that’s why a ranking is made on records only. the losses are really the only telling factor on how good a fighter is and right now Fedor is 31-2, looks pretty unbeatable to me.

Since Pride the wins are over guys that are not top ten fighters. AA was at #2 just for hype as WAMMA happen to put there to hype up for their champ Fedor and at the time many sites followed WAMMA as they were just starting to make there own ranking. Anyone that thinks Timmy and AA were top five fighters at the time fell into the BS hype WAMMA started. Good fighters yes the best no.

AA, Timmy, and Rogers were never worthey of being top contenders
when they fought Fedor. You got it Puck Head. AA beat Ben Rothwell and Roy Nelson and all of the sudden he’s the #2 guy in the world? I didn’t realize that 2 wins over ex-IFL fighters meant so much for your career. Rogers has still never beaten any one noteworthy and what more is there to say about Big Tim, the guy barely beat Brandon Vera and gets a shot at Fedor. Anyone who thinks those three guys were top of the food chain when they fought Fedor is kidding themselves. Needless to say I was still shocked by the outcome Saturday, but I had been critical of Fedor’s opposition since the decline of PRIDE. It still surprised me because Wedum hadn’t looked all that good since the KO loss to JDS. His 2 StrikeForce fights were lackluster and I thought he was going to be another lower tier HW for Fedor to pray on. He was more dangerous than Fedor’s previous opponents, but equally as one dimensional. I guess I was wrong.

If JDS wanted to go for the belt he might of had to fight NOG and thats why he made the statements he did. The UFC can try and force fighters to fight but in reality if both fighters don’t want to fight eachother what do you do get rid of both them becasue they won’t fight? The same rule has to apply to all and if the guys I mentioned don’t have to fight eachother what makes you think the UFC can make JDS? Now that NOG has lost JDS has stated he wants to fight for the title.

If they wanted JDS to fight for the title he would have, if they would have said NOg is nowhere near a title shot he’s not!
But NOG was at the time and that why JDS was not. The UFC is not going to force someone to fight for the title they want someone that wants the title and at the time JDS did not want it.

but it does change where he’s ranked right now. Rankings are about who’s the best at any given time, and the fact that Fedor just lost to Werdum should drop him in the current HW rankings. It takes nothing away from what he has accomplished over the course of his career, but it certainly should change his current ranking.

Did you honestly believe he was going to lose eventually before this fight? Because I’ve read many hardcore Fedor fans here spout off about his invincibility over the past several years, and now there seems to be the attitude that this was an eventuality. I’m not a Fedor fan but it’s mainly because I can’t stand his management team. He’s always been humble in victory and now in defeat as well, and he’s a legend of the sport. Much respect for the man.

The Fedor fanatics thought that way, but a lot of the real Fedor fans, myself included, still thought there is a good chance he would lose to Brock or Carwin or even possibly Overeem. The fanatics tend to think you’re less of a fan of a particular fighter if you tend to be realistic in your views and aren’t emphatically making claims of his invincibility.
Also, and understandably, you recall more of the claims of invincibility because the crazies wouldn’t stop berating and ridiculing people for not falling head over heels into the mists of his mythical status.
There are many Fedor haters who hate him just because the Fedor fanatics don’t shut up about it or let other people make a valid argument about the possibility of him losing. The Fedor haters are ultimately wrong, but a lot of them have turned to the Dark Side due to the fanatics’ constant nonsense.
