I love Forrest
Dude’s got a great sense of humor. I never understood all the hate he got after the Silva fight, a fight that was pushed on him that he never wanted. The UFC uses him as a whippin’ post to promote other fighters, but he takes it all in stride and keeps giving his best effort and amusing us with his dry, matter-of-fact humor. I think he’s the perfect opponent for Bones right now, but I hate to see him get fed to the wolves AGAIN!
I love the bit where they ask him about running out of the cage after the Silva fight and he says basically,
""I know, right, sometimes I get the whole “fight or flight” thing backwards. I should have run away BEFORE the fight, but I was a little confused. Sometimes you get it wrong, ya know..That’s why you need this book."

Used to not be able to stand him. He is actually really hilarious and his books are funny as hell. (I am halfway through his newest one)

jones wins in first round easily. remember the date 8/11/10. i’ll bring it up once he does it. the speed difference is huge. griffin won’t even be able to get off his strikes vs jones. maybe a few leg kicks and a couple of jabs but jones will dominate.

the only way
I see him winning this is if he gets gritty with Jones, and Jones tries to pull some spinning back elbow ala Faber. Jones is young, and that is his biggest roadblock at this point.

he keeps improving and he basically just got vlad on the ground and got position
and started with the elbows. it was that fast. watch the jones fight with bonnar. bonnar and griffin roughly the same size and speed wise. griffin has more skilll and that is why his career has been bettter but bonnar took more punishment in that fight then anybody should and that was quite a few fights ago. i really feel sorry for what will happen to forrest and i do like him. bad matchup. nobody can match jones speed just like aldo dominates his division jones will dominate his.

But lets be honest as much as a fan favorite as he is he was never that good of a fighter anyway. I think that the Rampage fight was probably the best fight of his career but I also think if they fought that fight 10 time Rampage would win at least 8! And the Shogun he fought and beat was out of shape and still not in fighting form. I like Forrest but never considered him elite beyond name recognition.

Forrest was never a TOP5, IMO. But he’s a legit TOP 10, and a handful for anyone. He’s huge, durable, and has vicious leg kicks.

I like Forrest, I really do. Can’t wait to read the new book an anytime he is interviewed I cant wait to hear what he has to say. But calling him a top 10 LHW is really only by circumstance. I personally don’t think he could beat anyone in the top 10. He’s plodding and slow. For whatever reason recently when he throws strikes in a fight they are lazy and lack urgency. It looks like he sparring half the time out there. If he were to get back snapping the jab and firing the leg kicks then I would take back most of what I said, but until then he is no better then a gatekeeper right now.

It annoys me that Sadollah is trying to be a mini-Forrest, when one Forrest is more than enough.
Not that I don’t like Forrest, but when you see other people trying to pull off his style of humour, it comes across as really fake and forced, which is really annoying.

i guess you did not see that mauling he took from the asian guy.
that guy smothered him the whole fight easily and sadollah had no answers. he lost to jony hendricks too but that was a fast stoppage not that i think it would have made a difference. zhit he even had problems with over the hill baroni in first round. why do you think the ufc has him interviewing guys? they see a likeable guy who could beat a few people but will never be top ten or 15.

I’m a Griffin fan, but sometimes the crazed fan thing gets a little weird. I had a great time at the fan expo last year, but there were grown men, like 30 and 40 yr old dudes, wearing the whole “training kit”, Some even had the matching hairstyle of their favorite fighter. Don’t get me wrong, I was in line to get signatures all day long, and I’m 38, but anyway, I guess that just comes with the territory.

I was at his first book signing, not the 2nd one. I live over in Glen Rock though. Well not anymore, but my parents still do and I still refer to that as home since I havent been out that long.
It's awesome when you see yourself onscreen, even if it is just an arm.
My arm can be seen several times at UFC 105 when the fighters are walking out lol :P
