Alistair Overeem next fight 'hopefully' in October, 'might' fight Bigfoot Silva
Props: The MMA Hour
Quoteworthy:
"Fabricio (Werdum) will not be ready until the beginning of next year so I'm not sure who he'll be fighting next because of the time he'll be taking off. Hopefully we'll have Overeem back in the cage in October. Against who, we don't know. It might be 'Bigfoot' Silva [but] the heavyweight division hasn't been determined and we're still having ongoing dialogue with M-1. That should flesh out here pretty soon and once we come to a deal with them on when (Fedor will) fight, who he'll fight, and with Fabricio out, I think the rest of the division will kind of unfold itself before the end of the year. I don't think [Emelianenko vs. Overeem] will happen this year."
Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker is optimistic about Alistair Overeem returning this Fall to defend his heavyweight title against an opponent to be named. With Fabricio Werdum on the shelf until 2011 and Fedor Emelianenko hiding behind the iron curtain, the promotion may have few options outside of Antonio Silva. Still, Coker stopped short of naming "Bigfoot" as the next contender but considering the state of the division, what other choices does he have? Winner of Lashley vs. Griggs? Let's hear your solutions, Maniacs.

Big Foot is the obvious choice
Not a fight I’m fussed about seeing, but what are the alternatives? Not like SF has a stacked roster to choose from.
I don't see how bigfoot can even be remotely competitive in this fight................
Uberreem is a beast………
"Matt Hughes is the greatest welter weight of all time; I would lick the sweat off his hairy chest after a grueling work out if I could. The only person I look up to more than Matt Hughes is Jay; he’s trying patiently to teach me about MMA, being as I don’t know shit about the sport. Thanks Jay, you are my hero and one hell of a Canadian."
Nobody.

this is why the co promotion stuff is bullshit
They have to get a another deal with m1 before they go any further. It slow down the process and makes stuff way more complicated
My P4P Top 5:
1) GSP 2) Aldo 3) CHAEL SONNEN 4)Shogun 5) Fedor

I agree
Co-promotions should be for super-fights, and only super-fights. They wasted one of Fedor’s matches by putting him up against Rogers. Fedor vs. Overeem should have happened already.

unsightly
didn’t bigfoot lose to werdum then beat A.A and now his in line for a title shot, atleast he won his last fight compared to the trend where rogers had a shot after losing…
Agreed.
