Programming reminder: 'Countdown to UFC 117' debuts tonight (Aug. 2) on Spike TV

It's already time to switch gears.
"Countdown" to UFC 117: "Silva vs. Sonnen" will debut tonight (Monday, Aug. 2) at 11 p.m. ET on Spike TV to promote the upcoming pay-per-view (PPV) event scheduled for the Oracle Arena in Oakland, Calif., on Saturday, Aug. 7.
The network special will provide a glimpse into the preparation and training camps of the fighters set to headline the show, featuring current UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva and division number one contender Chael Sonnen.
Replays of "Countdown to UFC 117" will air at the following times:
- Tuesday, Aug. 3 at 1 a.m. ET (Monday night into Tuesday morning on MTV tr3s)
- Wednesday, Aug. 4 at 8 p.m. ET (Spike TV)
- Thursday, Aug. 5 at Midnight ET (Versus)

people are wanting to hear. It’s been getting old plus he talks out of his ass saying false crap and the guy isn’t that impressive but talks like he’s the next big thing.
Anderson Silva haters will be back on his nuts after he gets another amazing KO just like when he embarrassed Forrest like nobody else could. GSP can't even finish people in his own weight division. The only time Andy goes the distance is against a so, so fighter who he either isn't motivated to fight or just toys with them. Get a top fighter in there and watch him get destroyed within 2 rounds. He's bored at MW, get him to LHW so he can take that belt too and let's watch GSP be brave enough to take a fight at MW.
Lesnar isn't the most skilled fighter but until somebody beats him he is the #1 HW in the world. It's obviously not Fedor and sure as hell isn't Werdum!
I am sure there will be at least 1 or 2 gems left for this puppy

true enough. We may end up looking back on this going, why did we think Sonnen had a chance? But, then again, Watching Munoz get stuffed time and again last night really speaks to Sonnen’s abilities. And Munoz trains with Andy. But you are right, the pre-fight hype has us talking at least.

And oswald I’ve long grown weary of Sonnen’s talk, I hope that this Countdown isn’t just going to show clips of him talking rubbish because I’m sick of listening to his whiny voice bitch about everyone and everything. He’s talked so much that I just don’t care anymore and now I just want to see the fight.

I still dont understand
why T.Silvas fight was gonna be on the undercard. The guy was just a win or two away from a title shot before shad. And hes exciting as hell.
And this is probably the only countdown show Ill skip. Mostly because Silva wont be saying much of anything and Sonnen will be talking more than enough to make up for it. And lets be honest….Sonnens voice is like nails on a chalkboard.

Thats true.
Cant argue with the more exposure part. Bjut I mean the guy was a headliner in his last fight. And hes still a top contender. Just seems a bit shitty to me. But oh well…..And honestly. Im more excited about the nelson / dos santos fight than the main card.

Enough Talkin'
I’m tired of Sonnen and all the talk. I mean really, who has he really beat? It’s not gonna matter. If you think about it, I bet Dana made a promise to Sonnen to some how get Silva to fight to his potential, which Silva hasn’t done in about 4-5 fights. Think about it, Dana gives Sonnen an extra $50k to ensure Silva fights like he did against Hendo, Franklin, etc. Otherwise, if he has a bad showing, it hurts the UFC since one of the best fighers they have, and one of the best fighters in MMA keeps fighting in a way that everyone hates. They needed someone to promote the day lights out of the next Silva fight, and I’ll give it to Sonnen, he has done that. But that is about all that he will have done after the fight in my humble opinion.
I think Silva is amazing, and at the same level with his skills as MJ and Tiger. This head movement, foot work, use of angles and accuracy is off the chart. He has a great takedown defense, and is solid on the ground (choked out Hendo).
Now hopefully he will be worth watching this weekend and in the future. If not, then Sonnen didn’t talk enough trash to piss off Silva to make him actually fight!
Now everyone just shut up and fight for God’s sake…please, we all want to see it! No excuses, just leave it all in the octagon!

Sonnen will shock the world next Saturday night. Silva will get ko’d in round 2 after dancing around like a gypsy fairy.
It was
a joke. Used to like Silva, but can’t stand him anymore after seeing the way he’s been acting in his fights. I’d love for him to get ko’d, but know it won’t happen anytime soon.
