UFC rankings/MMA rankings featured in USA Today for June 2010
Our partners in crime over at BloodyElbow.com have once again published their divisional rankings for mixed martial arts in the nation’s largest daily newspaper, USA Today, for the month of June 2010.
For those of you unfamiliar with the process, here’s how it works:
"The rankings, which will offer a definitive perspective of top MMA fighters across all weight-classes, will be released monthly and published in the Sports section of USA TODAY, online at USATODAY.com and on SB Nation’s MMA commentary and community blog, BloodyElbow.com … The USA TODAY/SB Nation Consensus MMA Rankings are compiled each month by Nate Wilcox and Richard Wade of BloodyElbow.com. The rankings utilize each of the top MMA rankings from multiple unique sources. A weighted-formula is applied to normalize and distill the various rankings into one consensus ranking per weight class."

I cant believe Barnett is still in the top ten.
But I’m glad to see so many WEC fighters getting the respect they deserve (Jorgensen, Grispi,Yahya).
even if he belonged there he isn’t getting fights against other top 10 anymore due to the steroid thing
how can they possibly have Mir at #5? he shouldn't even be in the top 10.
he has done nothing other than beating Cheick Kongo! when he fought Brock, Brock was unranked and new to the sport.
USA All the way !
Where's Rich Franklin?
All those catchweight and legend fights have caused him to get lost in the shuffle and left out of both weight classes’ rankings. Rashad beats Chuck, he gets a title shot. Shogun beats Chuck, he gets a title shot. Rich beats Chuck and he gets dropped from the rankings. WTH? Did anyone even buy him a beer?!?
What bothers me
is that Werdum is on the list. No way he should be on there, but if and when Fedor beats him the nut-swingers can claim he beat a top 10 guy.
’’Apparently the the only way to kill a lion is by rear naked choke…personally I’d just kick it in the head.’’ – Bas Rutten
why shouldn't he?
he was ranked 5th before JDS beat him and JDS is a top tier guy too.
if Werdum doesn't belong in the top ten then
who belongs in his place?? Kongo! CroCop? Buentello? B.Rogers? Arlovski? Tim Silvia?? Butter Bean? Bob Sapp?? Mark Hunt???

This list is an average of all the mma ranking site used and some sites don't list Silva as LHW
Wich drops his ranking on this list. You use to be able to go and look at what every site used and see were they were ranked by the sites that did rank him and most that do will have him as a top four.

What do rankings prove or really mean?
In boxing they help determine who the next challenger is for the belt but that doesn’t crossover into MMA so does this shit actually mean anything?
MMAmath is useless too so can’t use that.
Just leaves a fighters record. Wins mean everything. Don’t believe me? Ask Greg Jackson…

Heavyweight
Brock will be falling down the list.Carwin will win by knockout.I question Brock’s ability to take shots to the head and I do not think he has heart. He has already shown himself to be a tapper.
LOL
So….Because he tapped once he will tap again?

A tapper?
That is the dumbest thing all day. So anyone that taps once is worthless. Sorry Anderson Silva we know you are a great athlete and have many impressive and dominating wins but you once tapped to a triangle choke early in your career and then short after to a flying scissor heal hook you are labeled a tapper and therefore you suck. We will not longer call you the best P4P fighter in the world and will be assume that you will lose to your next opponent and that you do not have any heart.
Very very stupid comment.
Good post ASR

I too think he will lose. Carwin is a better striker

Shocking
Fedor fights his first real competition in years and gets schooled. This should show everyone that he is a great fighter but the last few years have been mostly smoke mirrors and building up a mental picture that threw other fighters out of their game. He would get owned 4 out of 5 in the UFC.
