Randy Couture, Dan Henderson and Bruce Buffer on NBC's 'Poker After Dark'
But which of these UFC vets will survive during this week's late night tournament on NBC?
From "Poker After Dark:"
High stakes poker is all about intimidation. Pros get rich by knowing how to stare down the competition. But take them away from the table and the average shark is about as scary as a guppy. Players who enter the exclusive poker room might worry about going broke, but not getting something broken. This week that could change. For more than a decade, Randy Couture and Dan Henderson have made their living by hurting people. And with multiple mixed martial arts championships to their names, they’re obviously good at it. Bruce Buffer is the voice of MMA and an imposing figure himself. He would fare much better in the octagon than any of this week’s pros - Howard Lederer, Erick Lindgren and Patrik Antonius. But the felt is the pros home turf and their experience is definitely an advantage. But they should remember that a day in the office for the MMA guys means getting punched and kicked within an inch of their lives. So throwing chips at them could just make them angry.
"Buff" may be the most accomplished player of the trio, but can he outlast the pros? Will Hendo or the "Natural" go all in -- or all out? Find out this week on NBC.

Bruce is a hell of a player man...
dude was up 11,000,000 chips about two weeks ago.
To me in this sport, it’s fighting, it’s mixed martial arts, and I feel there’s too many athletes and not enough fighters…I think these people going in taking these sports enhancement drugs, they’re not real fighters, they’re athletes. I’m a fighter. I’m a real fighter. That’s all I did my whole life. - BJ Penn
poker chips
He had $11,000,000 in poker chips

11 million dollars in chips?????? Were they Mickey Mouse ones?
What was the buy in for that tournament?
How much did he end up winning?
i think it was for the
world series of poker and he placed 478th out of 7,319 players and won $27,519
never have any regrets, because at the time, thats all you wanted to do

in a cash game or a tournament?
If it is a tournament, that doesn’t mean anything unless we also know how many others were playing, how many checks he started with, where he finished, and what the prize pool was. Whew, that was a mouthful. I highly doubt Bruce Buffer had 11 mil in checks in a cash game. You don’t even hear about Ivey playing with that kind of coin.
"We fight, get beat, rise, and fight again."
Chips, not checks.
11 million in chips might not mean shit if there is 100 million in chips in play.
The next Heavyweight Champion of the UFC(therefore the world), Junior Dos Santos.
you can refer to them as both
I just prefer checks. Sounds classy.
"We fight, get beat, rise, and fight again."
I heard one story
where all the pros pooled their money to play some super rich dude. This was the biggest game of record and I think the pros ended up taking the guy for like 15 mil or something. The pro’s selected Ivey to represent them
"We fight, get beat, rise, and fight again."
Yes, this is true… Harman,Brunson,Ivey,Forrest and a few others played Andy Beal …Jamie Gold did win 12million for the biggest WSOP main event in history.. For someone to say..he is good he had 11million chips a couple weeks ago is really really dumb and that person obv knows nothing about poker…
I know the main event gets huge
but I think that story about Ivey is the biggest cash game win on record. I haven’t heard of anyone walking away with something bigger.
"We fight, get beat, rise, and fight again."
What they won from Andy Beal was the biggest cash game ever.. They were playing 100,000-200,000 fixed limit holdem…Average pot size was close to 1.5 million…During this cash game Ivey had the most succesful session..He won 15 million…So you are correct..
you should watch them play online sometime..Now that is insane.. Each pot is 300k-400k like its nothing..
Stopped playing online
when the banking laws changed a few years back. I just play house games and occasional casino tournaments. But, mainly blackjack these days. Where do you play?
"We fight, get beat, rise, and fight again."
Couture is such an attention freak
He has to be everywhere, he has to have girlfriends thats younger than his children, he has to wear clothes that 20 year olds use, he has to get new tattoos.
Get a grip man and deal with your crisis.

Hendo better watch all his chips.....
Couture might just reach over and grab a few when he’s not looking like he did in their old team you know. And then move to a new state and start a new gym when he gets caught.

old story of how the paycheck came to create Xtreme fashion.
$$$ disagreements with Dan/Linlo and friendship kinda broke down coz they didn’t like that he convinced hendo to stay with his wife while he went off with broads in vegas. Hendo likes dip his pen in many inks too u know. Anyways He ended moving there. Hard to know what’s true but it makes sense for most part.

just being a hater as usual I see...
Who gives a fuck how he dresses or what women he wants to date. Like he’s the first rich older guy to go after young attractive women… yea thats new..
I’d hate to see you when your 46 and in your “crisis”, sounds like it’s gonna be pretty pathetic.

That is just a silly response Lester. You are the one trying to impersonate a bleach haired, bloated gay man.

You don't offend me Lester
Your line of thinking is actually rather funny to me.

I'm talking about the tweet that he sent with a pic of him up by that much
in a tournament that he was playing in. He had been playing for about 3 days. He enters tournaments all the time.

The tournament that he was talking about that time started off with like
300 people or something like that and he was in the final where there only 5 people left

thats cool
you just worded it wrongly above. Sounded like a poker newb, which is fine, but you had to be called out.

fuck you bob...read this shit dumbass.

I never said it was real fucking money
if you notice, the very first thing I said was 11,000,000 in chips. You fucking poker savants turned into something else. My point was he was a great poker player.

Just looked up the rest of this link of Tweets
the prize money for WINNING the tourney was $200k.
3 days later he entered one where the winner got a “guaranteed” Mil.

Bruce is good at poker.
The next Heavyweight Champion of the UFC(therefore the world), Junior Dos Santos.
Just because he entered the tournament doesn't mean he's a brilliant player.
he might have got a wildcard just coz he’s a celebrity.
You're implying he's a "great" poker player because at one point he had 11,000,000 in chips????
That means nothing there could have been 10 trillion chips on the table. It’s all about cold hard CASH!!!
He was down to the final 5. He was chip leader. There couldn't have possibly been 10 trillion in chips.
The next Heavyweight Champion of the UFC(therefore the world), Junior Dos Santos.
Duh,really jay????
I was exagerating slightly. The point is 11,000,0000 in chips sounds all fancy and amazing but he won like $20,000 which doesn’t sound quite as impressive.
again, you decided to jump to conclusions
I typed in exactly what he said and you decided that I’m an idiot because I implied he had 11 mil dollars. I didn’t imply shit, you took it upon yourself to put words in my mouth. I said he had 11 mil chips. that’s all. And he won 200k, not 20k. And I"m saying he’s a great poker player because as jay said, he plays A LOT and is constantly either winning or coming in close. dude, i’m not a poker player, but you don’t have to be a douche about shit.

OMG you are classic! Re-read your own posts You started off with this gem:
"Bruce is a hell of a player man… dude was up 11,000,000 chips about two weeks ago".
If that isn’t implying that the guy is an amazing player because he had a large number of chips then I dont know what is!
The point I’m trying to make is: The number of chips someone may or may not have had is irrelevant – It is all about who’s there at the end and who wins the most cold hard cash!
Nowhere have i called you an "idiot" either, that’s you "putting words in my mouth".

btw
I am sure the poker pros are SOOOOO intimidated by these three. I mean, would Couture be intimidated to stop into the Octagon against Phil Laak or Annie Duke? Don’t be absurd.
huh
No these pros are not intimidated by playing poker with randy couture.
