ABOUT TIME

That’s all I have to say about that

by fightfan on Jul 10, 2010 12:46 PM EDT reply actions

UFC didn't have a choice probly.

Big John can really only work in Cali nowadays, he’s been blackballed everywhere. And the Fertittas’ reach may not be as long as n the Nevada commission. Anyways, it’s probly a one time thing and people shouldn’t be too overjoyed.

look whos back..

Mr. im too good for the UFC, he was all about Afliction and said he did’nt like things the UFC does but now he needs UFC..

For what profit is it to man if he gains the world , and loses his own soul?

dude give it a fucking rest

Big John is a great referee and seems like a totally good guy… UFC is a cutthroat business, we all know that, he was simply speaking his mind about some of their business/fascist practices… and its obvious the UFC has some of the commisions in their pocket thats why he wasnt reffing in the UFC

by xquisitewretch on Jul 10, 2010 3:09 PM EDT up reply actions

He doens't need the UFC

He doesn’t need anything, he is doing just fine. I would say the UFC having one more good ref benefits the UFC more.

Interesting timing with the poll SCS recently put up.

But it is a great move and I’m glad Dana is finally letting go of his old grudge against Big John.

They do but the UFC has strong pull and right before he went to work for the Fight Network

He critized commissions for not doing their jobs, refs/Judges being incompetent at their jobs and the monopoly of the UFC. Ever since then, Dana and Kizer have joined forces to keep him out. He tried to get relicensed in Nevada and got denied (can you belive that shit?!). He’s not licensed anywhere else aside from Cali and New Jersey i think

Why is it bullshit?

Any employee who has a problem with their employer should go see their employer if they have a complaint. If they don’t listen or care and you go to the media… why would you expect to be re-hired? Why would you want to be re-hired?

by Baxter086 on Jul 10, 2010 4:21 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions

hes not an employee of the UFC

hes an employee of the athletic commissions… and why is he able to ref in CA and NJ and not NV? because the UFC greases the NV commission so he cannot get a license in NV, thats why its bullshit… end of story

95-2000……he was def the best. Now……meh……. herb is just as good if not better….and rosenthal is right up there ( i have been saying that FOREVER, not just since saturday)
im kinda excited..but not as big a deal as some people make out

a much more positive thing is i dont think ive seen dan mirgliotta around much…..

by mfother on Jul 10, 2010 1:05 PM EDT reply actions

yamasak is also right up there…..ive only seen a few bad calls…..and they were letting the fight go too long…..not short

I asked Big John about his return to the Octagon in May and he wouldn’t comment on it at all. Not a word. Great news to see he is coming back.

Don't be suprised if we don't see big John reffing.

We heard this shit before & they left big John hanging more than once. I hope 2 see him back can any1 honestly stand dan mirgilota or that ugly dyke bitch ref.

by d*locc on Jul 10, 2010 2:50 PM EDT via mobile reply actions

No doubt!

That chick ought to be dealing blackjack in a truckstop casino outside of Reno or something.

My problem with the woman being a ref

is that she’s not built like Cyborg, so what are the chances she can pull two trained killers apart if they decide the throw the rules out the window?

It’s kind of useless to have someone in there who isn’t capable of performing one of the most important (if almost never actually practiced) functions of the job.

Yves Lavigne had the same problem in Rampage win over Wandy.

He was too scared to jump in, and you can’t have that. He looked awfully French that night.

by naturalshadow on Jul 11, 2010 11:53 PM EDT up reply actions

if i worked for the commisions i would create a main event officiating crew and they would be

big john
herb dean
yamasaki
rosenthal
lavigne ( he f**ked up a couple of time but hes still a damn good reff)

and they would also make more money than the other reffs

by dia mette on Jul 10, 2010 3:43 PM EDT reply actions

lavigne is solid

his reffing of the marcus davis/paul taylor fight was phenomenal

by xquisitewretch on Jul 10, 2010 4:14 PM EDT up reply actions

i would fire that chick ref she is awful

BJ is going to be back in Cali training and Marv is back! Bad news for Frankie. I will be betting the house.

by BJPennfan on Jul 10, 2010 4:41 PM EDT up reply actions

Ive never understood that....that chick is awesome.

She doesn’t feel the need to inject her life story like a ton of refs into the fight. Let it happen, when the person is out of the fight then stop it. Watch for techniques and make sure that the fight is uninterrupted. Simple.

As far as dia mette – i really wouldn’t put Rosenthal on there. He’s on the radar now for the Lesnar-Carwin fight but that’s one fight compared to his big and questionable early stoppage history.

Big John sucks

This man totally blows as a ref but isn’t the worst. I predict alot of early stoppages and alot of unhappy fight fans because of big john. The UFC needs to keep him out of the octagon.

Strikeforce st louis

Big John reffed the Overreem vs Rogers fight in st louis in May. So he must be able to be in some other states.

Oh, wow

Just saw this. Yeah, yeah, slowpoke, etc. But, man this is great news! I love Big John and think it’s great that whatever disagreements he has with the UFC have been resolved.
