MMA Quick Quote: Joe Riggs calls for rematch with Nick Diaz

Riggs_diaz_medium

"Thank God I got the knockout. It all came together tonight. My corner behind me believed in me and pushed me through. It was great.... Who do I want to fight next? I'd like to fight Nick Diaz again. It's kind of sad that I've already beat him and I want to fight him again, but that's a fun fight. My manager, Don, thinks it would be a lucrative fight for me -- so let's get that going. He thinks he beat me the first time and he fucking didn't!"

-- Former number one UFC welterweight contender, Joe Riggs, tells Strikeforce Films that he now has his sights set on red-hot Nick Diaz, who has finished his last seven opponents in impressive fashion. Riggs is fresh off a third round submission finish (strikes) of Louis Taylor in the Strikeforce: "Challengers" 10 main event last night in front of a hometown crowd. It marked the fifth win in the last six fights for "Diesel," which may or may not be good enough to earn him a crack at the Stockton slugger/submission specialist. The pair first collided at UFC 57: "Liddell vs. Couture 3" back in 2006, with Riggs coming away with a unanimous decision. Diaz disagreed, and he let Riggs know it, allegedly dropping him in the hospital after the fight in an unsanctioned rematch. Will the two get to do it again for real this time? And perhaps more important, is it a showdown that you want to see?

LOL.. After that performance??? no way in

Heck Riggs will or should ever fight Diaz again. I don’t remember when I saw Riggs look good in a fight to be honest, probably was the diaz fight. Dude should go to 85, not that I think he would be much more successful there either

Thanks Jay, you are my hero and one hell of a Canadian."

Yeah Nick Diaz is no where near the

fighter he was back in 2006. He has grown leaps and bounds compared to Riggs. Diaz has added a massive stand up game and is still a stud on the ground. I say give Riggs a contenders match. The one relevant fighter he has fought (Jay Heiron) he lost to. I would like to see the rematch, just because there will be some much bad blood in the cage for that fight. It would be interesting to see if things get out of hand or not. I would also like to see if Riggs will poo his pants again!

Florida Laws: 1- Having sexual relations with a porcupine is illegal. 2-If an elephant is left tied to a parking meter, the parking fee has to be paid just as it would for a vehicle.3- You may not fart in a public place after 6 P. 4- Oral sex is illegal. 5-You may not kiss your wife’s breasts.

If Riggs can get at least 2 or 3 wins I would like to see him fight Diaz.

There is so few contenders. Theres Heiron, who should get the next Diaz fight, and Daley will undoubtedly get a win in his SF debut, and get a title shot after that. Thats plenty of time for Riggs to win 2 more fights.

I should never have doubted the wisdom of David W-S or the talent of Junior Dos Santos…and screw Dana White

That Dang Riggs...

Nick Diaz would kick his butt in a rematch. He hasn’t been relevant in years. As much as I hate that poo poo face Nick, he’s better than Riggs, no debating that.

I thought Nick won the first match.

It was close, but Nick should have got the win.

Wow Hugging the nuts some thing serious

Now get me wrong Diaz is ma dude without a doubt and i believe their first match up was close but i do believe Riggs pulled it out at the end.Now the second match wouldnt be that much different then the first because both of these guys prettys much fight almost the same as they did back then. The styles havent changed dramatically,Diaz is still a submission artist with good boxing and Riggs is still a strong wrestler who prefers the stand up.If they fight again its staying on the feet unless Riggs wants it down and from there its really a toss up.Theres no way Diaz is handling Riggs in the wrestling like Louis did,1 Diaz isnt a former div 1 wrestler and secondly hes no where near as powerful as Louis bottom line.

I think Diaz should take this fight

The guys that hes faced so far in Strikeforce arent on the level of Riggs..this would be a step up in competition beings though Riggs did beat him previously and contributed to issuing the pink slip that kicked Diaz out the Big League. Its a chance for redemption and of course…a rubber match.lol

You really think Joe Riggs deserves a title shot at 170 after winning a boring, ugly catchweight fight?

IT is SF so I can see it happening.

They were supposed to rematch back in 09 i think

If Diaz can really beat Riggs i just want to see it,not talk about it.Then well know for sure how much Diaz has really progressed.Who else is there for him to fight?

Paul Daley

He just signed with SF. Or I like the thought of a KJ Noons rematch(Riggs is just garbage so even a KJ rematch is more appealing to me).

I agree! Would love to see him beat the shit out of KJ!!! And Daley

Anderson Silva is by far the number one P4P king!!! Even when he is losing a fight he still comes back and finishes for the win! GSP dominates the whole fight and still can't finish! LOL

lol.I like Daley to

But id be surprised if they gave him a title shot right off the back,id pay for that fight though.

You'd be surprised if SF gave someone a title shot without having to earn it first?

Have you been watching them at all?

Decision Dan Henderson just got a title shot in his first fight for them.
So did Overeem(after one fight at a different weight)
So did Gegard Mousasi.

I think they should give him at least one fight

before he fights Nick against against a Top 3 WW in SF but i wouldnt be to surprised if they put him in there.Im tired of Nick fighting lesser competition in SF anyway, everyone knows the toughest WW without a doubt is in the UFC right now,he needs to go back home and get smashed by some of the wrestlers for a little while.lol.jk

agreed. diaz would pick apart riggs just like everyone else he fights.

I'm all about covering the spread and moneylines. Glory favors the bold. Chance favors the prepared mind. Luck, well i have that too. University of Utah goes to the Pac-12 conference in 2011. I expect them to compete immediately for the conference CG. Brock Lesnar will defeat Cain Velasquez. Womens MMA, the next big thing in sports. 3 weeks till the first game of college football. UTAH vs Pitt. September 2nd 2010.

Would love to see Riggs Diaz 2. I’d rather see Riggs vs Lawler. That match I’ve been wanting to see for a long time. Not sure why that hasn’t happened yet.
