Thiago Silva has been forced out of his UFC 117 fight with Tim Boetsch due to a back injury that was suffered during training.

Sherdog.com brings word of Silva's replacement for the fight, UFC newcomer Todd Brown.

Silva was last seen duking it out with "Sugar" Rashad Evans in the UFC 108 main event earlier this year. Despite having the former light heavyweight champion on rubber legs towards the end of the fight, the exhausted Brazilian could not capitalize and came up on the wrong end of a unanimous decision for just his second loss since joining the UFC in 2007.

Outside of Evans and current champion Lyoto Machida, Silva is 5-0 inside the Octagon, with TKO wins over Keith Jardine, Houston Alexander and James Irvin.

But the chance for Thiago to get back in the win column will have to wait for now. Instead, Todd Brown has been afforded an opportunity, albeit on short notice, to properly introduce himself to the fight world.

"Bulldog" will be carrying a 11-1 record into his UFC debut while riding an eight-fight unbeaten streak.
