Impact FC results and quick recap for 'Uprising 2' on July 18 in Sydney

Impact-fc-banner_medium

Impact FC staged another "Uprising" late Saturday night/early Sunday morning when it brought a cast of MMA notables to its July 18 pay-per-view from the Sydney Entertainment Centre in Sydney, Australia.

Leading the charge "Down Under" was former UFC and PRIDE heavyweight Pedro Rizzo, bagging and tagging Ken Shamrock with little-to-no resistance.

People may find it kind of sad that Shamrock still competes well into his forties despite losing eight of his last ten bouts, but what's really sad is that after 17 years in the fight game, "The World's Most Endangered Man" is incapable of checking a leg kick.

"The Rock" coasted to a first round TKO -- and barely broke a sweat in the process.

Speaking of sweaty Brazilians, Paulo Filho put his weigh-in troubles behind him to face off against Denis Kang. Unfortunately the results were inconclusive as the fight ended in a split draw after three rounds of back-and-forth action.

UFC exile Paul Daley got back into the win column with a TKO victory over a very game Daniel Acacio. "Semtex" sliced his way to a verbal tap out in the third round after landing a nasty elbow from the Brazilian's guard.

In other action, Murilo "Ninja" Rua took a submission win over Jeremy May, Jesse Taylor forced Murilo Bustamante to call it quits and Glover Teixeira lit up Marko Peseli for a first round TKO stoppage.

Complete Impact FC: "The Uprising 2" results (courtesy of Bloody Elbow) after the jump.

Pedro Rizzo def. Ken Shamrock via TKO (leg kicks and punches) R1, 3:33
Paul Daley def. Daniel Acacio via submission (elbow) R3, 1:15
Soa Palelei def. Brad Morris via submission (kimura) R1, 4:20
Denis Kang vs. Paulo Filho ruled a split draw
Murilo "Ninja" Rua def. Jeremy May via submission (guillotine choke) R1, 4:02
Jesse Taylor def. Murilo Bustamante via submission (retirement) R2, 2:10
Jim York def. Peter Graham via submission (rear-naked choke) R1, 3:44
Glover Teixeira def. Marko Peselj via TKO (punches) R1, 2:55
Richie "Vas" Vaculik def. Glenn Taylor-Smith via submission (rear-naked choke) R2, 4:16
Manuel Rodriguez def. Shane Nix via technical submission (north-south choke) R1, 4:22

Stay tuned for more action from Impact FC as they bring their next "Uprising" from Rio de Janeiro in September.

I've wondered this myself...

You’d think with Shogun being the LHW Champ he could put a good word in for his brother.
That said, I don’t think Ninja would make much noise in the UFC’s MW Division.

Agree

Also if you look at some of the guys he’s lose to Henderson,Arona and Jackson, all these guy have big names in mma there no shame in getting beat by any of them. Not to mention he arguably won the Jackson fight. I say give him a shot in the UFC. Hell even if he loses to the best guy in the division he would make a good gate keeper.

True.

I say bring him over to the UFC.
But there’s no way he’d get as much success as his brother. With the recent health problems he’s had, and his questionable chin, I don’t think he’d be in the UFC for long, although he’d give us some awesome fights whilst there.

agreed

i wouldn’t even mind seeing him in strikeforce, as long as he is somewhere better than he is now and has better opponents to face

Ninja first of all has been on a slow but bad decline.

Also when Kharitonov fucked him up, he got a brain bleed after that fight. That’s why he went down all weird in that fight. He’s had two brain surgeries since and simply has not been OK since. He is not fit to fight at a high level or worth it for the UFC to take that risk. Right now also, you hear people in know saying the man can barely talk normal.

decent fights

but man that announcing and commentary was horrilble. made you want to watch with the sound off. really unproffesional looking event but some alright fights.

My Thoughts Exactly

Commentary wasn’t too good, camera work was HORRIBLE! I mean MULTIPLE TIMES you missed a big hit or slam because they had a bad angle. The fights themselves were entertaining enough, all the verbal tapouts show you why these aren’t UFC guys anymore.

Give a man to fish and feed him for a day. Kick his stupid ass and maybe he will leave you alone.

to leg kicks, come on Shammy, even for you this was a bad loss.

wow!!! richie vas was awesome. Come on Aussies!!!!

By the way, shammy looked pretty small. And JT money has awesome personality. Nothing like the Ultimate Fighter which made him look like a douche. Bring another card to Australia please UFC.
