UFC 115: Why didn't Pat Barry follow Cro Cop to the ground after flooring him?
Because he tells MMAFighting.com that he was just hurt too bad to do anything about it:
"The world couldn't see it because the camera wasn't close enough to my face, but as soon as I broke my hand – that was the second punch I landed that knocked him down – as soon as it happened, my lip was starting to tremble, and for two reasons. One, it hurt terribly. I never would have guessed that it was only one broken bone. I felt like all the bones in my hand were, like, entirely disintegrated.... We were on the ground in the second and he was on top of me punching me and he asked me what was wrong. He said, 'What's wrong with you? Why'd you stop fighting?' I told him, 'I broke my hand,' and he was like, 'Bullsh*t.' I said, 'No sir. My hand is broken. That hand is gone.'"
Does his disappearance after round one make a little more sense now, or did you put the pieces together when you saw him in a wheel chair after the submission loss? Or maybe after you saw pics of his broken hand and foot right here. Either way, would you like to see an instant rematch or is it time to move on?

wow
“We were on the ground in the second and he was on top of me punching me and he asked me what was wrong,” said Barry. “He said, ’What’s wrong with you? Why’d you stop fighting?’ I told him, ‘I broke my hand,’ and he was like, ‘Bullsh*t.’ I said, ‘No sir. My hand is broken. That hand is gone.’”

lmao
yea that’s what caught my attention the most. cro cop had that fool answering sir during the match
That, and the fact that he needed a wheelchair for a broken hand.
Our lives change like the weather, but a legend never dies.
That probably had more to do with the broken foot and the fact that he couldn’t use crutches with a broken hand.

Pat is going to be pretty good he will be back. He just needs some R&R , but in the mean time .......

What about his other hand and why would you tell your opponent that you have an injury?
He should train with Rich Franklin.
Come on, cut him some slack. He is young and def inexperienced compared to CC. It probably never happened to him before. You can never train for certain things - you just have to experience them before you learn.

~
im glad he’s a nice guy too!
if not? my boy cro copper could be retired right now..
pat let mirko get comfortable with all the friendly antics.. after mirko got cracked that second time, he looked worried.. than he gave berry that smile and got a reaction from pat. pat smiled back and hugged him and high 5ed it up, that imo was his mistake…
if mirko didn’t get that reaction from berry, i think pat would have beat him down..

You think it might be too much respect he has for his opponents or just CC himself?

Just Mirko
Berry said multiple time before the fight that Cro Cop was his hero and was his biggest fan. I doubt Berry would treat any other opponent that “loosely”.
I'm pretty sure
That If pat is reading this he’s using his good hand! And Cro Cop is a badass!

Yeah he choked him in the 3rd
Went to my first jits class. Don't think I was ever so happy with getting my ass handed to me
He's no Franklin
I have broke my hand in a fight before and anyone who has knows how bad it hurts. It takes a special (crazy) person to be able to still throw punches with it. I couldn’t even make a fist let alone punch with it. I understand what Barry is saying but it makes you respect the hell out of the guys who have fought through broken hands. This shows that not every UFC guy can do it. We know Faber, Franklin, Leonard Garcia and Chan Sung Jung (The Korean Zombie) both had broken hands during their fight. I am sure there are a lot more if so post some more badas*es
Franklin actually had a broken arm.
My personal favorite is when Gabe Gonzaga broke Randy’s forearm with a high kick, and Randy used it to grand and pound his way to victory.

naturalshadow - you are given half credit.
Though Franklin broke his arm in his most recent fight vs Chuck, Ace broke his hand vs David Loiseau in their fight a few years back. If you want to talk about badasses, Rich broke it in the 2nd, and that fight went the distance! Imagine fighting for the better part of 20 minutes with a broken hand!
and Kurt Pellegrino
broke his hand in the first round of the Joe Stevenson fight. He gutted it out like Franklin and narrowly lost a decision.

He didn’t just go the distance in that fight…he absolutely punished Loiseau even after the break. Unbelievable

Badass wise, I am probably most impressed with Urijah Faber in his second fight against Mike Brown.
He broke both of his hands in a 5 round fight. I think he broke the right hand in the 2nd, and that hand was smashed. Not sure when he broke the other hand, but I know it wasn’t long after the first. He stayed in the fight with mostly elbow strikes, and still almost took it at the end via submission. He may have lost the fight, but I was still damn impressed. I don’t think anyone would have blamed him much for staying on the stool in his fight against Aldo either, but he still went the distance with that Michelin Man leg.

He said “two things” but only named one thing.
Goldberg on Leben: One thing's for sure--he really did break that door on the Ultimate Fighter.
Rogan: uh...yeah.
good point
to answer the last question, i don’t see a reason for a rematch, at least not immediately.
cc head – 1
pb fist – 0
They did a “…” in the middle of the quote. Generally that means he said more in the quote, but the author didn’t add that portion of it to the article and chose to move on to the more potent line of his conversation with Cro Cop on the ground.

Fedor
Although I’m not a big fan, doesn’t he always break his hand and beat the crap outta people with it?
