he seems a lot more likeable now.

I think the loss has been good for him. He used to seem really creepy and stiff to me and now I think that may have been the result of the pressure he was under to stay undefeated and live up to everyone’s (father, Anderson, hometown, etc) expectations. He seems a lot more human and relaxed now.

Rampage desperately needs to change camps!

If he stays with those jokers at Wolfslair, he doesn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell at winning this fight.

However, if he trained with Couture, actually had a game plan other than “Hit him.” and reintegrated his wrestling skills, I think he could pose a very credible threat to Machida. He’s got the chin and the boxing defense to keep from getting KOd, but Machida will out-point him all night on the feet. Rampage needs to get this fight to the ground and have a good plan for what to do when it gets there. He won’t get that advice from his pals in the UK. They’re gonna fill him with false confidence in his standup skills and tell him to go for the 1-punch KO like always and that will cost him a unanimous decision loss 99 times out of 100 against a guy like Machida.

Serene as usual.
I like the way Lyoto sees the business. He, Fedor, nobody’s defeated the whole life (excecpt for Rickson Gracie).
Shogun vs Machida III will take place for sure and I will forward it. While Quinton Jackson doesn’t decide who he wants next, Machida did it and I go with him for this fight.
The techniques exchange is great for both Lyoto and Anderson. I’d like to see Nogueiras there together to set a great camp for the upcoming challenges.
Yeah, Anderson is a step over the other middleweights and he is going to prove it versus Soneca (asleep in Portuguese, just a parody).

Machida is a bad man

I like Rampage as a fighter, but he’s going to tire himself out throwing bombs. I don’t think he’ll connect with Machida, he’s too elusive. Machida will bend Rampage backwards like he did Evans.

Are your high right now ? Typing from ...

…. a padded room maybe ? Why don’t you give me some names of fighters ( minus Wandy and Shogun ) that have KO’ed Rampage . If Lyoto wins he’ll win by decision and if Rampage wins he’ll win by KO . My guess on this fight is Lyoto is gonna come out a bit tentative and Rampage will end up catching him . Rampage by KO .

I doubt they’d allow a computer in a padded room. Too many sharp edges and hard surfaces. Maybe a foam keyboard with a monitor behind glass.

Anyone can be knocked out, at any given time. Rampage has been ko’ed 3 times, it can happen again. Lyoto has knockout power in his legs and hands, it could happen. Especially if Rampage tires (which he does rather easily) from trying to take his head off.

Name the three ...

…. omitting two names , Shogun and Wandy .

ko'd once by wanderlei. the only ko loss of his career.

after eating 25 consecutive knees to the head. the Shogun loss was a TKO, he had nowhere to go when Shogun was soccerkicking him, something that’s illegal in the UFC.

By your logic though, who has KO'ed Machida besides Shogun?

What makes you so sure that Rampage cannot get KO’ed but Machida can?

I’m not necessarily disagreeing with your assessment, but why is it such a crazy notion that Rampage might get KO’ed when he got caught by Rashad in his last fight, who Machida KTFO (I know it’s MMAath lol).

by Phevos on Jul 23, 2010 3:46 PM EDT up reply actions

Yea Rashad caught him ....

…. with the perfect shot , but what did it do to Rampage ? It knocked him off balance thats it thats all . That shot would have KO’ed 95% of fighters and all it did to Rampage was throw off his balance . Also one other thing to point out here is how many times has Rampage lost back to back fights in almost 40 fights ? None . To me a guys thats been KO’ed only three times in a nearly 40 fight career by two of the best in the business is less likley to be stanky legged than a dude with a lacking chin like Rashad .

Also in the Rashad v Machida fight Rashad did land some nice shots on Lyoto . If Rampage lands any of those same shots it could be lights out for Lyoto . Lyoto seems to have issues with agressive fighters that can take some punishment ( say like Shogun and Rampage ) . That said your correct , on any given night any fighter can get KO’ed , but if I’m layin cash on it I’d bet it all on Rampage not gettin KO’ed by Machida . Thats just my opinion though .

Another thing with this fight is how Lyoto will fight after a loss with the same type fighter that just KO’ed him . Like I said before I think hes gonna be tentative and I think it will hurt his chances to win , much less get a win via stanky leg . If Lyoto win it’ll be a decision .

Agreed; I was just interested in knowing more in-depth what your thinking was.

I think it will depend on huge part on how Machida comes to fight.

He did mention that he has been training his wrestling a bit more, so it’ll be interesting to see if he tries to take it to the ground a bit more, although Rampage is no slouch on the ground either.

I agree though, if Rampage wins, it’ll most likely be a (T)KO, and if it goes the distance, Machida will likely win.

by Phevos on Jul 23, 2010 5:05 PM EDT up reply actions

Exactly . Machida has all the tools ...

…. to take this fight the distance and thats what he’ll have to do in my opinion to win . And while Lyoto is training his wrestling I still think the likelihood of Machida taking Rampage down are low . Rampage only got taken down 3 times by a much better wrestler in Rashad so Machidas chances are marginal at best , when it comes to wrestling .

I just get the feeling that Lyoto will attempt to counter Rampage , will land several shots on Rampage , Rampage will walk through them ( much like Shogun did ) and land the one KO punch he needs to end the fight .

Rashad landed a kick to Machidas midsection

And that was pretty much all in the whole fight. The question is if Machida will be hesitive and tenitive from getting knocked out. His been able to get the takedown EVERY fight. I would say his wrestling is better than Rampage. He passing on the ground is not the best though, and he should be way more active. I don’t think Machida likes to be punched in the face and I think that’s his biggest weakness.
