Not fight I was expecting.
Somewhere in Philly, Eddie Alvarez is shaking his head, and completely understands how kawajiri feels right now.

respect to Kawajiri for gutting it out as long as he did.
If this was a five minute round. I think he could have made it. But it’s kinda his fault for coming in aggressive.

Yeah, gutsy effort from kawajiri.
That foot was twisted and torqued for so long. It made me cringe a little bit watching it. He had a very bad gameplan coming in though. I expected him to use the blueprint Melendez laid out to beat aoki. Maybe all the build-up got to kawajiri and he just wanted to prove a point.

no matter how many medium level fighters he destorys in japan, we all saw how he stacks up against a typical high level American MMA fighter, i believe hes barley top ten but thats not bad he wud make a great trainning partner but not the best lightweight fighter..
For what profit is it to man if he gains the world , and loses his own soul?

Until he fights in the UFC against the other best LWs, we won't ever know.
I mean he beats Kawajiri, Kawajiri has beaten Melendez twice (one was a robbery) and Melendez beats him. Same loop with Alvarez. It’s about how guys match up. We can’t also automatically try to say all wrestlers or good TD defense can beat Aoki….for example i don’t think maynard can beat him yet Frankie smashes him all day IMO.

if aoki had a chin everyone would be in deep trouble.
Japan is actually more dangerous for him to fight althought his competition is running thin now. Grounded knees and heel stomps leave him wide open and he doesn’t like to eat them (who would).
Im wondering what went down with the Cesar gracie camp when he spent time there. Nick diaz armbars Mach easily and Aoki handles a good wrestler in the Crusher.
That experience already looks to be paying off. Aoki can dismantle anybody in the LW ranks. But like NNR says match ups are key. Gray I think gets tricked early while Frankie Edgar peppers him into tomatoe paste. And Aoki is my fav LW… it’s just easy to see.
Fedor lost to Werdum.... OHHH SNAP!
I looked at their records and only found them fighting once, but i could of missed it. I haven’t seen the Kawajiri/Melendez fight but Aoki was dominated by Melendez and I can’t see Melendez getting owned like that by Kawajiri, but this is MMA. He did win so he did something right, Kawajiri could have been robbed like you said though,
you're right theyve only fought once.
Don’t know where i got that shit i’ve been up for too long;P

your thinking of his pair of fights with Ishida.
I knew it wasn’t Kawajiri but I had to look it up for myself. I remember it all know though. It was Ishida… Gil was completey pissed off in the first fight because Ishi took him down repeatedly and just pinned him to win a decision. He said something like " I didn’t come to Japan to have a wrestling match, but it’s my fault and im going to get this one back"
he did. TKO style. In the rematch in SF.
Fedor lost to Werdum.... OHHH SNAP!
thats how it always goes
same thing with fedor, carwin etc etc etc

Agreed
Fighting in the u.s., in a cage,And against Melendez. Not to mention being hyped up as representing ALL of Japanese MMA!! That was a ton of pressure for aoki.

He beat Alvarez
Which is damn impressive.
Anderson Silva will fall via brutal Republican dry-humping.
Anyone else think he eschewed the sexypants to prove he could win without them?

Watch Aoki vs. Ribeiro
He won that fight on the feet. He’s certainly not great but he’s improving.

How taste my feet LOL
Damn thats a classic line.
Didnt see Kawajiri losing after the Gilbert fight but then again different rules make for different gameplans amazing how Kawajiri stook in there. As for people saying they are mid level…get off Dana whites balls already Kawajiri would absolutely destroy Maynard or Frankie or anyone in the UFC including BJ.
If you dont like drugs then dont do them.....give them to me!
Kawajiri's not that good
He made a very stupid mistake and effectively lost the fight in the first exchange. The Japanese based LWs are all overhyped in my opinion, guys like Aoki and Kawajiri are very talented but they’re not top 5 and I doubt that either of them would beat BJ, or Gray, Kenny and Frankie for that matter nevermind destroy any of them. He’s good but not that good and looked very bad against Aoki last night.
Gil will expose Aoki once again in Dream and I’d pick him over Eddie as well, he looks better every fight and is constantly taking up the biggest fights possible outside of the UFC. Once he cleans out the Dream-SF-Bellator contenders I want to see him in the UFC, along with Jake and Nick. That way we can see the top UFC guys tested by the top guy outside of the UFC.
I <3 Dana White, the Ruler and Savior of the MMA World, and will serve his disciple, Synyster, faithfully to the end.
Kawajiri nearly knocked out Alvarez
And gave Melendez a run for his money. He’s VERY good.
Anderson Silva will fall via brutal Republican dry-humping.
He beat melendez,
But i don’t think he can beat BJ. He can probly do well in the UFC definitely more like to beat more guys there than Aoki IMO. But i said about aoki up, we won’t know until he comes stateside.

How do you even mention Maynard in the same sentence as Kawajiri or aoki??
Seriously wow….Lay n hump more which wouldnt work on Kawajiri worth shit Nate diaz smashed Maynards face up wtf do you think ‘Crusher’ would do to his ass???(give u a hint 1st round KO) As for Gilbert hes not exposing anything hes not part of the UFC lol how can he expose the division that he is a part of?
