Latest UFC 118 odds and betting lines for 'Edgar vs Penn 2' on Aug. 28

Ufc118_550x237_medium

The clock is ticking ... literally.

We're just a few days away from the upcoming UFC 118: "Edgar vs. Penn 2" pay-per-view (PPV) event, which will take place from the TD Garden in Boston, Mass., on Saturday, Aug. 28.

And the closer we get to showtime, is less time that you have to place your bets.

This weekend's action is, of course, headlined by UFC Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar, taking on number one contender -- and perhaps the most dominant 155-pound fighter in the world -- BJ Penn.

Edgar had "The Answer" for the "Prodigy" in their first go-around earlier this year, sticking and moving en route to a unanimous decision win in Abu Dhabi. Despite their history, Penn currently sits as a solid favorite (-450) as the challenger, making the champion a decent underdog bet (+250).

It might not surprise you who the underdog is in the "UFC vs. Boxing" co main event between Randy Couture and James Toney; however, the massive spread will more than likely make you do a double take. We're talking Matt Serra UFC 69-type odds, folks.

No joke... unlike, perhaps, the sideshow pairing.

Here are the latest UFC 118 odds (- = favorite; + = underdog):

BJ Penn -350 BET NOW
Frank Edgar +250 BET NOW

Remember that MMAmania.com will provide LIVE blow-by-blow, round-by-round coverage of UFC 118 beginning with the PPV telecast at 10 p.m. ET on Saturday, Aug. 28. In addition, we will deliver up-to-the-minute quick results of all the under card action much earlier on fight night.

Question about rankings

Do you guys automatically rank the champ as #1? Sherdog and most other listings has Frankie as the #1 lightweight because he beat BJ and is the champ, but how can they rank him #1 if BJ is clearly still the favourite? I guess rankings dont necessarily equate to jack shit.

Had same argument a couple days ago with someone… It is strange BJ is such a large favorite..But for those who say he wont bring anything different dont know what they are talking about..BJ is known for having off nights… No excuses, that is just what he does.. Sometimes he is on point and sometimes he is just off… If he brings his A game Edgar is in trouble…

Gotta love those odds

on Edgar and Toney. Edgar already beat Penn once and I’m not sure what BJ will bring to the table that he didn’t have in the last fight. Sure he didn’t look as good as he could, but that tends to happen when you are well matched up with another great fighter. And I think Randy takes this because no way will he stand with James. But James Toney is no joke guys if he lands a punch on Randy it is lights out. Pardon the punn.

Do not. I repeat, do not, go to mma-core.com. I made the mistake of watching a couple UFC 108 bouts on there and I am still trying to get all the viruses of my computer. Ridiculous! You've been warned.

BJ won the first fight

He was just robbed, but because Edgar beat peoples ‘expectations’ of him he seemed like he was doing better than he was.

I still think +250 makes it a good bet; I’d think +200 is a line more in tune with reality.

I agree with Toney, for those types of odds a small bet on James seems prudent

BJ lost the first fight

because he didn’t look like he gave a rat’s ass. He looked like he was just putting in an obligatory appearance on the way home to his PlayStation. Frankie came to fight and B.J. was lazy and apathetic. I think the judges were basically punishing him for taking them for granted and for assuming they would give him the W when he was putting in zero effort.

that zero effort won't happen again. i think penn actually likes rewinning the belt.

that is what motivates him.

I love when people say stuff like..he won and thats all that matters… Whenever the judges are involved winning is not all that matters..or at least shouldn’t be anyway.. I am not saying BJ won or lost that fight but when you have 3 morons judging the fight anything can happen..

beating expectations

doesnt mean beaing your opponent.

No one thought Edgar would see the second round, so when he lasted til the 5th and made it competitive, people were shocked.

But the fact is most people (experts) scored it for Penn.

The reality is the decision went to Edgar, but you can see how many people think that’s deserved by the heavily Penn favoured betting line.

wasnt penn a -450 in their first fight?...man they're giving edgar NO prayer whatsoever..i mean i can understand if it was like -250 but -450 that is retarded

the brockness monster grinds up teenagers and puts them in his protein shakes..and uses razor blades to chop toddlers up into lines to snort like meth...the reason no one can find bigfoot is because the brockness monster found him years ago and now has him in numerous ziplock bags in the back of his freezer...

BJ was way higher in the first fight.

I got Edgar at +575, and I think at that point Penn was roughly +850.

Davis is the only fight I have money on.

The odds aren’t worth the risk for BJ-Edgar or Randy-Toney in my opinion. But I see Davis outclassing Nate on the feet and winning a UD.

i agree that Davis is a solid bet considering his resume compared to Nate. I doubt Davis will get caught in going to the ground with Nate, and his standup is WAY more versatile than Nate’s. this is the only good play for the money on the card as the lines stand.

I mean…gray Maynard gave Diaz trouble standing up.

Seriously. Wrap your brain around that. Gray Maynard.
