha no, but i remember being way off on the Brock-Velasquez odds.
I was debating with someone weather they will be closer to -400 or -300 with Brock as the favorite.
And low and behold, -150, which they still are (-160 when I last checked)
I still can’t believe it. I don’t like to tie money up long in advance, but I will be putting a healthy bet on Brock closer to the fight.
I haven’t seen a bet though on what the odds will be yet on mania.
"NOBODY wants to fight Fedor." - Wanderlei Silva, former Pride MW Champion and GP winner
Free I too was surprised and put my last $68 on Brock.
Now I can’t bet any football until that plays out. DAMN!!!!
Anderson Silva is by far the number one P4P king!!! Even when he is losing a fight he still comes back and finishes for the win! GSP dominates the whole fight and still can't finish! LOL
that's exactly the reason why I don't commit until a week to the event
the times I did I ALWAYS missed other great bets I could have taken in the meantime, and those are winners most of the time (murphy’s law)
"NOBODY wants to fight Fedor." - Wanderlei Silva, former Pride MW Champion and GP winner
its a common problem i face all the time. ive got $60 on brock at -155 and i wish i could spare more but nfl is here and i need my money to work for me.
deuce are we sig betting on the favorite or not? Hughes is in the same boat as cro-cop where his last 2 wins have suckered people back in, vegas wont be fooled so easily.

I don't want to say this, but I would take Hughes.
At least if B.J. won I would be happy and if Hughes won I would make some coin. Well, doesn’t matter bc I don’t have money to bet anyway! So sad being so poor! Anyone live on Long Island that has some work for me : – ((

two examples....just for fun.
GSP- at the end of 2010- will have fought twice, fought twice in 09, twice in 08
Hughes- will have fought 3 times in 2010, once in 09, once in 08, twice in 07

yep, 2 times a year is norm on average
"NOBODY wants to fight Fedor." - Wanderlei Silva, former Pride MW Champion and GP winner
I agree with Tyler
I think 3 is norm
I think 2 for a title holder is norm because they have to wait for someone to become #1 contender.
Also if Hughes didn’t get injured so much he would be fighting 2-3 times a year.
Then there are fighters like Kos , Daley and Mr.Wonderful who likes to fight 3-4 times a year no a regular basis.
Even though Kos will only fight twice this year I think he would’ve fought 3 times if it weren’t for TUF

Who is he fighting?
the threads are saying hughes at 170 but he clearly stated its at 155 and someone got hurt so dana called him in. The only high profile fight would be sherk vs dunham at 119.
by ScrapPackBackAgain on Sep 14, 2010 2:22 PM EDT reply actions
He is fighting at 170
In the video he said the 155’er that they were considering got hurt so he will be fighting someone else (Hughes). He is at 165 right now and is still training. I just hope he keeps his cardio in check while putting on weight.
Right on I'm looking forward to this one

Nooo
i like BJ and i dont wanna see him lose 3 in a row. Id put my money on Highes winning that fight
BJ looks unispired... still.
Although BJ seems always seems laid back and chillaxed, i dont feel the enthusiasm still. But thats just my take on it, he could be stoked.
should be a great fight
HUghes is gonna beat the crap out of BJ Again! The only chance BJ has of winning is if he switches to Danago’s gym
I gotta go with BJ on this one. Im not convinced that he’s “lost it.” I think that Frankie has the style that stumps Penn every time. In other words, he GSP’d him. Give BJ someone he can jump and jab around, and he’s a killer. PLUS, the fact that is a 3 rounder…Penn by face slap, destruction, sub, then glove lick.
