im not quezy... so I'll give it a 4.
It’s bad. Time to see a surgeon to help clean it and rebuild it.
It’s not Randleman bad though.

Who's next?
well OD
it is lunch time, I was thinking about eating, and he just pulled a foot and a half piece of himself out of his leg. I say it was a 6. Maybe less, since I was thinking about food when I watched it.

Deuce, that wasn't his own tissue being pulled out
That was a long packing strip of gauze that gets pushed into the wound. It is used to keep the wound open and heal from the inside out. Basically, if they didn’t pack it the wound would start healing right at the surface. Once it closes up, it can leave leave space in the open cavity for all that “evil” to fester and create what is called an abscess. Then the whole process will generally start all over again.
This video isn’t bad. I would say a 3. You want to see nastiness, youtube search for “abscess”. (The animal ones are the worst.)

thanks for the info Mayhem
I know shit about Staph, obviously. But I agree with OD, no effing way I am googling that. I say 6 based on what I have seen on mma forums before. My mother was a nurse and had this farm accident book. I stay away from medical publications when it comes to this shit.

mayhems right on the animal ones
I was gonna say check out the spider bite ones. When they pull the gauze out of those its gross. Some are updated constantly too. Eww. Out of a head and a hand I’ve seen too. I thought it was a tape worm yrs back too. Its less disturbing once you know its gauze. Except trying to imagine what it feels like getting that put in and pulled out.

It's is actually fairly painless
The infected site itself is generally in extreme pain and is lessened by getting all that fluid out. As far as putting it in (or taking it out for that matter), it is just being placed in a vacant space so not much of anything for pain.
Worbs, have you seen the horse one? Ewww. Congrats on the new site. While we differ on many of the fighters we root for, I will try not to let it get too far under my skin (speaking on the topic). I just have to remember that it is a blog more than straight journalism and can’t let the (ahem, overstated)opinions bother me. Instead I will be there to support the efforts of fellow die-hards like you and Kevin. Props.

every time I see these videos or pictures I'm happy I never got it that bad.
When I had staph I caught it early because it was on my face and I was able to treat it toppically. I felt sick, but it never got out of hand like it does with a lot of these fighters.

hey ANS, don’t want to hijack the thread and don’t post often, but i’ve always respected and enjoyed your knowledge and insight into mma. I didn’t see any of your comments on the other link to who should be next for A Silva. Being a fighter yourself, do you feel Sonnen deserves an immediate rematch or should someone else get the next shot? Don’t blame ya if you want to avoid the backlash and want to remain neutral on this one.
Chael Proved Me Wrong
He proved he was an absolute beast. Cracked ribs aside, he talked alot alot alot of shit. I didnt think he had a chance and he went in and did exactly what he said he was going to do. I am not big on immediate re matches though. Its a blessing in disguise that Anderson may be out for a while. I think Chael should fight either Vitor or Palhares if he wins.

with everything going around the internet and what not its not too bad….anywhere from a 4-7 depending on how weak your stomach is

i asked this on my fanshot, but ill ask again
do most people who train in MMA (or wrestling or any discipline for that matter) get this shit regularly?
thinking about joining an mma gym but will seriously consider if I will end up with one of them
My P4P Top 5:
1) GSP 2) Aldo 3) A. Silva 4)Shogun 5) Fedor
You gotta be super fucking clean
You and your training partners should bathe 3 times a day. The mats should be scrubbed routinely.
It's the wrestling that does it...
chances that you’d get it training consistently on a regular basis are pretty good unless the gym you go to is kept very clean.

Staph sucks
I’ve heard of people getting it at regular gyms. The easiest solution is to use clean clothes everytime you go to the gym, don’t be a lazy piece and wear “gym” clothes that you wash once a week; make sure you shower as soon as possible after working out, and clean your mat space/equipment.
just keep clean dude! Simple as that, if someone looks real nasty keep the heck away from them.
I wear a rash guard under my tshirt when training aswell, don’t wear stinky sweaty clothes without washing them LOL

Just Clean Yourself.
But sometimes you cant avoid it. If someone has it and it hasnt shown its evil little self, you can get it and when your training partner realizes it then its too late.

Crap got passed around the whole center. Not sure how I missed it, but they had to close the gym for more than a week. I never went back.

JUDO
I havent heard of someone in Judo getting it, And we have some stinky a$$ gis…
Maybe it has to do with the overall climate too,
I am in canada and mostly judo is a sept to may thing.
Not many times wounds get exposed though …
I don't know...
but I sure wouldn’t let my little kid be anywhere close to me while I was doing anything that had anything to do with staph… maybe its just me. Also…MRSA is waaayyyy more disgusting than that.
