MMA Mania Pound for Pound Tourney - Round 1: Silva vs. Melendez

Keeping this tourney rolling...

This one matchup a day seems to be working out pretty well. This matchup will be the last one until next week. In our last matchup, BJ Penn ran away with a win over Rashad Evans. Despite wolfmans incessant trolling, he was unable to get enough people to go along with his misplaced love for Suga Rashad. That being said, its time for the next matchup, featuring one of only two fighters in the tournament not employed by Zuffa. This matchup features the 3-seed, UFC Middleweight champ (hopefully not for long) Anderson Silva, against the 14-seed, Strikeforce Lightweight champ Gilbert Melendez. I'd like not to post my opinion on this fight, especially since I clearly have no willpower and did so on the last matchup, but I would suggest that those of you who are strictly UFC watchers when it comes to MMA should look at some tape on Melendez, because I feel like this difference in the voting results might be a little bit more expansive than they should be. That being said, BOTH fighters are very talented and despite the seeding this should be a great matchup. But who would win? You decide...
