Former UFC middleweight number one contender Demian Maia has competed against both UFC 117 headliners Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen. For Maia, "The Spider" has more chances to keep the belt but he doesn't discard Sonnen's ability to defeat the Brazilian using his wrestling skills to take him down and score sufficient points and possibly grounding and pounding his way to the title. Is Demian just bitter for what Silva did to him at UFC 112? Or is Chael really good enough to become the next champion?

He was delusional enough to think that he could beat Silva…and we saw how that turned out. So his vouching for Chael doesn’t mean much. (No disrespect to Maia, he put up a hell of a fight and stayed in it till the end.)

but that’s just sour apples. Chump Sonnen will fade into obscurity once more after doing a superb job of overhyping this event to the point of rediculousness. He really sounds like Saddam’s information minister during the gulf war.

More than wrestling is required to beat Anderson up. You know what I make of this fight, Anderson will punish him for 5 rounds like St Pierre vs Jon Fitch or Thiago Pitbull. Sonnen will become respectable for bearing Silva and just it.
I wait for Jon Jones or Vitor Belfort. This doesn’t make me confident for a balanced fight and Jones is building his path up.

actually i think of Sonnen had decent sub defense, id be giving him a pretty decent shot at winning this.
i think unless Sonnen gets KOed in the first (real possibility) then get subbed.
