The official weigh-in event for UFC 117: "Silva vs. Sonnen" went down earlier today (Aug. 6) from the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California.
Note to Thiago Alves: Just because you press a red button from Staples doesn't automatically make something "easy." Straight from the files of "Open mouth and insert foot," the Brazilian welterweight went on record this afternoon to call the UFC 117 weight cut "the easiest" of his career.
Then he failed to get below 171.5 pounds.
"Pitbull" was fined 20-percent of his purse (which goes directly to opponent Jon Fitch), and aside from his issues atop the scale, all other fighters booked for tomorrow night's festivities, including main event participants Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen, made weight without incident.

BNF is correct. DirecTV has had every weigh-in recently on their 101 network with the exception of possibly an international card. They’ve been doing it consistently for over a year.

did anyone else notice that when he was on the scale he was trying to hang his right foot off the back of the scale to shave weight? he couldn’t do it as much holding his nuts thats why he didn’t drop anything from his banana hammock.

I personally thought the staredown was going to be a little more intense than that between Silva & Sonnenn

Nobody will care about Sonnen Sunday morning and will just be another highlight real for Silva.

Didnt cycle off at the right time? To me this guy is tough but a joke, how many fights is it now that he has failed to make weight for 2/3?? Didnt have enough time off?? whats up with that? I thought weight cutting was part of the business.

I watched the Sonnen vs Marquart fight again.
I have to say, I forgot just how bad Sonnen made Nate look. Sonnen completely dominated him. Not a big fan of either fighter but I’m not completely counting Sonnen out in this fight. The easy money however, will be on Silva re-arranging Chael’s face via vicious strikes.
