WAR FITCH!
3 rounds of blanketology about to taught to Alves, who should move up to MW after losing this fight.

Would love to see a finish from Fitchy
but in all likelihood we are all going to have to struggle through 15 minutes of gayporn.
"We fight, get beat, rise, and fight again."
The problem is that the last time he finished
a tiny pitbull pup. That puppy has grown up into a fire breathing dragon. I get the feeling that his legs will get viciously battered. He won’t have any spring in his takedowns. He’ll see that this 190+ lbs thiago is a lot meaner that lean kid he fought 4 yrs ago.

God I hope we see some leg kicks
that would equate to less gayporn.
"We fight, get beat, rise, and fight again."
Really? Each kick is an opportunity to get a single or lead to a double...
GSP timed Alves leg kicks very well and got easy takedowns. Fitch will do the same. My question is whether Alves has learned from the mistakes of the GSP fight and if Fitch is strong enough to keep him down for 3 rounds.

Good point
I meant more in the sense of landed leg kicks equaling less power for the TD.
"We fight, get beat, rise, and fight again."
If they don't cost him the takedown, I agree.

Fitch never really had an explosive shot to begin with.
Alves quicks a lot quicker than Fitch. And with his gangly footwork, i think his legs get worked.

Not explosive, but effective. Should be a good scrap...after Fitch/GSP, I don't see Alves KO'ing him. Fitch is tough as nails.

I don’t think he’ll KO him but if he connects like GSP did it’s lights out for sure Alves is not going to let him off the hook.
your mother !
love the new sig...

what makes Alves such a top contender?? He came in like 6 pounds over against Hughes and beat Koscheck who was fighting on like a week’s notice. It’s ridiculous that people think he is some kind of world beater.
Goldberg on Leben: One thing's for sure--he really did break that door on the Ultimate Fighter.
Rogan: uh...yeah.
Agreed. Plus his surgery and the long layoff tilt this towards Fitch (who may be boring but is a top 5 opponent).

If Alves were to come in heavy like he has
Should (not that he would) Fitch refuse the fight? Ive yet to see a fighter do that, because of the possible repercussions, but it would send a message to fighters making weight.

I think a fighter should do what is in his best interest. In Fitch's case - he should refuse the fight if Alves being heavier means he might lose - costing him another title shot.

If your opponent doesn't have enough.....
respect for you to make weight then I say fuck him and decline the fight, but if you do so then I guess there goes all your hard work and training out the window, plus no payday…………
O_o
Exactly
If they do take the fight, don’t they also get a percentage of the other fighter’s pay? That’s would be good reason to go ahead and fight.
besides if ur opponent failed to make weight it usually means they havent prepared properly so theres a good chance theyll gas.

Rogan: uh...yeah.
Wrong, him and his management team notified the UFC
and hughes camp almost three weeks out that he had sustained an ankle injury that was impeding him. He pretty much sat around for the last two weeks of his camp and went to fight tapped up – no running or anything to help keep the weight down.

That is funny, Fitch doesn't realize that smothering doesn't count as a finish.
It is not like putting a pillow over your rich grandmothers face while she is sleeping, because you are the main beneficiary. I hope Alves catches him. Fitches nickname should be along the line of Waffle House hashbrowns, Jon “Smothered and Covered” Fitch!
Silverstar could make a shirt for him that says Smothered and Covered on the front with a picture like this…

And on the back they can put this picture with…MMA is more than just pain the cage, it’s showing a fighter how much Love you’ve got, Fitch style!

Florida Laws: 1- Having sexual relations with a porcupine is illegal. 2-If an elephant is left tied to a parking meter, the parking fee has to be paid just as it would for a vehicle.3- You may not fart in a public place after 6 P. 4- Oral sex is illegal. 5-You may not kiss your wife’s breasts.
I'm sick of these dudes begging for rematches with GSP
GSP should be the one that gets to challenge himself. No rematches until GSP starts a decline.
"Right Leg Hospital, Left Leg Cemetery " ~ Cro Cop.
"One time my wrist watch stopped from fear". ~ Cro Cop.
Then you're punishing them for being great.
This is a sport……if they beat all the contenders then they deserve the rematch (Yes i realize that Fitch will never ever in eternity beat even a declining GSP). Saying no rematches means this is about entertainment. We just have to live with the fact that now WW is locked down just like PRIDE HW was by the trinity of cro cop, nog and fedor.

So...
You believe that GSP should have to keep rematching Fitch, Kos, Hardy, Alves….
I’d rather see him fight at MW or fight Shields or any other WW.
"Right Leg Hospital, Left Leg Cemetery " ~ Cro Cop.
"One time my wrist watch stopped from fear". ~ Cro Cop.
GSP had a longer road
After his initial loss to Hughes GSP fought four fights before getting another title shot. Is the pool that shallow now that it only takes you another fight to get you back in there or are there only a few really talented guys @ 170 that make a title fight worth watching?
"I'm sorry about my performance tonight... I had sand in my vagina."
-Forrest Griffin
My main problem with Fitch and Alves demanding rematches is that they haven't beaten any top fighters since losing to GSP
Fitch has grinded out decison wins over lackluster opponents and Paulo Thiago whilst Alves hasn’t fought period, win/lose neither of them deserve an immediate shot. I’d rather see GSP/Kos-Shields/Kampmann for the title and have the Fitch-Alves winner beat one more contender before getting another crack at the belt (probabaly GSP). Maybe have the winner of this fight face the winner of Hardy-Condit or Hathaway-Pyle.

Aaahhhhh…the good old days. Funny how thinking about Pride gives me the warm and fuzzies.

New contenders will eventually rise, how many
WW prospects do we have on our hands. They’ll be ready in a couple of years and GSP fights what twice a year? And at least these guys can put up a better fight than fn shields or hardy.

He keeps saying he wants to rematch GSP
He’s practically saying so that he thinks (his best buddy training partner who he won’t fight) KOS is not gonna beat GSP. Wonder what KOS has to say

IrishKev, that’s what I thought just from reading the headline. Unanimous Fitch is already assuming his BFF is going to get handled by GSP.
Our lives change like the weather, but a legend never dies.
You and I know that, but as BFFs he is supposed to have a bit more faith in Kos than that, at least in public.
Our lives change like the weather, but a legend never dies.
Kos claimed that Hardy hadn't beaten anybody a week after he beat Swick so the AKA bromance isn't a perfect one

Good point KEV
Anyone know how Alves is doing on his wieght? Last post I seen of him training he looked fat as hell.
"dont want to give to much away of the fight"
we all kno your gonna dry hump the shit outta him. thats all your gonna do
Fitch should be able to take a decision here,
And he should demand a rematch with GSP if he wins it will be five in a row.

Finish? LOL
Jon Fitch hasn’t finished anyone in almost three and a half years. I’m beginning to think that he’s forgotten how it’s done.
Well the only person he finished is the guy he's fighting.
Fitch doesn’t need to finish anyway he’s a grinder it’s what he’s good at, and that’s what he needs to keep doing. If he was gonna finish anyone it was gonna be Suanders( you can give him props if you want but taking that fight was retarded) and we all saw that one.

Only way I see him finishing is by submission
But the way he beats his opponents is much more humiliating than finishing. I know fans like to see a finish but can you imagine getting dominated for all rounds unable to do anything against your will. I would rather be KO or subbed than take 3 rounds of getting mauled unable to do anything except take it no matter how much you struggle!? I love the look in Fitch’s opponents faces after the fight totally degraded and humiliated. You can call his style boring but none the less he is dominating and one of the best WW’s in the world.

Puckhead has got a dam good point
The saunders fight was this to a T. He dominated him EVERYWHERE, thats gotta suck to just be out classed completely.
number one he isn't beating fitch and no way in hell is he stopping him
If gsp had a very hard time holding him down, fitch won’t be able to either. Alves is going to put a hurting on fitch and either tko him or decision him.
Fedor is still the man. This is only his first real loss, and most likely his last of his career, he won't lose again.
Duhhh I mean number one he isn't beating ALVES...lol I need to proof read a little better
Fedor is still the man. This is only his first real loss, and most likely his last of his career, he won't lose again.
I'm cheering for Alves, he's one of my fauvorites for sure
But with his time off and facing the consensus #2 I have my doubts. Alves is a KO artist and maybe one of the best stand up fighters in the WW division. But against a wrestler his leg kicks are no longer strengths but weaknesses because they allow guys like Fitch and GSP a easier way to take him down.
I’m cheering for Alves and if he is at the form he was when faced GSP then I believe you could be right nathang. I just feel that with the time off(13months) he has had and going against Fitch may be to much. If he would of fought Fitch 6 months ago I would be more confident in Alves’s chances but Fitch is that good that I believe the time off will be to much?
"Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth - Mike Tyson
I've never been that high on Alves, the only thing he's really done is blast Hughes.
And Hughes is one of my all time favorites, I think Fitch is too tough for Alves, I see Fitch taking a clear cut decision.
