A source close to the Golden Glory camp has revealed that STRIKEFORCE is actively pursuing adding more Golden Glory fighters to their current roster. This addition, although not yet finalized, would add MMA veterans Sergei Kharitonov and Valentijn Overeem to the mix of Heavyweights for the San Jose based promotion. The signing is very close and will most likely be announced next week in the form of a press release. Sergei Kharitonov (16-4) is a DREAM and PrideFC veteran who holds notable victories over fighters such as Alistair Overeem, Fabricio Werdum, Mike Russow, Semmy Schilt, and Pedro Rizzo. Valentijn Overeem (28-25) has been fighting since 1996 and holds notable victories over Randy Couture and Renato "Babalu" Sobral. Valentijn is the brother to current STRIKEFORCE Heavyweight Champion Alistair Overeem. Although Valentijn's record is nearly at fifty-percent, he has fought against tough opponents such as Gilbert Yvel, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueria, Gary Goodridge, Igor Vovchanchyn, Ron Waterman, and Assuerio Silva.
