"Strikeforce: Houston" Post-Event Thoughts

**********SPOILERS**********

Lashley’s been exposed.  He has no cardio, and no skills aside from a double-leg takedown.  He will lose whenever he faces competition above the level of Wes-fucking-Sims.  I’m glad he got destroyed tonight by a guy with the meanest mutton chops in Strikeforce.  Much props to Chad Griggs though, he stepped up to the plate, kept composed when Lashley had him on his back, and waited for his opportunity to explode.  When he did, it was all over for Bobby.  Where Chad Griggs can go in this division, who knows, but one thing I think we all know is that he’ll be back in Strikeforce, anyone see a Brett Rogers fight on the horizon?

Like I suspected, Gurgel – the silly dummy that he is, decided to stand and bang with a professional boxer.  What did it get him?  Beat. The. Fuck. Up.  Noons destroyed him, plain and simple.  I think the fight should have been stopped after the first round, Gurgel was done for and took some serious punishment in the 19 seconds of the second round, punishment that he didn’t need to take.  That ref, whomever it was, fucking sucked. Great win for KJ, questionable illegal knee at the end, who knows what will happen with that. Probably nothing.  KJ vs. Gilbert Melendez or KJ vs. Nick Diaz II would both work for me.  I think we’ll see one of those next.

Kennedy and Souza went the distance.  It was a close, back and forth fight.  In the end, “Jacare” won the unanimous decision and is now the Strikeforce middleweight champion.  I thought it was the right call, I had Souza winning the fight. Rematch could be seen soon.  Strikeforce’s production is pissing me off, commentating sucks shit tonight.  Yeah Mauro I’m looking at you!

“Feijao” and Mo spent the first two rounds of their fight going back and forth.  I had “Feijao” winning the first, with Mo dominating the second.  In-between rounds, “Feijao” must have decided that the fight was going to end in the third, and came out in a Blitzkrieg and pretty much murdered “King Mo” with some knees and elbows to the side of the dome.  Mo’s a pretty tough bastard though, he held on and forced Big John to step instead of going limp and out like many others would have.   It was an awesome ending to a very even-matched fight, and a great win for Cavalcante, who will no doubt cruise into the 205lb rankings.  The Strikeforce light-heavyweight division is full of surprises.

Overall, great night of fights.  Mauro, Shamrock, and Gus Johnson need to get their shit straightened out, they were way off tonight.  I want more Miletich.
