Strikeforce: We have not signed former WWE wrestler 'Batista'

02_batista_medium

WWE fans who got their hopes up earlier this morning may be disappointed to learn that former wrestling star Dave Bautista has not been signed by Strikeforce just yet.

That's according to Strikeforce officials, who today tell MMAmania.com that a previous report by TMZ, indicating the 40-year-old wrestler-turned-budding mixed martial artist had joined the San Jose based organization, was incorrect.

Wishful thinking by "The Animal?"

"Batista" hints at a future cage fight to one of the TMZ drones in this video but alas, as of now, it's not to be -- though it probably wouldn't come as much of a surprise to see him join a roster that already has ex-WWE star Bobby Lashley and former NFL great Herschel Walker.

Anyone think he'd make a welcome addition to combat sports?

DAMN!

Maybe 10 years ago it would’ve been a good idea.. I still like Batista though.. Proud of his Filipino heritage ;)

Conan : You are known as a striker. Is that correct? Tell me what that means.
Chuck : Well I like to punch people, or kick them.

It would probably benefit them, actually…depending on his demands…let’s be real..who wouldn’t tune in?..for whatever reason

IT IS THE SUPER OUTLET

BAUTISTA DID SIGN WITH SF THIS IS A BLATANT LIE

"The other shape,
If shape it might be call'd, that shape had none,
Distinguishable in member, joint, or limb;
Or substance might be call'd that shadow seem'd;
For each seem'd either; black it stood as night,
Fierce as ten furies, terrible as Hell,
And shook a dreadful dart; what seem'd his head
The likeness of a kingly crown had on.
Satan was now at hand; and from his seat
The monster, moving onward, came as fast
With horrid strides; Hell trembled as he strode."

this is also the sameTMZ that reported kimo being dead...when he is indeed alive

at least they got the tito thing right…these douches never fact check…they are so fucking desperate to be the FIRST to put “break” a story…regardless of whether its true or not…they just report EVERYTHING not caring if its true….and then later they just say “well it isnt our fault, our source was lying”

i hate those cunts

you know you're having some good sex when you start planning what you're gonna say in the 911 call afterwards...

What makes me even more angry is that they have a TV show...

I saw one episode and it almost made me puke. They make their no-good cunt reporters out to be stars themselves. They all deserve to be in a real-life SAW-Sequel!

Hello TMZ reporters, I want to play a game

You make money off of more famous and talented people, harrassing and stalking them for your stories but now you are the protagonists of this story. All of you have made the lives of others miserable, now you will feel that misery. But I will give you the chance to make amends, inside one of your bodies are the keys to your salvation. One of you is not a TMZ reporter, you must choose who the liar is, if you choose wrong then this story will end with your deaths. The choice is yours.

By the way they failed and all died grizzly deaths.

It wouldn't be any dumber than signing James Toney.

Yes and no. At the very least Toney has some sort of legit combat background. Does Bautista have any?

oj

He’s been training some mma for the past few years. Probably not much tho as his wwe sched is intense. He’s 40 with no experience and not much training overall, he’ll never be something in mma and I don’t think he really wants to. Hollywood is where he wants to be.

And no, WWE doesn’t count as combat training. Brock was a national champion amateur wrestler, there a gigantic difference in the two.

i'm all for anyone who wants to be a fighter to try...

i just dont think they belong on the strikeforce or ufc stage. look at the green ranger (whatever his name is), he’s started off in some of the smaller promotions and now looks to make a step up in competition. we have fights at Wick’s Pizza here in Louisville, KY… Batista should try there.

I'm old school hating Lesnar, I've been hating Lesnar since '08

I'm going to start being the BE or KidNate of commenters, I'm just going to copy and paste your comments and say "I agree & Dana White sucks!"

by MicahW on Jun 21, 2010 2:08 PM EDT reply actions

you mean the guy who played the green ranger is fighting mma?

Hell I didn’t know that..I believe his characters name was tommy…and he was later the white ranger…if you’re talkin early power rangers anyway…that’s news to me…so was it the guy who played him or the guy who wore the suit? I’m pretty sure none of the characters were actually the ones doin all the fancy moves in the suits but I could be wrong

He's just another...

Mariusz Pudzianowski. Big and scary looking, with a dinky gas tank which makes them overall useless fighters. I just had an epiphany. They should get Mariusz Pudzianowski to welcome Batista to the MMA world. It will be headlined “War of the Gas Tanks” or “Gas Tanks Collide”

HAHAHA

Dave Bautista and Booker T got into it awhile back when Booker T was still with WWE. If you don’t know him he is quite a bit smaller than Bautista and although it was broke up by fellow wrestlers word is Booker T got the better of the incident.

Age I think starting a career at 40 in MMA is pretty far fetched. There is just to much to intake in so little time. I say give Hollywood a shot.

He deserves as much of a shot as anyone, but I’m doubtful on his actual prospects.
