When I saw bj go right after edgar at the start of the 1st rd at ufc 118's main event I said to myself OH ya edgar is in trouble then 10 sec later edgar put the aggressive penn on his ass emphatically.  By the end of the 1st round I could tell penn's spirit was broken.  Penn did try to take the fight to edgar right at the start like he said but he soon realized it wasnt ganna be his night.

The reason penn was such a fan favorite was because he was exciting to watch he could beat his opponent anywhere and he was a finisher as soon as he tasted blood he went in for the kill, then he would lick the blood of his opponent off of his gloves he was just refreshing to watch.  But I think its safe to say pens era is coming to an end. 

Edgar couldnt be more boring to watch in my opinion same with maynard hes even less entertaining.  It is time for an exciting lightwieght warrior who is still in his prime and who can bring fans to thier feet with ease to riegn again.

The light wieght division needs a champion like gomi to rule.  A fighter with personalllity who can finish his oppnent at any time and then jump to the top of the cage as the fans roar.

Theres no doubt in my mind Joe silva is ganna match gomi and penn again and just like in highlander when the guy kills his opponent gomi will put penn into retirement and take all of his power.  This will earn gomi the next shot at the title against either edgar or maynard and Hopefully gomi can save us from all the boring decisions that maynard and edgar will participate in.
