I don't see it that way at all.
I thought if Fedor lost the world would stop spinning, but anything is possible nowadays.
I think Edgar has 10x the chance of beating Penn again, compared to Chael beating Anderson.

One could say the same for lesner before he got his chance at a less than spectacular HW champ. Lesner is much more formidable an opponent than Couture is…Carwin vs Couture in a HW title match = Carwin as the winner.
That was my point.
Both Lesner and Penn are more popular and much more lucrative for Danass vs the other two I mentioned.
Maynard was supposed to be Edgar’s first opponent but seems like Penn’s mom tweeted Danass and she got her way (again). So much for earning your way into a title fight.

When I referred to new, it is exactly as you stated that GSP has done the first lap with most of the top contenders.
I too do not want to see another GSP Penn 3 but to really stop the greasegate comments, a third fight is the only way to end this controversy for the dedicated Penn fans.
GSP should also move up to 185…..is it just me or are some weight divisions (155/170/185) just stagnating and the UFC has run out of exciting fights to offer?

Yes, when someone dominates for so long, that division does get a bit stagnant.
GSP and Anderson have been dominating for quite some time. I would like to see GSP move up at least for a couple of fights, but I also can’t blame him if he decides to stay where he is at, and wait for competition to come to him.

GSP greased undeniably.
The ref warned him after the first round and wiped it off.

To Put Grease And GSP Situation
into some better light and persepctive. Wiping it off would do nothing once applied. Once moisture came upon the skin the pores would open up thus releasing the vaseline. So peopel say oh they wiped it off, doesnt matter. Go apply Vaseline to your face, then wipe it off. Then go run, it will seep through your pours.
Did GSP do it, yes. Did Phil Nurse intentionally apply it, yes. People that say why didnt the NSAC overturn it need to do their homework. there wasnt a rule in place at that time. Now there is.
Also, GSP DIDNT NEED TO GREASE. But he did. And that hampered the result for alot of people. there were times when BJ worked his high guard and GSP just slipped right through. Was it sweat related yes, was their grease also in the mix yes.

But if there was a rule in place the bout should have been a No Contest and his belt should have been stripped. He blatantly cheated. Phil Nurse should have been suspended as well from cornering fights. The UFC should have done more. Cheating has no place in MMA especially when this type of cheating wasnt even needed to win the fight, thats what makes it worse in my opinion

This topic is beyond dead. I would like to see a 3rd fight so that GSP would put him into retirement and then BJ would come out of retirement for a superfight with Lil Evil.
Bring on a 3rd fight and watch the domination……..then you all can come up with some other excuses just like everytime BJ loses. i had a fanpost breaking down how i thought the fight played out, and that was written 2 days after watcfhing the fight, so it explains my opinon better, cause it was fresh in my mind.. im going to look for it now.. should still be saved..

I believe Machida knew he lost as did 99% of the people who watched the fight.
The Penn/Edgar fight was much closer and the decision wasn’t as much a shocker. I would be upsed also if everybody kept trying to discredit my victory. Now if I was Machida I would have stayed quiet as a mouse exactly the way he did.

BJ is definitely the favorite but Frankie’s got more hunger, better cardio, is much faster on the feet and I still can’t believe that he got the takedown on BJ a couple of times in the first fight. I don’t believe any other 155’er has been able to take BJ down before.
