I can’t believe Rashad ‘Sugad’ all over Rampage at 114. Quittin Jackson was a bad choice from the start and I think he needs to now consider retirement. Fedor too!

Useless rematch

Georges should be moving up in competition not backwards. Not saying that Kos is worse than Hardy and BJ, but GSP has climbed this mountain. If there are no more contenders in the WW division ready for a title shot, move up. I’m not impressed with Georges beating Kos again.

I miss seeing Georges as the hungry challenger. This front runner, win by setting the pace, grinding, cautious style is ruining the anticipation I used to feel before a GSP fight. Those butterflies you feel before one of “your guys” is about to fight is what made me addicted to this sport in the first place. I don’t feel them anymore when Georges fights.

Middleweight, Georges. No one cares if you get smashed. Just go.

Do you forget so quickly that Kos is the last guy to win a round against GSP?

How quickly you discount the one guy with the proper skill set to nullify GSP at WW.

Take those fucking glasses off jay, they’re blinding you.

BTW,

Those butterflies you feel before one of "your guys" is about to fight is what made me addicted to this sport in the first place.

I don't believe Kos has anything to offer GSP

I would rather watch Georges be the underdog. It’s what all the haters want, now I see there point. GSP fought a more exciting fight when he was hungry. This fight has deja vu written all over it.

jay kos IS the top of the mountain...he IS the best ww in ufc besides gsp..who else would you have him fight?

hes already beatin everyone…no one has a chance at gsp…the ONLY person who has a chance of even giving gsp ANY type of competition whatsoever is someone who can neutalize his tds..and there is NO ONE in the division who can except kos…

yea gsp has already beaten kos, but he also is the last person to win a round against gsp, he has given gsp his toughest fight in the last several years other than the serra ko…

kos has grown since their first fight…before hughes rematched gsp everyone could have just said “why should hughes climb this mountain again, he already tapped gsp in the 1st round, theres no point”

remember during the mach/sho fight when rog and goldie were saying that every rematch in the ufc has been a split? like it was 13-13-2…

if kos doesnt fight gsp then please tell me who you would put in his place? kos has 13 wins in the ufc, who else is more qualified to fight gsp?

Kos has a 75% winning percentage since the last time they met

He can’t string together two fights back-to-back where he comes out with good game plans. I think Kos is in the top 5 WW in the UFC right now, I’m not disputing that. What I’m saying is Georges should be challenging himself, not helping Kos to challenge Kos. Know what I mean? He wants a legacy that is untouchable. Does him being the front runner for years in his prime help that? If anything this fight is set up(and your posting Kos’ stats proves this)to see what Kos can do. I don’t give a fuck about what Kos can do. I don’t care if he’s improved since the last time they fought and I certainly don’t care if his wrestling is better now that he is focusing on it.

Hella, not everyone agrees that Kos took a round from GSP. I don’t think so and neither did all the judges, all three of them didn’t score it 29-28, I think one of them said GSP won all three rounds. Much like the Nog/Brilz fight, everyone is excited that Kos looked half decent and gave him a round for it.

I can name a few for you.

Mike Bisping
Mark Munoz(a much better wrestler than Kos)
Rousimar Palhares
Demian Maia
Alan Belcher
Wanderlei Silva
Sexyama

Point being he should go to MW and challenge himself. I wanna see what Georges can do, not what Kos can do.

Actually, I will be honest

In a bit more time, I would like to see Paulo Thiago fight for the belt. Sure, he’s not the most polished yet, but he’s taken out (and finished) 2 of the 3 AKA welterweights.

by judomania on Jun 4, 2010 12:36 AM EDT up reply actions

yea paulo thiago is gonna be a top contender in 2011 no doubt...dan hardy fight him next...

but he DID lose to the gatekeeper fitch, but there really isnt any shame losing to fitch…but its the same thing as when people bring up kos losing to alves…alves and fitch are pretty much on the same level right now…

and its apparent now that swick is good at beating B- and C+ fighters but he isnt gonna beat any A fighters…

but yea, if paulo is able to beat someone like hardy then that automatically throws him into the top 5

2 or 3 whatever....fitch lost to gsp...paulo lost to fitch...he doesnt piggy back over him to a title shot

everyone at 170 is now a gatekeeper…cause gsp has beaten them all…a gatekeeper is someone who can basically beat anyone except the champ…they are the people who stand between you and the champ

by BJPennfan on Jun 4, 2010 6:00 AM EDT up reply actions

lol that made me re-read the name too

Fitchkeeper. Lol riiiight. Anyways, the problem is because of how dominant he is, no new name can even come in and have anyone give them a chance. Think about it, if Paulo wins 1-2 more against some good names, or hell, look at Hathaway, yeah its too early, but Diego is a good name, and if he sends two more upper level guys packing he’ll be in the talks too. But, that still won’t change a thing. The majority of ppl will know GSP will win anyways, and the small margin of haters will put themselves in denial, saying (insert name here) has a great chance.

The thing is contenders still will and always have emerged. So what if he gets a Hardy, here and there. If Hardy is his worst win since claiming gold, is that really such a bad list of opponents?

Smash em GSP, smash em all. Let Dana sort em out.

um gsp is the ww champ..he has to defend his belt..thats what champs do..you avoided the question...

gsp HAS to defend his belt…thats the responsibility of being a champion…and the fact that gsp only fights twice a year you cant just have the belt held up like that….he fought twice in ’08…twice in ’09…and when he fights kos that will be twice in ’10…thats 6 fights in 3 years…most fighters fight 3 or 4 times a year…

you still havent said who at 170 deserves a title shot more than kos at the moment…

you know you're having some good sex when you start planning what you're gonna say in the 911 call afterwards...

Hella, your analysis has some great points.

However, UFC champs fight 2-3 times per year, MAX. Look at Andy, he only fought twice last year, and once was at 205. I chalk that up to the UFC growing so much that they water down their divisions and we see a lot of fights that don ’t impact the champion directly.

Kos is deserving of the title shot, based on taking on a whole slew of fights, but he has faltered a few times.

by judomania on Jun 4, 2010 12:45 AM EDT up reply actions

no you have to chalk andy up to having surgery for him being out so long last year

He has averaged 3 fights a year throughout his career.

And I’m not avoiding the question. I’ve answered you every time. No one at WW is a good opponent for Georges right now. He should go to MW.

Let the division sort itself out. Kos isn’t a worthy opponent no matter how you try to talk him up. I’ll say it again, Georges shouldn’t be rematching people right now. He should be testing his limits and seeing what he can do, Not seeing what Kos can do. Are you catching my drift at all?

This is what happens when you bet on a loser like Cote, I should have listened to David W-S

by jay. on Jun 4, 2010 12:51 AM EDT up reply actions

so you're saying gsp shouldnt defend his belt? like matt hughes shouldnt have rematched gsp after beating him

like gsp shouldnt have rematched penn after beating him…like bj shouldnt be rematching edgar after losing to him…like andy shouldnt have rematched rich after beating him…like randy shouldnt have rematched chuck after beating him…like andre shouldnt have rematched tim after beating him….like chuck shouldnt have rematched tito after beating him…like serra shouldnt have rematched gsp after beating him…list goes on and on dude….

why should fitch be fighting alves again after tooling him? why should there EVER EVER be a rematch EVER in mma?

Jay would rather gsp should sit on a throne and bath in vaseline than fight kos who has earned the title fight without a doubt. If you think kos doesnt stand a chance you are mistaken, he will make this a fight. I’m really looking forward to this fight unlike the hardy fight where he had no chance and barely earned it.

my fav part about kos is when people call him a "boring" fighter....

he has 13 wins in the octagon, and 8 of those wins have ended by T(KO) OR SUBMISSION!!! so out of his 13 wins only 5 have gone to a decision….and one of those was a complete bloody slaughter of chris lytle….which i mean for a dec victory that was pretty fucking brutal

and out of his 17 ufc fights hes only been stopped twice! and one of those was back in 2005 when he first got off the show and was just a 1 dimensional wrestler

and drew ficket caught him with a knee when he was coming in for a td…and then wasnt stopped again till the paulo uppercut…which i think was an early stoppage..and the only reason i think that is because thiago alves hit him WAY harder in their fight….he dropped kos like 3 times in that fight with WAY harder punches and kos was able to recover…but he wasnt able to recover against paulo..

not taking anything away from paulo, cause that was a good combo he threw..but the punches that alves dropped him with were WAY more devistating

Are you two retarded(GURU AND HELLA)I know Guru is, so he's exempt

You aren’t reading a thing I type. I don’t want him sitting on a throne. I want him challenging himself, instead of challenging people he’s already beaten. Let the WW division work itself out for a while and let Georges fight someone that WILL push him. Kos has won 3 fights in a row, he’s also lost 2 of his last 8. He hasn’t proven he deserves another title shot to me. What has Kos done that makes you think he has a chance? You think he’ll KO Georges with that silly overhand? This proves you haven’t read a single thing I’ve written. I want the total opposite of what you accuse me of. Learn to read. I don’t want Georges sitting out for 7 months just to fight a guy that hasn’t earned another shot. If you think a 3 win streak means he deserves GSP, maybe we should get Hughes back in here? Oh and Fitch deserves another shot before Kos.

GSP . . .

Should vacate the WW belt and focus on becoming the MW world champ. Then it lets the anticipation build when Fitch/Kos/Alves fight eachother and determine who the real man is. Let them be king for a time, then let GSP come back and put them back in their rightful place. That would build anticipation AND allow GSP the opportunity to grow in a more challenging division for him.

I really hope you are wrong

But then again I think it would be hilarious if it turns into another 5 rounder from GSP. He has been saying he has a surprise for his opponent before every fight as of late. Maybe he will surprise us with a finish or a loss. I believe if he gets ko’d by Kos it could break him and turn him into nothing but a wrestler. That would be awful. Anyways I hope for a good fight.

Ahight homeboys and wieners...

After months of reading all of your comments and rants I’ve decided to become part of the club….

Yes Kos deserves his shot, but he’s gonna lose. and Geroges won’t be moving to MW untill he at least shatters Hughes amount of title defences at WW. Theres no way anyone can even pretend that Kos has improved as much as GSP since they fought last.

I think gsp will eventually move up and try to stake a p4p legacy but only after he cements his WW legacy….

And how will he do? as big a fan of GSP as I am, I still belive that if you have an amazing fighter VS a bigger amazing fighter the bigger guy wins. Just look at GSP-Penn 2
