UFC 122: Amir Sadollah vs Peter Sobotta in the works for Nov. 13

Sadollah-sobotta_medium

Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 7 winner Amir Sadollah will return to the Spike TV airwaves when he travels abroad to face Peter Sobotta at UFC 122 on Nov. 13 from the Konig Pilsener Arena in Oberhausen, Germany, according to GroundandPound.de.

Sadollah (3-2) saw his two-fight winning streak come to an end at UFC 114: "Rampage vs. Evans" back in May courtesy of a lopsided beatdown at the hands of Dong Hyun "Stun Gun" Kim.

Prior to the loss, the part-time TV personality took convincing decision wins over mixed martial arts veterans Brad Blackburn (UFC Fight Night 20) and Phil Baroni (UFC 106).

A win over Sobotta in front of the German's hometown crowd could get Sadollah right back into the welterweight mix.

Star-divide

Sobotta (8-3) is making his third -- and perhaps final -- appearance under the Zuffa banner. Despite a promising career on Germany's regional circuit, the Balingen native has yet to find a win in two appearances inside the Octagon.

After dropping a unanimous decision to Paul Taylor at UFC 99: "The Comeback" in June 2009, Sobotta was outworked by James Wilks at UFC 115: "Liddell vs. Franklin" earlier this year in Vancouver.

UFC 122 is expected to feature a bevy of German born fighters though no official match-ups have been announced at this time. Stay tuned to MMAmania.com for more information on this still developing fight card.

I don’t think AMir will ever be a top star. He has gatekeeper written all over his future.

Shogun will have the longest championship reign in the UFC

haha I was gonna ask what that means as well, but then went to urban dictionary:

1. pants

rubbish, no good, bag of shite

you are pants

Anyways, now on the topic. I think Amir has this easily and Sobotta is cut and goes back to minor leagues. Sobottas teammate, “Panzer”, will take his place as the German export in the UFC.

Amir has some pretty decent stand up

His short range striking against Baroni and Blackburn was effective through the whole fight. What he lacks in power he makes up for in versatility and volume. I like Amir and hope he keeps evolving.

I should never have doubted the wisdom of David W-S or the talent of Junior Dos Santos…and screw Dana White

Sobotta by Sadollah pullout due to injury

Well, except from his period of injuries after the TUF, he's not been known for pulling out of fights...

I think that Amir is a great fighter considering his experience-level. He’s only had five professional fights and his last fight he lost because of nonexisting wrestlingskills. So he definitily needs to improve that. But I don’t see why he wouldn’t evolve… He’s come far in a short period of time and he’s stand up looks really crisp. A little more power and he would be a really dangerous striker.
