Around SBN: Dana White Announces Koscheck vs. Hendricks for UFC on FOX

Randy Couture, Dan Henderson and Bruce Buffer on NBC's 'Poker After Dark'

Poker-after-dark_medium

But which of these UFC vets will survive during this week's late night tournament on NBC?

From "Poker After Dark:"

High stakes poker is all about intimidation. Pros get rich by knowing how to stare down the competition. But take them away from the table and the average shark is about as scary as a guppy. Players who enter the exclusive poker room might worry about going broke, but not getting something broken. This week that could change. For more than a decade, Randy Couture and Dan Henderson have made their living by hurting people. And with multiple mixed martial arts championships to their names, they’re obviously good at it. Bruce Buffer is the voice of MMA and an imposing figure himself. He would fare much better in the octagon than any of this week’s pros - Howard Lederer, Erick Lindgren and Patrik Antonius. But the felt is the pros home turf and their experience is definitely an advantage. But they should remember that a day in the office for the MMA guys means getting punched and kicked within an inch of their lives. So throwing chips at them could just make them angry.

"Buff" may be the most accomplished player of the trio, but can he outlast the pros?  Will Hendo or the "Natural" go all in -- or all out? Find out this week on NBC.

dude was up 11,000,000 chips about two weeks ago.

in a cash game or a tournament?

If it is a tournament, that doesn’t mean anything unless we also know how many others were playing, how many checks he started with, where he finished, and what the prize pool was. Whew, that was a mouthful. I highly doubt Bruce Buffer had 11 mil in checks in a cash game. You don’t even hear about Ivey playing with that kind of coin.

Chips, not checks.

I heard one story

where all the pros pooled their money to play some super rich dude. This was the biggest game of record and I think the pros ended up taking the guy for like 15 mil or something. The pro’s selected Ivey to represent them

"We fight, get beat, rise, and fight again."

Yes, this is true… Harman,Brunson,Ivey,Forrest and a few others played Andy Beal …Jamie Gold did win 12million for the biggest WSOP main event in history.. For someone to say..he is good he had 11million chips a couple weeks ago is really really dumb and that person obv knows nothing about poker…

by bobncc98 on Aug 17, 2010 11:17 AM EDT up reply actions

I know the main event gets huge

but I think that story about Ivey is the biggest cash game win on record. I haven’t heard of anyone walking away with something bigger.

What they won from Andy Beal was the biggest cash game ever.. They were playing 100,000-200,000 fixed limit holdem…Average pot size was close to 1.5 million…During this cash game Ivey had the most succesful session..He won 15 million…So you are correct..

You're implying he's a "great" poker player because at one point he had 11,000,000 in chips????

That means nothing there could have been 10 trillion chips on the table. It’s all about cold hard CASH!!!

by attakdog on Aug 17, 2010 11:52 AM EDT up reply actions

Duh,really jay????

I was exagerating slightly. The point is 11,000,0000 in chips sounds all fancy and amazing but he won like $20,000 which doesn’t sound quite as impressive.

I said he had 11 mil chips. that’s all. And he won 200k, not 20k. And I"m saying he’s a great poker player because as jay said, he plays A LOT and is constantly either winning or coming in close. dude, i’m not a poker player, but you don’t have to be a douche about shit.

"Bruce is a hell of a player man… dude was up 11,000,000 chips about two weeks ago".

If that isn’t implying that the guy is an amazing player because he had a large number of chips then I dont know what is!

The point I’m trying to make is: The number of chips someone may or may not have had is irrelevant – It is all about who’s there at the end and who wins the most cold hard cash!

Nowhere have i called you an "idiot" either, that’s you "putting words in my mouth".
