UFC Quick Quote: Gray Maynard is ready to take the title from Frankie Edgar
"You can’t let (the crowd) affect you. I’ve got bills. I’ve got all that stuff... All the odds were stacked against me. All the odds. That’s a blue-collar win for me, and I’m blue-collar..."I’ve beaten all the top guys. I’m ready"
The hometown Boston Globe caught up with "The Bully" Gray Maynard after his unanimous decision win over Boston bred Kenny Florian at UFC 118. Dana White reconfirmed that Maynard will get the next title shot at Frankie Edgar's lightweight belt and Maynard believes he's up to the challenge. Can Maynard beat Edgar for a second time (the two clashed previously at UFC Fight Night 13 in 2008)? And are fans sharpening their knives, ready to slice Maynard and his cautious approach to pieces in the comments?

this will be the lowest drawing ppv title fight in ufc history...maynard headlining a major ppv...jesus
the undercard is gonna have to sell this card….it better be stacked as FUCK….this is like a spike fight night main event…even with a belt on the line..
the brockness monster grinds up teenagers and puts them in his protein shakes..and uses razor blades to chop toddlers up into lines to snort like meth...the reason no one can find bigfoot is because the brockness monster found him years ago and now has him in numerous ziplock bags in the back of his freezer...
exactly! can they get it on the nye card if sonnen fights silva as a co-main?
"whats the difference if Bruce Springsteen is his shidoshi?"

have it on free tv then.
who cares if it sells. Gray Maynard is most likely going to win.
your mother !
what is scarier is that whos going to beat him? If he is a dominating champion then the antique road show will have no troulbe counter programing the ufc

That fight was brutal!
Kenny needs to pull his head out of his ass. Big game plan just like the BJ fight? Do nothing and hope to win. Gray lets him up with 18 seconds left and he doesnt even throw one punch or kick. I have like Kenny since he was on TUF but am really starting to dislike him.
Maynard will beat Edgar again and then retain the belt for along time. As boring as he is no one can match his wrestling ability and or strenght, he doesnt get hit and if he starts to feel pressure standing he just takes you down and no one can stop it. Maynard should be the favorite going in and will win with ease.
Frankie, thank you for shutting BJ’s dumbass up AGAIN!!!!!! That was awesome!!!!!
lol

Been Calling This One
I’ve been saying for about 1 1/2 years that Gray would make his way to champion in about 2 years and I know his fight with Frankie will be a leg hump, but he will win and be champ. I originally said it because I always thought that BJ can be beaten by any truly dominate wrestler and Gray would do it. Guess Frank just did it 1st, but Gray can hold Frank down again for 5 rounds this time and take the belt.
Nothing Ever Changes When Nothing Ever Changes
Gray "and pray" Maynard is the most boring fighter in the UFC
he is Fitch, except Fitch is a cool dude outside the Octagon. Maynard has the personality of a rock.
Yushin has evolved alot..
His striking is much better than it was and he doesnt just try to dry hump guys to a win..
I wouldnt call yushin boring, at least not on the same level as fitch or maynard.

Ugh
This is why wanted BJ to win, he wouldn’t allow Gray to take the belt, but Edgar will, and then Maynard will be the 155 champ ;(
Jon Jones LHW Champion 2011
I can't stand watching Maynard
Absolutely, Maynard’s fights are boring and predictable, I hope he never gets the belt.
You have to respect Edgar’s never die attitude. He looks as fresh at the end of the fight as he does at the start. I think he will solve the Maynard wrestling challenge.
Disagree...
Guys like Maynard that have one dominant skill-set interest me. Everyone in the building (including his opponent) know EXACTLY what he’s going to do and you still can’t stop him. It doesn’t make for Griffin-Bonnar type fights, but you can’t help but respect that level of dominance. Watching guys try to scheme around it makes the fights entertaining for me.
i dont understand the hate at all. Maynard completely dominated kenny florian for 3 rounds. if thats not impressive i dont know what is. i see alot of similarities in Maynard and frankie edgar too. They both are in and out and stick and move real quick, and both have sold wrestling. Should be an interesting fight
I wouldnt say he completely dominated him
He just layed on him and grinded a decision for a good part of that fight. Not much GnP at all.
I think Edgar takes the rematch. Frankie looks better and better every time he fights. Maynard looks……exacly the same
Confucius says:
"Baseball is wrong; man with four balls cannot walk."
Huge Maynard fan
it`s simple to set up a strategy for him….so why cant anybody beat him. He`s better at what he does than what his opponet does. he wins fights…thats what he`s supposed to do. Forrest fights exciting but when he loses “all he sucks, overrated, etc”… fans are funny like that. But fucke`m if you always win.
PROPS to Maynard
I dont think the arguement is wether he is a winner or not, it that his boring to watch, and he is. He also has a tramp stamp

i wonder how they hype this guy up
The promo team of the ufc has a lot of work to do selling a ppv headlined by someone who has the personality of a shrimp ( gray) and someone who is way to humble and give cliche answers (edgar).
My Top MMA Talents
1. Jon ''Bones'' Jones
2. Anthony ''Showtime'' Pettis
3. Phil ''Mr. Wonderful'' Davis

Did anyone else think Edgar should have got the decision in their first fight
The night of the fight before they read it off I knew that Gray would be getting the decision. But when I re-watched it, Edgar had no damage done to him on the ground that I recall and while it was on its feet was one-sided for Frankie.
Basically, for that reason, I have hope that Frankie takes care of business when they fight the second time. I also enjoyed the the post-fight presser Nate Diaz, when asked what’s next for him, he said maybe he’d drop back down to 155 and beat up on Gray again. I was waitiing for something to erupt behind the podium.
