UFC 117 results, updates and LIVE fight coverage for 'Silva vs Sonnen' on Aug. 7 in Oakland

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is set to blow the lid off the Oracle Arena in Oakland, Calif., TONIGHT (Aug. 7) live on pay-per-view (PPV).

UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen (185-pound division limit)

Round one: Silva comes out and throws a double right that lands. Sonnen with a right of his own, shoots and nothing there. Body kick from Silva. Sonnen rocks Silva with a right!!! Silva buckles and Sonnen is charging forward!!! Another right from Sonnen and Silva is hurt bad!! Sonnen gets a take down but Silva reverses and now their back to the feet. Sonnen is throwing bombs and is landing at will right now!! Silva is hurt and Sonnen with a take down and is on top in half guard now. Sonnen with some punches from the top. Silva trying to wall walk. Sonnen now landing some big shots from the side and now has the back  of SIlva!!! Wow this is amazing. Silva rols out and Sonnen is back on top. Sonnen is landing some HUGE shots from the top as he is posturing up. Sonnen pins down one of Silva's arms. Silva now slips back into full guard. Sonnen postures up and is pounding away with punches. HUGE left from Sonnen lands. Sonnen now in side control, this is amazing Sonnen is beating down Anderson Silva. Sonnen is physically dominating and out striking the Spider. That is the bell and Sonnen is DOMINATING this is amazing. My heat is pounding i have never seen anything close to this in a Spider Silva fight. 10-9 Sonnen.

Round two: Silva comes out with a double right and sharp leg kick that lands perfect. Sonnen though with ANOTHER take down and he is on top again!!! Elbows from the bottom by Spider. Sonnen in half guard on top and now trying to slap on Silva's ears. Sonnen with shoulder punches that are slamming Silvas head on the mat. Big left hand from Sonnen. Sonnen just landing punch after punch. Good elbow from Silva from the bottom. Sonnen posturing up and landing left punches. Big elbow from Sonnen. Big left from Sonnen. Sonnen is doing serious damage from the top. Big elbow from Sonnen, and another elbow to the head of Silva. Sonnen throwing in some elbows to the thigh as well. Silva looking for a triangle or armbar as Sonnen postures up but nothing is there. Silva walking up the cage and now Sonnen takes the back. Kimura attempt from Silva but Sonnen slips out. Thats the bell, and again Sonnen dominates that round. I am in shock right now Anderson Silva is being beaten up and dominated. 10-9 Sonnen.

Round three: Big right from Spider lands flush. Sonnen looks calm and collected. Spinning back kick from Silva, but Sonnen charges in with a big take down again. Sonnen jumps to the back now. Continuous knees to the thigh from Sonnen. Now he is throwing punches like a mad man and landing on Silva although there isnt much on them. Silva rolls out now but Sonnen is right on him and on top in full guard now. Side control for Sonnen briefly but Silva gets full guard back now. Now Sonnen landing some good elbows and punches. Body shots now from Sonnen and then a right to the head. Silva just holding on, but now Sonnen is just throwing soft blows but landing them in bunches. Nice right from Sonnen and he is covering the mouth of Silva and pushing his forearm onto his throat. Sonnen is literally punishing Silva. That is the end of the round and Sonnen is up 3 rounds to none. This is amazing. 10-9 Sonnen.

Round four: Big left from Silva and body kick and then Silva lands a crushing elbow!!! Head kick from Silva and Silva is unloading now. Sonnen is hurt. Sonnen with a lazy take down and now Silva is on top. Silva finally did some damage and he has Sonnen hurt. Sonnen now grabs the legs of Silva and gets a BIG reversal!!! Wow this is an amazing fight. Sonnen on top in full guard now. Big right punches from Sonnen doing some damage. Silva trying to create a stalemate so they get stood up. Sonnen posturing up and landing some good blows. Big rights from Sonnen and then a good elbow. Sonnen throwing some punches and Silva lands some good elbows from the bottom. Sonnen pounding away with good punches from the top. Sonnen now bleeding big time from Silvas elbows from the bottom. Nice elbow from the bottom by Silva, but Sonnen is still in control. This round is over and Sonnen wins another round. He almost got KO'd in the beginning of the round but then dominated. Silva needs a KO to win. 10-9 Sonnen.

Round five: Sonnen charges forward. Sivla dodges a take down. Sonnen tags Silva with a right and Silva falls to the mat!!!! Sonnen is on to now again and jumps into side control. Sonnen had a choke but Silva gets back into full guard. All Sonnen has to do is ride this one out and he will have pulled off the biggest upset in UFC history since Matt Serra GSP. Joe Rogan says Silva slipped at the beginning of this round and fell b/c of that not the punch. Sonnen on top raining down punches with an amazing pace. Silva needs ot be desperate. Big punches from Sonnen. Silva with a good right from the bottom. Silva throws in a triangle out of no where! Its deep! Wait there is some serious confusion going on right now, the fight is stopped and their saying Sonnen tapped. But the fight has not been callled yet. Replay shows Sonnen did tap out and it looks like Silva has just pulled off an out of this world come back! Thats it its official Anderson Silva after being beaten up and dominated all fight literally from start to finish, somehow someway locked in a triangle and got a miracle tap out. This was an incredible incredible fight. Unbelievable.

Ricardo Almeida vs. Matt Hughes (170-pound division limit)

Round one: Slow start to the fight both men trying distance. Hughes landing some leg kicks and then a right. Almeida looking for the clinch. Inside leg kick from Almeida. Hughes lands a big left hook and drops Almeida to his ass. Hughes now jumps on Almeida and has a north south choke in DEEEP. Almeida is out cold the ref stops the fight and Almeida is completely out cold. WOW Matt Hughes with an AMAZING performance.

Junior Dos Santos vs. Roy Nelson (265-pound division limit)

Round one: nice left from Dos Santos. Big country with a tight covered up stance respecting Dos Santos power. Nelson misses a big right and falls to his knees but he uses it to grab a leg and now push Dos Santos up against the cage. Over under for Dos Santos. Nice knee from the Brazilian on the break. Jab from Dos Santos and then a BIG uppercut which rocks Nelson. Dos Santos is now throwing bombs and landing big time shots!! HUGE right from Dos Santos!!! Dos Santos now just pounding away with HUGE bombs. Another big uppercut from Dos Santos. Nelson is standing tall and tough he just took a beating but he is still standing. Another uppercut from Dos Santos drops Nelson and now Dos Santos jumps on top and is pounding away again!! Nelson back to his feet and eats some more combos against the cage, but throws a HUGE right of his own that backs off Dos Santos. Right from Junior. Jab from Dos Santos. Knee to the gut from Dos Santos, big right from Nelson. Body shot from Dos Santos. Another uppcercut lands from Dos Santos and another big right and thats the bell. Nelson should be happy to still be conscious, Dos Santos put on a clinic of striking that round. 10-9 Dos Santos.

Round two: Nice step in knee from Dos Santos. Big right from BIG country lands!! Right from Junior. Dos Santos is not keeping up the same pace he could have exerted alot of energy with that non stop flurry of bombs he was landing. Left from Nelson. Dos Santos is cut under his right eye now. Nelson ducks under for a take down and Dos Santos somehow amazingly keeps his balance. Nelson pushing Dos Santos against the cage now. Good right from Big Country. Dos Santos shoots for a take down but he didnt try to hard to get it. Great body shot from Dos Santos. Jab from Dos Santos. Jab from Dos Santos. Nice hook from Dos Santos. Nice left hook from Dos Santos and then a right. Lazy shot from Nelson and theres nothing behind it, Dos Santos lands a big right and thats the bell. Very close round Nelson is a warrior and Dos Santos looks tired from the action packed 1st rd. But Dos Santos still was more busy this round. 10-9 Dos Santos.

Round three: Body kick from Dos Santos. Right from Nelson. Another right from Nelson connects. Dos Santos with a big flurry now and lands some big punches. Front kick to the chin from Dos Santos. Nice uppercut from Dos Santos. Left hook and then a take down from Dos Santos. Nelson back to his feet and Dos Santos lands another uppercut. Left hook from Dos Santos. Big right from Dos Santos. Jab from Dos Santos. Uppercut from Dos Santos and Roy Nelson just missed a wild haymaker that would have finished this fight. Nice left right combo from Dos Santos. Nice leg kick from Big Country. Nice uppercut then right from Dos Santos. Nice left and big right from Dos Santos. Body shots from Dos Santos. Knee to the gut from Junior. Left hook and right from Dos Santos. Big right from Dos Santos and Country throws a left and right to finish the fight. Wow, Junior Dos Santos looked amazing in the 1st round and overall and controlled the striking. Roy Nelson however was as game as they come and despite taking some serious damage that has finished every other Dos Santos opponent he stayed in there and stood and traded till the end of this fight. Great fight, and if Dos Santos is going to have a championship shot soon then this 3 round war was probably just what the doctor ordered if you asked his coaches.

Thiago Alves vs. Jon Fitch (170-pound division limit)

Round one: Fitch with a right. Jab from Alves. Leg kick from Fitch. Jab from Alves. Head kick from Fitch. Fitch grabs a hold of the back of Thiago and gets a slam for the take down. Fitch now on the back of Alves and is looking to get his hooks in. Fitch has one hook in now. Knee to the hamstring from Ftich as Thiago walks to his feet. Fitch drags him back down. Fitch holding on and slams him back down to the mat. Elbows to the face from Fitch. Alves scrambles out and is now on top! Half guard from Alves. Back to the feet now as Thiago backs off. Jab from Fitch. Nice left hook and knee from the clinch by Fitch. Nice right from Alves. Left to the body and right hook by Fitch. Uppercut to the body from Fitch. Take down from Fitch is stuffed. Now their clinched against the cage. Fitch trips him up and gets another take down. Thats the bell, and Jon Fitch won that round with his classic style. Take down and grind it out. 10-9 Fitch.

Round two: Inside leg kick from Fitch. Jab from Alves. Fitch counters a punch with a take down. Thiago looking for a guillotine but there is nothing there Fitch is next to impossible to submit. Fitch postures up and lands some punches and now Alves with his back against the cage is looking to wall walk. Thiago pushes off Fitch briefly but he is right back on him and drags him back to the ground. Fitch has the back and drags Thiago back to the mat and is now on top in half guard and just smothering Alves. Fitch with a right now, and is close to trying a standing guillotine. Thiago to his feet briefly, but Fitch sucks in a single leg and brings him right back down. Fitch has the back again as the crowd boo's but im sure he doesnt care as long as he wins. Alves now reverses positions and lets Ftich up. Their on their feet again. Uppercut from Alves. Head kick from Fitch. Thats the bell and again classic Fitch round. 10-9 Fitch.

Round three: Nice right from Fitch and then a good leg kick. Right from Alves then Fitch with a one two counter combo. Jab from Alves. Nice knee from the clinch by Fitch. Nice jab then hook to the body from Fitch. Great head kick from Alves. Fitch with a combo and now has a leg but Alves slips out. Fitch ducks under a punch and now has the back again. Fitch with the take down and now has one hook in as he throws some punches to soften up Thiago. Fitch now has a body triangle and is landing some punches. Fitch now has the back again with the body triangle and is looking for a choke. Fitch with some punches from behind. Fitch now has an arm triangle and is looking for the finish. Thiago rolls over and he is on top! Fitch still has the body triangle though so he still has control. Fitch scrambles and is back to his feet as the bell rings. Another classic Fitch round he controlled Alves on the ground and landed some good ground and pound punches. 10-9 Fitch.

Final result: Jon Fitch defeats Thiago Alves via Unanimous Decision

Rafael dos Anjos vs. Clay Guida (155-pound division limit)

Round one: Dos Anjos throws a wild combo with serious power but doesnt connect. Head kick from Guida lands flush. Dos Anjos with a sick leg kick. Guida lands a serious combo that makes Dos Anjos step back. Dos Anjos with another sick leg kick. Dos Anjos goes for a take down but is stuffed and now Guida is trying to turn it around on Dos Anjos for a take down of his own. Guida keeping pressure on Dos Anjos as he pins him against the cage. Guida still trying to suck in a single leg take down. Nice knee from Dos Anjos and a great right from Guida. Dos Anjos with a solid combo. Big left from Dos Anjos. Guida stuffs a shot from Dos Anjos. Nice head kick from Dos Anjos. Head kick from Dos Anjos and then a big right. He gets a take down now and Guida looking to hit a switch so he can get to his feet. Wall walk for Guida gets him up but he eats a knee and punch for his troubles. Thats the bell, and Guida is holding his own but Dos Anjos got the better of him in that round. 10-9 Dos Anjos.

Round two: Inside leg kick from Dos Anjos. Nice left from Guida. Body kick from Dos Anjos and a counter right from Guida. Dos Anjos again is stuffed on a take down attempt. Inside leg kick from Dos Anjos. This is an odd round there is alot of dancing and dodging of blows. Both men are being extremely defensive and neither is landing much offense. Guida now throws a combo and gets a double leg take down!! Guida now on top and trying to work his ground and pound. Dos Anjos looking for his submission options from his back and is being very active. Guida is trying to pass and he moves into half guard. Elbows form the bottom by Dos Anjos. Guida being active still trying to pass and he lands an elbow at the bell. Close round but Guida got the better of it at the end with the take down. 10-9 Guida.

Round three: Nice counter left from Dos Anjos . Guida now throws a combo and lands a few weak punches. Dos Anjos  is now much more hesitant to throw due to Guida wrestling ability. Guida ducks under for a take down and lifts Dos Anjos  up in the air and slams him to the mat!! Huge take down by Guida! Guida now in half guard and landing some good knees to the body and punches to the head. Guida jams his shoulder into the face of Dos Anjos  and he taps!!! Wow Guida wins by submission, and it seems like Dos Anjos  is saying he has a broken jaw. Big win for Clay Guida.
