Boxing vs Karate

Rampage better come out super aggressive. It gives Lyoto the most chance to counter but That’s the only way to close in on the chin. I imagine though it will look like the Thiago S fight coz rampage isn’t that quick and plods forward flat footed. Doubt he’ll be scared of his power though.

Rampage is slow and flat-footed. He’s going to end the fight with a similar stupid look on his face that he made fun of Rashad for.

He doesn’t have to be flat footed if he’s coming at Lyoto aggressively he has no chance of losing i say, lyoto can’t hurt Rampage and his defense isn’t there .

can't hurt rampage?

Quittin Jackson? were talking about the same guy?

Rampage’s heart is gone. So are his chances.

Cant Help But Agree

Rampage got alot taken out of him mentally after being housed by Rashad. I dont think he has that warrior mentality, that killer instinct. This could end up being a ugly boring decision win for Machida.

by AintNoSunshine on Jul 26, 2010 1:03 PM EDT up reply actions

so what about Machida who got KO'd ? good mental boost right there.

I think this is the best fight possible for Ramapge and it coming so soon after his loss to rashad is only good..

Wonder who’s got the edge there? Especially now that Ed Soares and Joinha are forcing (pushing really) everyone to start training together.

Even bettter

Brute Force and Power vs Fineness and Accuracy
And about Rampage countering, yes he only needs to land 1 big shot but Shad is faster than Rampage and Machida is faster than Shad…

by Edgecrusher71 on Jul 26, 2010 1:24 PM EDT up reply actions

So by that logic Edgecrusher...then Shogun has the fastest hands at LHW

because Machida lost to Shogun who I suspect must be faster than Machida since he took him out?! Nahhh….very flawed logic.

Just because Machida beat Shad doesnt mean his hands are faster than Shads, it means he either countered correctedly or threw an effective combo when he saw the opening.

I can’t imagine Shogun’s hands being faster than Page’s yet he knocked out Machida with them.

Ya left out one glaring hole in ....

…. Edgecrushers logic and reasoning …….. Shogun got beat by Forrest and Shogun looked like shit aginest Mark Cloeman . So does that mean Coleman and Griffin should be in the title talk too ?

Swing and a miss cock bags ;-p

What I am saying is Page wasn’t able to counter Rashad very well because Shad was so much quicker and elusive and Machida is quicker than Shad and more elusive. So with that logic I think it will be hard for Page to connect with Machida. I don’t know what is so flawed about that.

by Edgecrusher71 on Jul 27, 2010 7:30 PM EDT up reply actions

Sometimes you slow folks just ....

…. don’t get it . Rashad and Machida use their quickness in different ways . Rashad use his to set up takedowns and Lyoto uses his to hit and run . Also you realize that your logic is in fact flawed , right ? The way your logic looks is A can beat B because C beat A . This is fighting not math .

And its hard for most guys to connect on Machida , but Shogun did it and hes much slower than Lyoto .

by MidWayMonster54 on Jul 27, 2010 10:00 PM EDT up reply actions

Nope

I am not saying A can beat B because C beat A. It is funny you talk about logic. I am saying that on a given night Machida is faster than Shad and Shad gave Rampage issues because of his speed, he was quicker to the punch. Regardless of how they used it, Shad gave Page problems do in large part to his speed. I am not talking about a whole fight where someone will win because they beat someone and so on. I am saying in a competition no one is perfect and it seems Rampage has issues with dealing with people that can get to the punch before he can. Like Forrest and Shad. Now Machida is more accurate and quicker than both those guys. I am not saying Machida will for sure with but that speed will give Rampage issues

i dont think machida will sub rampage either

i think someone is getting knocked out in this fight. either page will get leg kicked to the point that he can barely walk, or the dragon will get ko’d with a crazy hook or something

Its Actually Very Possible BZ.

However, after suffering his first Loss and KO I see Machida taking zero chances and pulling off a boring decision he wins on points from just small combos and maybe a trip TD once a round

by AintNoSunshine on Jul 26, 2010 1:04 PM EDT up reply actions

interesting.... I've never seen (no one has) Machida off a KO loss or a loss of any kind

Boring UD would be ol’skool Dragon FTW and is possible. Probably the highest likelyhood.

Machida's Camp and Father

Probably want him outside of Rampages reach as he jumps in and out scoring on small flurries. He may get inside for the leg trip once a round and may sit in Rampages guard to ride out a round.

Thats just what I feel anyways

im sorry fellas, but i just can’t see it happening..

i would be suprised if rampage got submitted by a guy liike machida let alone anyone in the lhw divison…

i do agree that rampage doesn’t seem to have the same drive he once had, so with that reason and the fact that anything can happen in mma, that would be the only way page loses via sub…

imo- machida still has that drive to compete so im leaning toward picking him to win.. but then again why would rampage take such a dangerous fight unless he feels that desire again??

lots of reasons to like this fight!~ i can’t wait..

but this is a main event caliber fight and he will get a cut of the ppv money (I would think) and this fight will sell more tickets than him vs. bonnar.

is this a main event? even still i would think rampage gets a ppv regardless, idk?
does machida even have more fame than a guy like bonnar? imo- thats a good question too..

i get your point, but rampage could have fought anyone and would still get paid higher than most fighters… im not so sure if he picked machida for a better paycheck..

imo- i think he chose to fight rashad[at the time] over machida, cause machida doesn’t have as many fans…

by ViolentMike on Jul 26, 2010 3:57 PM EDT up reply actions

Been thinking about this match-up for awhile now

Upon first review it would appear an open and shut case for Machida mainly because of the following:
1) Better camp
2) More well rounded MMA fighter
3) Better mindset = mentally tougher
4) Better strategy/gameplanning

For Page the advantages are:
1) Fight more likely to stay on feet
2) No big layoff between last fight and this one
3) KO power in both hands
4) Best Punch defense in the UFC

So I can imagine one of two scenarios:

1) Machida winning by points on a UD
2) Page corners Machida and wins the battle of return fire

Either way, getcha popcorn and use the restroom while Buffer is going through all the verbal gyrations that he is known for.

I think you have a very good point BZ

Lyoto’s clinching leg sweep is really tricky and Page’s balance is not near as good as Machida’s. Then again he might KO him like he did Silva. Either way Machida just has such a huge speed advantage.

The only way Lyoto is gonna win this ....

…. fight is via decision . He’ll attempt to stay away from Rampage’s power and dance to a decision . Only one issue Rampage can KO him with one punch so if Machida counters and can’t hurt Rampage ( kinda like the Shogun fight ) that could be the opening that Rampage needs to KO Machida . Also I think Machida is going be be tentative and aware of Rampages KO power .

So my prediction for this fight is Rampage via KO . He’ll get in close Machida will attempt to counter and Rampage will land bomb and knock the " special " drink right outa Lyoto .
