Gamburyan stands hard hits. We're having a good match-up.

I like Gaburyan, he’s a brawler. But Also is superior at any area. I wait a submission win.

I don’t see any possible way manny wins this fight….His only hope is to catch him w/ a big bomb early… I don’t see that happening..Manny goes to sleep looking like Leben vs. Silva chasing him down and getting pummeled…

no one taking manny at +400?

Aldo Has Shown Us All His Amazing Striking Ability

Manny can hit hard sure but he doesnt have the reach to connect with Aldo without coming inside where Aldo has proved to be lethal. Aldo will most likely finish this inside of 3 rounds. Manny is a tough guy but Aldo is on a whole other level.

by AintNoSunshine on Jul 26, 2010 3:15 PM EDT reply actions

Thats my take as well

Manny can win if he lands the, much needed, big shot, but I doubt that will happen

Pretty much, I haven't watch a lot of Faber's old fights but I've never seen a Ju Jitsu guy own him like that.

Manny might come in bigger and stronger but I’m starting to think Aldo is one of the more well rounded guys out there.

I would love to see him come to UFC 155.

I don’t want to see him beating the same guys again and again.

and its a win-win situation,

Not only will it provide the ufc lw division some freshh blood and more exciting match ups, it also means that marlon sandro can have a go at the wec fw title

honestly i havnt seen any aldo fights outside of the faber one
has his chin ever been really tested?

Nobody can get close enough to test it..

He’s way too fast he’s got good footwork and very accurate with his strike’s.. This kid is scary good.. And his ground game is suppose to be just as good as his striking.. Training at nova uniao it should be.

thats just like asking if anderson silvas chin has ever been tested!

i can’t wait to see aldo compete again. the guy is in a league of his own at that weight class. he’s clearly a special fighter/athlete

by godofdixie on Jul 26, 2010 3:58 PM EDT reply actions

I completely agree

And I haven’t seen one bit of clowning in the ring, or disrespect to his opponents either. He seems confident and grounded, a nice combination.

He comes to finish the fight, and showcases spectacular skills. I really hope he can maintain his performance if/when he goes to 155.

by The real Philo on Jul 26, 2010 6:36 PM EDT up reply actions

i hope it too

Lets just hope he will train mostly at nova uniao in brazil and stays away from black house where he can be influenced by andy silva

WEC was never owned by ufc till ufc bought them, just like ufc bought Pride and killed it!

Aldo probably via tKO round1

Manny is pretty good but really hasnt shown anything to make anyone think he will last long with Aldo, as always its mma anything can happen.

His name is Manvel "The Anvil" Gamburyan

That’s twice today that I’ve read a rather informative article in which the author misnamed a fighter. Great article, but I can’t get over the ignorance regarding the subject matter. Not bashing you guys, just spend the extra thirty seconds to look up the fighters on Wikipedia before you publish a misinformed article. It would be the same as my writing a Football article about Greg Brady’s quarterback rating.

by RU486 on Jul 26, 2010 7:34 PM EDT via mobile reply actions

That came out harsh.

Sorry, Jesse, I’m actually a fan of your outside-the-box approach sometimes to MMA journalism. Was just pointing out the obvious.

by RU486 on Jul 26, 2010 7:39 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions

I like to point this out as well.

I’ve been giving them $#!& since there was no SBNation association and there was no registration. Especially now that they are on SBNation they need to act more like a professional MMA blog and less like a teenagers Twitter. Just sayin. Maybe a little harsh RU but the truth hurts. Mania is awesome and it’s the only place I visit anymore for MMA news. I used to be all over the place and this is where I settled so it’s not like I’m just a hater.

Do not. I repeat, do not, go to mma-core.com. I made the mistake of watching a couple UFC 108 bouts on there and I am still trying to get all the viruses of my computer. Ridiculous! You've been warned.

The only way Aldo loses this

is if he pulls a Mike Tyson and just has let the instant rise go to his head and is taking the Anvil lightly, not training, partying, etc.

Aldo wins this via vintage Wanderlei onslought early in round 1. I’m pulling for Miguel too as I’ve enjoyed watching him over the years. Hopefully he can get back on track.

really like to see miguel get back on track. enjoyed watching him fight, though i don’t know if he can ever be a contender again, he seems to be a good dude. Valencia is no slouch though, but i’ll take torres in this one.
