Shark Fights 13: Paul 'Semtex' Daley confirmed for Sept. 11 in Amarillo

Paulsemtexdaley2_medium

Amarillo, TX. - July 26, 2010- It was formally announced today that UFC veteran, Paul "Semtex" Daley, has signed a one-fight deal with Shark Fight Promotions, a fast-rising fight promotion company based out of Amarillo, Texas. It has been confirmed that Daley will fight on the Shark Fights 13 card in September. Daley's opponent is yet to be determined and will be announced in the coming weeks.

"Words cannot express how elated we are that Paul Daley has agreed to fight for our organization. Daley is arguably one of the best 170-pound fighters in the world." states Brent Medley, president of Shark Fight Promotions.

Medley went on to say, "We are currently in the process of choosing Daley's opponent. Several marquee fighters are being considered and a decision will be made very soon. This is shaping up to be an incredible card! Numerous A-list fighters have been confirmed for the Shark Fights 13 roster."

Paul Daley (24-9-2) recently defeated Daniel Acacio via submission at Impact FC 2 - The Uprising in Sydney, Australia, and was riding a four -fight win streak prior to his loss to Josh Koscheck at UFC 113. Daley has fought for many notable organizations throughout his career, including EliteXC, Strikeforce, Maximum Fighting Championship, Pancrase and the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Star-divide

He is also ranked #7 in the world in the welterweight division according to Sherdog.com. This will be Daley's first fight in the United States, following his highly publicized departure from the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Daley had this to say, "I'm very excited to be fighting in the U.S. again. Despite my conduct during the Koscheck fight, which I agree is inexcusable; fans in the United States have been very supportive. For that I am very grateful."

Daley goes on to say that he will do whatever it takes to make amends, "I can't undo what has already been done, but I'm determined to prove to everyone that the fighter they saw at UFC 113 is not who I am. I am better than that and the fans deserve better than that. I plan to do whatever it takes to earn back their respect and the respect of everyone in the industry. I'm genuinely looking forward to fighting back in the U.S., on what I feel is one of the most impressive fight cards that has been pulled together in quite some time."

Paul Daley is just one of many A-list competitors that have been confirmed for Shark Fights 13. The impressive roster includes Keith Jardine, Trevor Prangley, Rameau Sokoudjou, Houston Alexander, Drew McFedries and Joey Villasenor. Shark Fight Promotions will announce the full fight card and additional details about the event soon! To learn more about Shark Fight Promotions, please visit www.sharkfights.com.

My opinion is....

That Paul Daley made a very poor and idiotic move against Kos at UFC 113. He knows how dumb and counter-productive it was. I think the UFC needs a commissioner that will act as a Roger Goddell. This wasn’t just dangerous but, criminal in many ways in fact. The UFC is just dying to establish itself in Ontario and needs all it can get to build a reputation. I would have released Daley but, would not have banned him. Dana White should review this case in a year from the occurrence and establish probationary requirements for Daley like public service, charity work ect… Michael Vick did more damage to himself and the league with his actions then Daley did to MMA and hes done his time and is back. Dana White, show some professionalism and evaluate the persons means of retribution for his actions. I hope Daley can get back in the big show but, good that hes keeping up.

good point

What daley did is small fries compared to the atrocities vick committed…and he is back making millions. Not that it would justify it, but I (and the rest of the world) still really want to know what exactly kos was whispering down there…I’m sure if it was nasty enough others might have been tempted to do the same…again, not sayin its right…

Off Topic

Note, I love to pick on NFL players.

The one thing that I find extremely shocking about the Michael Vick controversy is how the media continued to run the story and create a national uproar. The NFL are filled with walking violations. I’ll accept that dog-fighting is really horrible, period. Can we at least acknowledge that he in the NFL who has not has sinned in the NFL please cast the first stone at Michael Vick?

These guys

  • drive drunk
  • drive recklessly, really fast, hit old women then leave the scene of the accident
  • punch their ex-girlfriends
  • use cocaine and marijuana
  • assault their wives
  • behave sexually innappropriate (many false rape claims against jocks)
  • punch officers of the law
  • endangering children

I’m not going to get into what the fans do before, during and after the games. And people want to crucify Michael Vick. Look at Mr. Image himself, Tiki Barber? He cheats on his wife while she’s pregnant with twins? That’s not a crime but . . . I’m just saying.

I think there’s a possibility of Daley coming back to the UFC in 2011 or 2012. Who knows?

I know what you mean

Both were embarrassing at points in that fight, Dana white and the world knows that Kos embellished that knee to him while grounded. Kos should not be on the show if you ask me personally but, I know and alot of people seem to agree that he will be a great character lol.

Seriously.

I know people love to hate him so they’ll probably watch, but who would rather be on his team than GSP’s?

Hadoken!!

He’ll be back in the UFC one day if he wants to speed up his route back to the UFC he need to prove that he can beat some quality wrestlers if he cant do that then there is no point coming back because he will just get humped to death in the inevitable rematch with Kos

Semtex

I think it’ll be kind of wierd to announce his nickname “semtex” because he’ll be fighting on Sept.11.
