That’s what I heard anyway about the slip, although there was the rumour that Tito got ko’d! I find that hard to believe tho as he does have a good chin in the sense he hasn’t been unconscious…all be it he doesn’t like gettin punched;)

Thats not true..
You seem to think that a solid chin means you can take a ko punch and be fine, thats not what it is. Any punch from any fighter hurts and can knock you out so being able to take punches often and hard means you have a chin. No one can just take hits from guys like Dos santos, liddell and guys like that and be fine because their chin, and to think diego does’nt hit hard is plan ignorant. A good chin is never an answer to punches, just extra defense..

I gotta agree with guyverbob. Because now you’re implying that it’s impossible that Hendo can get KO’d. He’s not inhuman. Anyone can get knocked out.
The difference seems to lie in what people classify as having a good chin. Velasquez, for example, is known for having a good chin, but some people say, like when he buckled from Kongo’s shots, that it was good “recovery” rather than a good chin in that incident. I tend not to agree and put this “recovery” under the same umbrella as having a good chin.
But then there are guys like Dos Santos who walks through punches and doesn’t buckle at all. So maybe that just puts his chin on another level. But even if recovery is slightly different, it is still within the same sphere as having a good chin. They both work with each other and are usually incorporated within the same “chin” attribute.

Oh, but to be clear, I think Tito is telling the truth. He does have a great chin, he’s proved it, and even though anyone can get knocked out, it doesn’t seem likely in this case.
Upon seeing the better man fall down, a champion in this case, people will cry KO and do what they can to embellish the details. And most of the accounts seem to be from people who aren’t overly fond of Tito.

This is an excerpt from an interview with Pat Miletich. He was asked about the infamous street fight between Ortiz and Lee Murray, this is what he had to say about it.
I’ve seen this topic brought up before, and this will shed some light on actually what happened.
Question: MMA legend has it that Tito Ortiz and Lee Murray got into a fight outside of a nightclub follwing UFC 38 in London in 2002. According to rumors, you and Matt Hughes had to break up the fight. Is that story true, and if so, who came out the winner?
Miletich: Lee Murray knocked him out. Tito came after Lee. It was something that should’ve never happened; it was a scuffle outside of a nightclub. A friend of Tito’s jumped on my back goofing around— who is actually a real nice guy, we get along. And he was just goofing around, jumped on my back and acted like he was choking me from behind and one of my fighters, Tony Fryklund, thought that he was actually attacking me and put him in a choke from behind and ripped him off my back. Well, I turned around and saw who it was, I told my fighter, “No, let him go” and right when my fighter let him go, he (Ortiz’s friend) turned around and asked my fighter “What the hell are you doing?” And then one of the guys from London, who is a friend of Lee Murray’s, thought that the guy was actually causing problems and punched him and knocked him out. Then a big brawl started out of it; it was complete confusion. When the brawl started Tito took off his jacket and went after Lee, which, you know, he was just trying to defend his friend, and threw a punch at Lee and missed and then Lee hit him with a combo and knocked him out. He kicked him a couple of times, and I pushed Lee away from him to stop the fight and Tony Frykland helped Tito up to his feet

On sherdog they have the record as being he lost by KO, but I would say it was a tko. That was the one where he was standing there covering and chuck was just throwing a million punches. In that fight I thought it was clear tito was just scared and wanted nothing to do with the fight, but I don’t think he ever got knocked out cold.

He could have been the first British MMA star if he had continued to improve and stayed in the UFC. Thats why people might care. MMA isn’t very big over here, and it really only got bigger since the influx of British fighters in the UFC.
Murray was also a fairly decent fighter – he would have had more fights in the big league if he didn’t break someone when he had road rage.
However, this is just speculation. I’m not saying he would have been great, I’m just saying he might have.

I heard from Mark Hughes that Tito was knocked out too.
Ok, there really is no contradiction… I dont see what the problem is. Militech said, Tito missed and Murray clipped him and knocked him down and kicked him. Tito also said he was clipped and on the floor. It all seemd to happen pretty fast and the storys dont contradict as no one has said tito was Knocked out sleeping. It coudl have very wel lbeen just that. Tito ran, slipped or not, got hit, fell, Murry threw a few kicks in before they seperate them and thats all. ITs funny how people just try to blowuptuate in what probably wasa quick 10 second fight with Murry and Tito into a bigg asswhoopng that Murray gave Tito. No where in Titos story did he say that he was NOT hit by Murray.
