Joe Lauzon missed almost a year after a knee injury. When he finally returned to action, at UFC 108 in January he looked tentative and lacked the explosiveness that had come to characterize his career. No more. Lauzon ran through fellow The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 5 contestant Gabe Ruediger like a freight train.
He slammed his cake eating opponent, and basically had his way with him before mercifully finishing the fight with an armbar two minutes in. Lauzon didn't just take home a win. He took home a cool $60,000 for submission of the night too. Maybe it was calibre of competition, but Lauzon looked like he had switched bodies with fellow Bostonian Kenny Florian. Is Lauzon back? Is he the real deal? Or is Gabe Ruediger just that awful?

I’m a big fan of Lauzon I think he would’ve beat stout if he didn’t gas. He probably gassed because of his long lay-off like scott said

He even did good against Florian until he got a little overzealous and gave up the take down.I hope the win over Gay Ruediger gives him some confidence to start performing up to his potential.

I’m a J-Lau fan, but in this case he was simply fighting an incompetent opponent. Why in the hell is Reudiger still in the UFC?

too bad his corner didnt have a cake standing by to give gabe after the fight..
when you pull such a douche move like that in the weigh in you better win the fight…cause if you lose in such an embarrassing manner it makes the asswhooping look 10 times worse….

well the ufc basically fed gabe to lauzon to get him back in the zone
I dont think he would abuse etim the same way as he did with gabe (yeah im a little bit of a etim fan) but that would have been a more difficult fight for lauzon.
But still i enjoyed seeing lauzon boosting his confidence by destroying gabe

Lauzon belongs in the UFC, Ruediger doesn't!
Not to take away the whipping Joe handed out but Gabe isn’t the type of fighter that belongs in the UFC. Maybe a Strikeforce Challenger card or something. Lauzon looked great and its not easy making it look that easy to anyone so much respect to Joe.
