awesome interview
i missed chaels post fight, and press confrence interviews. this was the next best thing. what a heart breaker for him, but he seems ok. cant wait to see him fight again soon.
Totally agree...
…there’s something about Sonnen that resonates. I think he might just have a future in broadcasting. Hopefully he’ll get the opportunity to earn a championship belt first

Chael could talk shit all the time and still be more respectful than Anderson is in the ring.
I want to see the rematch asap.

seems very grateful to the ufc. he seemed very honest with how much he thinks the ufc doesnt owe him anything
im very impressed with that

Hes very smart and i like his attitude but.........
I don’t get his talk of beating every champ hes ever foughten and only losing twice when hes lost 3 times in the last four years(Maia counts). And Paulo Filho was never ahead of silva in the rankings, ether way i been of a fan of this guy for a long time and I am even more and as far as im concered he was the real WEC champ so he did make his life goal..
For what profit is it to man if he gains the world , and loses his own soul?

I didn't get that until this interview.. that he beat everyone he ever fought and never lost a round.
and he’s said that in a few major interviews… but the interviewers don’t go on to ask him what he means when he has losses on his record?….. IMAO, what Sonnen is saying is that he was ahead on all the score cards every round he’s ever fought before he got submitted (funny way to say he’s never lost a round) … anyway I don’t like the way he’s presenting his claim….. J. Horn submitted him twice and once in the 1st rnd!… he needs to clarify that sh*t and the dumbass interviewers need to call him out on the comment…. do your job boys!
Now my rant on Sonnen… I went from luke warm to liking him when he was in the WEC… then I did a reversal when he ran for office and rumor spread of him being involved in unscrupulous realestate deal? Then he goes off …I thought he was a narcissitic nut job going and ‘then’ goes off about on Lance Armstrong… ‘WTF’?
After his post fight interview and this candid interview…. I have to say… Sonnen “Is The Most Interesting Man In The World”…LOL…. Sonnen ’s mindset and obssessive need to conditition and compete, is very rare, even among MMA Champions or any other champion in any other sport for that matter……..
The only thing I can say negative about Sonnen’s competitive spirit….. is that his achillies is partly psychological, he panics when choked you can tell by the way he talks about it and doesnt hold out very long in submissions… Ben Henderson and Jon Fitch can somehow stay relaxed, breath and work through these positions better than anyone, and that’s probably more of a mindest than anything else.
If Sonnen wants to, he’ll be in this sport for a lot more years and possibly more than one championship…. that’s how much I think of him as a fighter… it took him kicking Silva’s ass for 4 rounds to make me realize that….. ‘HOWEVER’ if Silva’s rib is good’’’’… he will have a much better chance to KO’ Sonnen, and the next time around, Silva won’t be near as easy to takedown I always thought Silva had tremendous take down defense.. and was suprised that Sonnen made it look so easy everytime… and this is coming from a guy with a long wrestling background… I believe Silva can defend Sonnen’s takedowns a lot better and will next time around… I think Silva gets a KO after receiving a lot of punishment in the rematch…. Silva is extremely durable, and still one of the best p4p fighters… he will eventually capitalize on one of the handful of chances he gets in the standup.
I liked him in the WEC but not now
His claims of beating Filho twice and never losing is pretty stupid. I agree with your assessment of the rematch. There was something very suspicious about Silva’s performance.

its all a spiel
Sonnen is a huge professional wrestling fan and one of the things the one wrestler would do was make an outlandish statement and then deny he said it. he’s just doing some promoting but yeah he means he did more damage in the fight than the other guy. if you’re a high level athlete you have to think you are the best and saying he’s never lost (trust me he knows he has, he isnt delusional) is just his way.
No way is that his last run...
Did u hear that interview?… He will never get tired… not ever… he has an obsessive and relentless mindset, perfected by his wrestling background. Hs style and competivness reminds me of a Suped Up Randy Couture at 185lbs, this guy will be in MMA shape into his forties if he chooses to.
Thor' I agree with your comparison
I don’t know how tight the ties are amongst the old Team Quest family, but if Chael had some Couture game planning it wouldn’t hurt him.

I became a fan
I never liked loudmouths like Chael…I wanted him to beat Silva to a pulp because I can’t stand bullies even more, but I was never a Chael fan…until the post-fight conference and now this interview…damn, nobody else in the fight business is as honest as this guy is, and that’s something I can admire.
Plus he gave Silva the beating I wanted to see, even if he lost in the end :)
You're an idiot. Save your slanderous remarks for the comments section on MSNBC articles.
This was a great interview and for someone to lose in such a dramatic fashion his comments and attitude are setting a new standard in sportmanship.
